White House campaign urges jobless to ‘find something new’

Most of those jobs are low paying hard labor jobs, not exactly booming. Deal with the virus first then most jobs will come back, not all but most. They economy will have to adjust but that was just a matter of time anyway.

Never heard of "Can walk and chew gum"?

Check out the companion website ...

"The companion website offers links to education and training options, including online and virtual learning."

You cannot learn welding or auto mechanics on a virtual website, just to name a few.

And rightly so. A temporary hazard pay for medical staff would have been justified, but not a permanent bill that would artificially increase the pay for every "essential" worker.

"Artificially" increase their pay? What's the "non-artificial" way to increase someone's pay? I was under the impression that you needed a human to decide to do it.

there are ways to do that but there are some professions that are hiring. Right now companies are still hiring for jobs.
there are a lot of jobs out there and people need to take the initiative to go get the skills to do it.

There aren't "lots" of jobs. And it's going to become worse because Trump is an incompetent buffoon.

The Cons have proven to not be good at multi tasking, heck they haven't proven they are good at any tasks as of late, it hasn't that dawned on you yet?

:) Separating one provision out of a massive bill and pretending it was the only thing in the bill doesn't exactly come off as terribly precise or accurate.

Just the provision that would have mattered the most to those working class employees.

Republicans pay lip service to the working class but they aren't willing to put their money where their mouth is like the Democrats are.

The liberals here are determined not to understand that. Pointless to even debate with them ...

I was looking for something a little more...concrete.

Wait, you wanted more than a slick ad featuring Ivanka?

The thing is it's great to encourage things like vocational training. Here in Tennessee the state funds 2 years of community college or vocational training for any Tennessean. That's a great program and I support it 100%. It came about after years of collaboration between employers, telling the state what skills they needed, and community colleges and other institutions. And so our red state funded the program, and it's one of the very few initiatives from our dark red legislature that I am behind without reservation. We also fund scholarships for 4 year degrees. Also great.

But those things cost money. Encouraging working people in a pandemic to get more training without funding the program isn't useful, it's an ad campaign. It's frankly what most of those 'training' programs are - woefully inadequate programs run for a short time with little or no funding and doomed to fail.

Anyway, I looked and didn't find a lot of 'meat' to this campaign, but I'd love to be proved wrong. I'll wait for someone to point out what I'm missing.

nothing to do with what i said congrats on your "trump bad" failure of an argument.

I suppose "find something new" was the understandable next step from "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and "trickle down economy."

White House campaign urges jobless to '''find something new'''

A new White House-backed ad campaign aims to encourage people who are unemployed or unhappy in their jobs or careers to go out and “find something new.”

Sounds like advice that should be considered a "no-brainer". I mean, if you are unemployed or unhappy with your job then, of course, the best thing to do is to "find something new". Who wants to remain unemployed or unhappy?

Oh...wait...yeah, some people like you, Cardinal, think the government should pass laws that FORCE employers to give people jobs that make them happy. Am I right?

There aren't "lots" of jobs. And it's going to become worse because Trump is an incompetent buffoon.

Says the guy with the incompetent buffoon as his avatar. You guys had 4 years to come up with a competent alternative to Trump and you failed. When Trump wins again, Bidunces wont know what hit them.

Just the provision that would have mattered the most to those working class employees.

Which does nothing to address my point - seperating one part of a massive bill and pretending like it was the only thing in the bill isn't exactly correct, and, if you knew that when you did it, it's also dishonest.

Republicans pay lip service to the working class but they aren't willing to put their money where their mouth is like the Democrats are.

[emoji38] Democrats don't care about the working class. Their animating spirits are the Woke Intersectionals now, not those icky lower middle class white folks who switched over to vote for Trump.

You said there were lots of jobs, but now you claim that was not what you said? Or maybe you did not mean that there were lots of jobs even though that is what you said? It is difficult to follow your logic.

Hopefully we can find some new jobs for the current administration.

But you can if you sign up with "Colleges of applied Science", formerly known as trade schools.

Would you hire someone that studied a trade online but has never done any hands on training? We both know the answer.

GO read my post was pretty clear, but this is the typical dishonesty i expect from leftist.
There are ton of jobs our there and companies are still hiring.

One must during certain times change skills to do something different.
At some point in time the bus boy will want to learn to wait tables. he is going to need to learn the skills
about waiting tables. If he wants to work in the kitchen he is going to need to learn the skills to work in the kitchen.

Good grief, man. You don't even know what "Colleges of applied science" are ... :lamo

In order to hire a trade they usually have to pass a test and be certified from the state. The state requires X amount of experience etc ...
them studying a trade however would get them on with a company that does that trade though.

Did I say lower middle class? I said working class. You know, all the people who've been working through this pandemic to keep basic functionality operational. As one of those people, let me tell you, it's quite clear who has more appreciation for us, and it ain't the Republicans.

It sounds like you agree that re-opening the economy is unnecessary then.

Democrats care about the working-class, but they aren't willing to become racists to attract racist working-class votes.

Schools are not open right now. I am pretty sure that includes universities that provide applied science courses. Until we figure out how to open schools safely, yours is a moot point.

Umm schools are not open because of summer vacation periods. there are still schools that are offering online classes for summer school.
you once again don't know what you are talking about.
