Trump Plays on Racist Fears of Terrorized Suburbs to Court White Voters

I didn't miss anything. Since you haven't tried to refute the charge, and are only posting whataboutisms, I can assume you agree that Trump is playing on racist fears.

Probably more over concerns about the feds dictating local zoning ordinances.

Clearly you missed the sarcasm in my post above. I said "all those Republicans out burning and looting" which clearly isn't the case. It is the democrats fanning the anarchy going on right now. The evil entitled democrats behind all of the misery, hoping that the more miserable people are they will vote for sleepy Joe Biden.

Cool story bro.

You start. Don't complain when crime in your area skyrockets

Because everyone in low income housing is a criminal, right? But the suburban dwellers aren't.

Can you post a link to show how crime "skyrockets" when Section 8 housing is built?

Well, yeah, it is about racism at the core of these problems. Violence is a characteristic of poverty ridden and segregated communities that were created through racist policies

So riddle me this Batman: If poverty creates crime, then why isn't there more crime in White Appalachia like we see in South Chicago, Baltimore, and Compton?

Maybe the real answer is that CRIME creates poverty, not the other way around.

Post a link to people saying they are afraid of Section 8 housing.

Are you kidding me? How about you show me any homeowner who has invested in place to live who likes seeing a neighborhood turn into section 8 housing losers and criminals? Show me one homeowner that would want that, or who when it does begin to occur just doesn't get the hell out of dodge and sell their home?

Are you seriously going to argue that neighborhoods that turn into welfare communities have rising property values?

Clearly you look at all of these situations from the perspective the "give me free stuff" and who cares who has to pay the price point of view.

So you can't back it up. Just say that next time.

I don't get free stuff. I didn't even get stimulus checks (socialist money) from Uncle Sam because my husband and I make too much money. We have a new Section 8 housing in our town. It didn't impact our home value at all. In fact, our home value went up.

I'm sorry you hate poor people. No wonder you're a Trump supporter. So much hate.

Is there any evidence— even anecdotal evidence from residents of low income housing— that their lives are substantially improved due to the HUD plan?

Ok-- you bought a house where you wanted to buy a house.
Should the feds come in and direct local zoning laws?

LOL. If you don't want people rioting in your neighborhood you're a raaaaaacist!

Anyone who owns a house understands that house owners are rightly concerned about two things: (a) the quality of life in the neighborhood and (b) the value of his/her house when s/he decides to put it on the market.

President Trump, I believe, was simply telling people that he would try to help those house owners when it came to points (a) and (b).

I commend the President for his political courage, for his position will, of course, make some people "dislike" him even more than they already do.

Boy, is this stoking an age-old fear. I remember when George Mahoney ran for governor of MD in 1966 with the motto, "Your home is your castle; protect it!"

He was defeated by Spiro Agnew, who was less racist, at that point.

Unfortunately, such fool-hardy policy will only mean that suburban areas will have ghettos - some already do - with crime that spills into the wealthier, whiter 'burbs, but it puts housing out of reach for the children of suburbanites who have returned home with college debt and low paying jobs.

One cannot condemn violence and poverty in segregated ghettos and also deny decent housing opportunities to low income, predominately African-american people - people whose parents and grand parents were denied the right to move to the 'burbs before them.

Really?

Many black communities are concerned about losing their local police.

Joe's Biden's 1994 crime bill support was racist. He was calling them predators.

Most of these rioters are white, and are hiding behind the pretense of fighting for black people - and are now claiming that critics of the riots are 'racist'

This is race-baiting going to unlimited extremes.

"Ignore the shooting, stabbing, beating, and burning - we think there's a small chance that this guy who broke some windows might not be a Democrat. Quick! Make it a national news story!!"

You see, once again the Democrats explain that their base has no agency and can only blindly follow. How can they be blamed for the arson and violence when that guy broke some windows?

There are fewer people.

However, the social ills of poverty are just as evident in Applachia as there is in the inner city. Indeed rates of single parenthood, drug addiction, minor crime, drugs are all just as bad in rural poor white America.

How does it help the low-income family by being put in a suburb when they have no reliable transport to low-cost stores, free clinics, laundromats, etc.?!?

Where will they work to keep up with the standards and "requirements" of living in suburbs? Or is the municipality now required to move all those conveniences - including jobs - to the suburbs because of the low-income families?!?
Jobs have moved out of the urban areas into the suburbs to accommodate the suburban dwellers. There are plenty of industrial parks, shopping centers and supermarkets they can work in. More there than in the inner city

If this is truly Trump's position, I disagree with it.

But somehow, I question the accuracy of the NYT reporting...

And any other news source that is not fox, no surprise there.

Take away the racism and there's nothing left of Trumpism.

There are its handmaidens. Appeals to ignorance, fearmongering, xenophobia and jingoism.

You don’t know much about this do you?

Most of the people who live in the inner cities work in the suburbs. There are no jobs in the inner cities. I see it every day. The incoming traffic carries suburban to the office. The outbound traffic is vans carpools and busses that carry low income people to low pay jobs in the Mall, the box store, the constructions site.

Is "whataboutism" the new word in the liberal playbook?

Trump isn't playing on any fears, people are already afraid by watching the news. The same news which has to continually insert "mostly peaceful" into the commentary as the flames are raging in many liberal controlled cities.

How bizarre that the left is claiming that the Trump administration is causing the unrest in Portland because he sent federal officers to protect a federal building from being destroyed.

You made his point very well.

White fear and racism is the loadstone of Trumpism. Trump never really tried to hide it. He plays to it openly now. Right wing media has always played to it.

Whataboutism is the Left's new argument to block any discussion of their hypocrisy and double standards -- because hypocrisy and double standards are what the Left are striving for -- just like Orwell's Animal Farm.

Funny how the more that the Modus- 0porandi of the wealthy white privilege for housing the low income in cramped spaces at a robust profit for themselves changes the more it stays the same.

You got to admit when it comes to planning out Low Income storage type housing , on a generational basis even , nobody knows it better than wealthy white privilege socialists :
