This is what the result is when the local authorities refuse to take a stand against anarchy. Did anyone think it was going to end well?
Well let's start at the beginning. No sense in starting at a comfortable partisan place:
1) Football players peacefully kneel during the National Anthem to protest highly disproportionate police brutality upon black people. This message is rejected so that people can parade around their false patriotism.
2) People begin protesting in the streets after more black people become a part of that highly disproportionate statistic, with some idiots taking to looting, destruction of property, and rioting. The police show up and, instead of holding a moral and professional position, some take to violence too and behave just like the jackasses on the other side. An old man can't even walk up and return a helmet to a cop (his fellow American citizen) without getting shoved on his ass, while National Guardsmen from behind kneel down to help him. This type of behavior raises the stakes and dares further violence from protesters who are already fed up with seeing even peaceful demonstrations gassed and shoved about. The message, by the way, is once again rejected as people focus on only the criminal element while politicians create false platforms.
3) In the meantime, local authorities prove that they are no better than their Congressional and White House trash, who have become far too comfortable with defaulting to the military to fix all problems in the world. Instead of dealing with their fellow American citizens, they treat them like domestic enemies, call in the military, and tell their cops to simply fall back and let the military handle crowd control.
Local authorities failed, because our politicians routinely celebrate their lack of leadership, the police force has for too long celebrated their bad apples, and once again...all look to the military to fix what is not its problem. Maybe we can send combat hardened Marines to the borders to fill sandbags while the Border Patrol watches. Oh, wait...they did that too.
And the sad thing is that as much as people want what is going on today to be "anarchy," 2020 has nothing on what happened in 1968 when the chaos was more violent and more destructive. People conveniently forget their history (or just don't know it) when it came to the mass riots that shook Washington, Chicago, Baltimore and other U.S. cities...along with the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy...along with the creation of militant groups...along with the Vietnam protests. Today, we have jackasses whining about the idea of a mask, morons tearing down even non-Confederate statues, and a population that has decided that all things under the sun simply must be politicized, instead of simply a right and wrong.
