Shoes thrown at Bush on Iraq trip

Bush got some skills at "dodge" :)

Did you get the feeling he developed those skills as the kid at school who was always the target of the bigger kids games too?

He certainly reacted quicker than his own security people.

That's the part that I noticed as well. If that guy were to have had a gun, we would have a president that had been shot. They reacted very slow.

Nah, I bet Bush would have skillfully avoided a bullet, too. After eight years, he's perfected the art of dodging. :2razz:

I hope President Bush wipes the dust from his feet and just leaves that gawd-forsaken land.

I ain't no big Bush fan, but he is our president. I worry about him going into these dangerous places. They had better protect him with all their might. There are too many traitor stories over there in that neck of the woods. I don't trust any of them.

God save the President. Oooo-rah.

Don't be messin' wit' da U.S.A. !

Got Draft?

I just wanna know what training the shoe attacker had. Shoe-Do, Shoe-Jitzu, or Tai-Kwan-Shoe.
(btw shoe dodging is a inherited white trash ability)

Sounds like the shoe fits you.

I am most definately white trash. How else could I call someone something if I didnt know it. :D My mom trained me well in the art of shoe dodging. (kinda funny how in Arabiaville its absolutely horrible to throw a shoe at someone and 35% of poor white people get the same treatment from their mom)

I am reminded of Eddie Murphy's mom who could through a show around a corner. :rofl

In related news, Congress will now Consider House Bill Number 4234, which requires everyone to register their shoes, and also outlaws stiletto heels.

And an even heavier blow to the hard gainers of America. Steel toe boots.

In many Asian cultures, hitting someone or touching someone with the sole of your shoe or even the bottom of your foot is considered very insulting. Since humans walk on their feet, it would be like walking on someone. To the person who threw the shoes, he was trying to degrade Bush.

So . . . damn, he musta done somthin'

Bush was pretty agile here. Fortunately he was not hurt.

I was completely shocked when I saw the footage. I can't believe how fast Bush acted. BOTH shoes would have hit him had he not moved. I was really disturbed by the whole scene and am thankful he didn't get hit. I thought Bush handled this situation very well.

However, it seemed to take the Secret Service too long to react, as the guy was able to throw the second shoe. I wonder if heads are going to roll as a result of this.

In Arab culture it is one of the top insults. Remember when the Saddam statue was pulled down during the invasion? The Iraqies took off their shoes and beat it, or trampled on it, and hence showed the sole of their shoes as an insult towards Saddam.

I would compare this insult as calling a black man by the N word or calling your mother a whore.

President Bush's reaction to this situation was first class.

First, he was able to dodge the shoes with considerable adeptness. Then, he was able to shrug it off with a casual, slightly comical remark, showing it didn't shake him at all.

I have more than my share of disagreements with the President, but I give him an A for this quiz grade.

He should have put a grenade in it and wiped the smug look off that pricks face - especially when he joked about it afterward, claiming it was 'amusing'.

What sort of cruel mother****er finds kidnap, torture, and death amusing? That man was kidnapped and tortured. He went through unspeakable hells, his friends and family have been killed, and all Bush can say is that he was 'amused'?

**** I hate your President, America. He makes me sick to my stomach.

And this kind of post makes ME sick to MY stomach, supporting someone launching an attack on the president of the United States and wishing there was a granade in the show (perhaps there would have been were it not for security.)

As for Bush's reaction, it was highly appropriate to the situation and what he knew at the time. It wasn't Bush or the US who kidnapped anyone in Iraq, it was the insurgents who claim to be fighting for the Iraqi people.

I don't know what country you are from, and frankly I don't wish to know as it would cause me to look at those people with a little less respect than I would currently regard them with.

You know I don't respect anyone who wishes harm to the President. I'm done with you.

I dislike most of everything that Bush has done, yet I do not wish any harm to him. Your post is an example of why liberals get a bad rap and frankly disgusts me beyond reason.

Wishing that a guy had killed our president goes beyond tasteless, beyond politics, and I dare to say is one of the most unpatriotic comments I have read in a long time.

Whoa  Overreaction much?

What he found amusing was the throwing of shoes, not the fact that the man went through all that awful stuff.

I don't like Bush much either, but in this instance I think he handled himself pretty well. I'm just surprised the man had time to throw the other shoe. Where the heck was the Secret Service??

I bet the shoe thrower is a Sunni. He misses his dear Saddam.

This is awesome.

Before we liberated Iraq, that man would not be able to do such a thing without being shot or hung......
