Shoes thrown at Bush on Iraq trip

Yes, which is why he's being charged with insulting the head of a foreign state. I have a feeling that I missed the point of your post

No, you didn't miss the point of my post, I wrote a reply too fast. My mistake.

By the way, how the law in Iraq should be applied if the shoe hits president Bush and causes him a black eye, some bleeding or similar, such action should still be an offense?

Shouldn't it be attempted assult? If you are not allowed to insult the head of a foreign state then we are not trying to inject a value that makes America what it is. And one of the bigest and most important ones. Freedom of speech. But this isn't a speech crime. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. This is one man coming to lose control after seeing what he thought was tyrany.

I have no knowledge of the Iraqi legal system, but I would guess that would be assault. Giving somebody a black eye tends to be assault, regardless of the hilarity of the weapon used.

Some reporter unrelated to the shoe thrower gave the black eye. The shoe thrower hit noone. It was a microphone that accidentally caused it. So I think it would be attempted.

You caught a GEORGEWBUSH!

Give a nickname to GEORGEWBUSH?
:douchebag

Now I know you went to college. You reek of gross moral equivalencies and relativitism.

Sickening.

I bet you sit up at night thinking of different routes I may tell you I took and the best way to make fun of each and every one.

That's probably the funniest one I've seen so far.

Me too.

On another thought, it would be interesting if this act is one day considered equal to the Bosten Tea Party.

Um..how could it possibly be? You are aware of what the Boston Tea Party was and what it represented, right? I can't believe anyone would honestly try to put these two events in the same category.

I dont think it is. But I bet everyone in Iraq does.

I don't know if I'd make a bet like that. There are a lot of people in Iraq who are just happy that Saddam is gone even though the war hasn't gone how they wanted. Regardless, it's still quite an absurd comparison. In my opinion, trying to compare someone throwing shoes at our President during a press conference to a very revolutionary and significant moment in our history only shows to me that you don't value it that much or have a poor understanding of it.

What do you think is a bigger act? Assulting tea leaves or presidents?

It's the symbolism and the significance of the event that matters and I would say that the Boston Tea Party is far more significant than throwing shoes at the President.

To some of these people it isn't.

YouTube - ABC (MSM) hails shoe-thrower as "folk hero"

Again. To me. It is.

I wonder if any rich men bought any tea crates as a relic.

(Just found this.. And just like I thought it would. It's spreading. )

This Shoe's for you, MTA! Protestor at board meeting inspired by Iraqi who threw shoes at Bush

I never said that he wouldn't be viewed as a hero by some. I'm only saying that I think it's absurd to compare it to something like The Boston Tea Party.

I repeat. I do not think it is and im sorry you see my comparisson as absurd. But again. I don't think the some of the people shown in the video would agree with you.

I wasn't quick enough but there ya go.

I don't think those people would probably understand the significance of the Boston Tea Party. I'd be surprised if they had even heard of it.

What he found amusing was the throwing of shoes, not the fact that the man went through all that awful stuff.

Did he find this amusing after he was told what showing someone the sole of your shoe actually means? Obviously he was so uneducated about the country he was blowing up to know what the message behind those shoes being thrown actually was.
