Christopher David is not the man of steel. The Portlander earned that and other nicknames — some call him "Captain Planet" or "Supersoldier" — after he stood as solidly as a rock while federal officers pepper sprayed him and struck him at least five times with a baton during a rally outside the Hatfield Courthouse on Saturday, July 18.

..Of the attack, captured on video by the Portland Tribune, David says he "just took it."
The unmatched series of protests here have waxed and waned for more than 50 nights, but Saturday's rally was David's first, his attendance spurred by reports of unmarked vans snatching protesters off the streets without due process.

He arrived around 8 p.m. and was just planning on leaving when federal officers burst out of the bricked-up front of the courthouse around 10:45 p.m.

David said he slowly approached the officers, hoping to engage them in dialogue.

"I felt these gentlemen were violating their oath of office, and I wanted to talk to them," he explained.

"That oath of office is essentially swearing loyalty to the Constitution of the United States, and what they're doing is not constitutional anymore."

The video is remarkable. Dude is one bad-ass.

When you calmly walk up to "POLICE" (or at least they have that sewn on them) and get an ass beating just for trying.

Lot of Super-Trumpers are saying they deserved it but I already seen tons of videos of the Federal Soldiers assaulting non violent people.

I guess he should have been home instead of out rioting.

You need to look up the definition of "rioting" I don't think that word means what you think it does...

This is what the result is when the local authorities refuse to take a stand against anarchy. Did anyone think it was going to end well?

That's the problem. The goal of protesters is not anarchy, it's social justice. Taking a stand against anarchy results in more law and order. Taking a stand against social justice always results in less law and order and more anarchy. This is why Trump's DHS goons in Portland are causing the very anarchy they think they are battling against. Meeting social justice protests with overwhelming force is like trying to douse a fire with gasoline.

Still trust the DHS?

Protesting, and exercising your first amendment rights is not 'rioting'.

It's "logical 1" what do you expect?

The guy was just standing there. The most he was doing was shouting something and that's no reason for the police to physically assault him. If you had done the same thing you'd be in jail on charges of assault, why is it ok for the authorities to be able to use such force indiscriminately?

Only protesters allowed are heavily armed white guys demanding access to their mani-pedis.....

I've noticed when the police encounter "protesters" with Automatic rifles and such (Statehouse take-over), things go very smoothly and even when the protesters threaten public officials, they are ...Heh..heh.."Just good 'ol boys"..yeah..How con-ven-ient

Trhmpists are just trying to justify what they always wanted to do. Also ill leave this here.
Police Knew Far-Right Extremists Were the Real Threat at George Floyd Protests, Not “Antifa”

This is what the result is when the local authorities refuse to take a stand against anarchy. Did anyone think it was going to end well?

Well let's start at the beginning. No sense in starting at a comfortable partisan place:

1) Football players peacefully kneel during the National Anthem to protest highly disproportionate police brutality upon black people. This message is rejected so that people can parade around their false patriotism.

2) People begin protesting in the streets after more black people become a part of that highly disproportionate statistic, with some idiots taking to looting, destruction of property, and rioting. The police show up and, instead of holding a moral and professional position, some take to violence too and behave just like the jackasses on the other side. An old man can't even walk up and return a helmet to a cop (his fellow American citizen) without getting shoved on his ass, while National Guardsmen from behind kneel down to help him. This type of behavior raises the stakes and dares further violence from protesters who are already fed up with seeing even peaceful demonstrations gassed and shoved about. The message, by the way, is once again rejected as people focus on only the criminal element while politicians create false platforms.

3) In the meantime, local authorities prove that they are no better than their Congressional and White House trash, who have become far too comfortable with defaulting to the military to fix all problems in the world. Instead of dealing with their fellow American citizens, they treat them like domestic enemies, call in the military, and tell their cops to simply fall back and let the military handle crowd control.

Local authorities failed, because our politicians routinely celebrate their lack of leadership, the police force has for too long celebrated their bad apples, and once again...all look to the military to fix what is not its problem. Maybe we can send combat hardened Marines to the borders to fill sandbags while the Border Patrol watches. Oh, wait...they did that too.

And the sad thing is that as much as people want what is going on today to be "anarchy," 2020 has nothing on what happened in 1968 when the chaos was more violent and more destructive. People conveniently forget their history (or just don't know it) when it came to the mass riots that shook Washington, Chicago, Baltimore and other U.S. cities...along with the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy...along with the creation of militant groups...along with the Vietnam protests. Today, we have jackasses whining about the idea of a mask, morons tearing down even non-Confederate statues, and a population that has decided that all things under the sun simply must be politicized, instead of simply a right and wrong.

Trumpism is fascism.

He is assuming that the victim is on the left. Therefore he delights in government abuse of the victim.

If these officers were supposedly unidentified then how did he know they were "federal" officers?

It was a guess. Unmarked and unidentified is them pulling up in unmarked vehicles and covering or not wearing identification.

But they do wear identification. Shoulder insignia. Unmarked vehicles is not an issue.

Personal identification, so it is known some wannabe isnt trying to kidnap someone which is pretty much what happened.

The reason trumpists defend to the death the boot of the police no matter what they do is because they want us to believe this is the most normal and natural thing to do. They want to normalize it.
