[W:80, 201]Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain dies after battle with coronavirus

RIP Herman Cain.

While I strongly disagreed with his politics, there is no denying his accomplishments in life. Hey made the most of every opportunity and was just outrageously successful. He was almost the embodiment of the American dream.

Just got back from my brother in law(who as some already know, is rich) and he was talking about how Cain was a regular at the Eagles Landing country club where my brother in law plays golf and tennis, and so he met Cain a number of times and thought highly of him. "Smart, articulate, nice" was how my brother in law described him.

Eh, I shouldn’t have gotten annoyed. Whether he deserved it or not, I legit don’t think we can say that for sure. Everything I’ve heard about my cousin is that he did follow all the safety recommendations and still contracted it.

That is very possible, and obviously it's tragic for your cousin, but surely you can understand when people in the public eye in positions of leadership, as Cain was or wanted to be, that their reckless behavior is in fact irresponsible, because they set the standard for those they want to follow them. It's why we blasted Cain AT THAT TIME before we knew he was possibly infected as he sat in those pictures without a mask, at a Trump rally where nearly no one wore masks.

I'm sorry he died, but it's also true he made his choices, and it was to ignore the guidelines and to therefore encourage others to do the same. It's fair IMO even now to point to him as the example of what not to do. Same way my dad when young showed me pictures of a teen who blew off his hand playing with explosives, freely available at that time - M80s as I recall.

Bull.

Left wingers set this up. Out of thousands of people at the rally who could have become infected and died, the one person who just happened to be victimized was a famous black Republican.

Hermain Cain's life was taken in order to set up Trump. The plan was too obvious. And the far left has sunk to a low they will never be able to recover from.

Q! WWG1WGA! MAGA!!

Just leave it at that and you won't sound so deranged.

Well, Lewis was an actual hero with a long record in the house and was beloved by many.

Cain ran a pizza company, ran for president and lost. He then did something incredibly stupid which led to his death.
Its telling how a self made conservative black man is so threatening to progressives that even before his body is cold the fangs are out. The irony here is that these type of insults are coming from the crowdthat are feigning offense over Trump declining to attendyour boy's services.

I wouldn't expect Cain to receive more coverage than Lewis. And it's telling that your first instinct is "the media," rather than "the family."
Im not aware of any of his family members being members of this forum but my coldences go out them.
Secondly i dont know why your surprised that i am comparing the differing coverage of the two. They are both recently deceased political icons.
Out of curiosity do you have the same critism of the people goving political speeches at the lewis services that you do of me?
I think thou protests too much because my observation exposes an uncomfortable truth that your ashamed of.

I'd like to see him memorialized in part as a cautionary lesson. It's a great opportunity for all of us to remember that this virus isn't a hoax, it's serious, can kill you, and all of us have a responsibility to ourselves and others to do our part and contain it. Wear a mask. Don't go to large gatherings. Wash your hands. Stay safe now and we'll all get through this. It's in fact a way to honor him. Many families used deaths from overdose or other causes as cautionary tales for others. If doing that saves a life, it's a good thing, and a service to him and his family and the country. RIP Herman Cain.

My objection is that it was your first reaction. Condolences should have been your first. John Lewis is an American icon. Herman Cain is not. Plus, Lewis is being eulogized right now. The media is of course going to focus on that. They've already reported Cain's death.

When your posts resemble eulogies, then your question will make sense. Ironically, so far, IMO, GW gave the best eulogy. He brought humor and humility into his words. Lousy speaker, just like Biden, but he speaks from the heart, just like Biden. Obama is speaking now, and although I don't disagree with his words, I do agree that he's politicizing Lewis' memory far too much.

People who wear masks catch it too. Hows all that science working out for them.

If you aren't able to see the benefits of wearing a mask, then all logic is lost on you. Masks help to greatly reduce the spread, yeah, you can get it if you wear a mask, but the odds are much smaller.

You would rather be deliberately ignorant than to learn.

And people who wear seatbelts die in accidents. No preventative measure is 100% effective.

He tested negative at the rally, meaning he didn't get it before attending...but a week afterwards he was hospitalized and several others, including Trump campaign staff were also diagnosed with Covid19...2+2 always equals 4...he got it at the rally.
He may of or he may of caught it the next day someplace else. Some mask wearing zealot may of gave it to him. You want everyone to assume he caught it at the rally because you think that gives you something to gloat over.

We all know that masks aren't 100% effective (what you've shown) but we also know they are very effective if everyone does their part. He used his position of leadership to set a dangerous example to others. It's fair to point that out.

I always enjoyed Cain. I met him in NH when he was running for President. He was a nice man, with a warm smile and a good handshake. He was promoting his 999 plan at the time and while I didn't agree that it was ideal, I found his idea very interesting and he did a great job of articulating it. He was a smart businessman and from what I understand, he was a good family man.

I'm sorry that his lie ended so tragically. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted by their memories.

That would be too close to expressing empathy, something he incapable of doing.

We are talking about the guy whose ones after having a Yazidi refugee from Iraq explain that ISIS had killed her family asked “Where are they now?”

Perfect post.

He could have caught it anywhere. Of course, but that will just be the caption under the rally photos. Without tracing it's impossible to determine where he contracted covid. That doesn't mean we should ignore irresponsible behavior, especially from a leader.

Hard to believe that the right would use that argument after the president just snubbed the Lewis funeral.

Any conservative butthurt over the left being mean to Mr. Cain, ought to take a deep breath and dig up one of the threads of Elijah Cummings when he passed. Then they should just not exhale that whiny bull****

RIP Mr. Cain

Im curious to see how the media covers his death in contrast to the coverage lewis has been recieving.

Why?.

Bull. With all due respect, this is not a well intentioned post, it is a swipe at Trump, cleverly disguised as kind words.

This was a far left wing set up. Out of thousands of people at the rally who could have gotten sick and died, it just happened to be a famous black Republican.

When the people responsible for this are discovered, Cain will Rest In Peace.

This tragedy only further underscores the dangers of the extreme far left.

Right, let’s watch all the lefties not being douches in this thread. :D

Stop it. All the "lefties" have not been douches in this thread; several have expressed regret at his passing and empathy for his loved ones. It's just that "righties" like you, Trix and others have ignored them in your zeal to find posts that you consider to be "douche-like". Just stop the damned hackery for once, okay?

Yup, it reminds me of the anti-smoking advertisement that Yul Brinner filmed before he died of cancer.

OK, comrade. Q!! etc.

You've made yourself irrelevant to any rational conversation lately. At least you should try to hide your intent with non-batcrap crazy stuff. As is the trolling is too obvious and therefore not effective, or even interesting. SAD!
