Trump commutes sentence of longtime adviser Roger Stone

130,000 dead Americans were totally worth not having a COVID response because it pisses off the left and that's all that matters.

I heard it started in Trump Towers and Trump had Putin cover it up. Is that what you heard, too?

It is complicated. Mainers like to view themselves as fiercely independent, especially in more rural areas. If you look up to Maryp's post on why, as a Dem, she is going to vote for Collins it make give you a glimpse. I never in a million years thought LePage would get re-elected.
The days of George Mitchell, William Cohen and Margaret Chase Smith are long, long gone.
But I will relish being proven wrong.

Well, Maine being fiercely independent, they should elect a fiercely independent senator rather than one that states out loud that she is independent, then rolls over.

I think SNL nailed the Susan Collins most of America sees....

That ain't no woman with a spine.

I don't disagree. Susan has them all Snowe'd.
(See what I did there?)

I really hate the idea of the president being able to unilaterally commute sentences.

Ranked choice voting is a factor for Maine’s election though.

There are two Independents running--one is very much left, a grandmother and teacher hoping for world peace, the other is a Republican "Trump Strong," tried running for senate in '18 against Angus King but was disqualified for fraudulent signatures on his ballot access petitions. Neither has any political experience. Maybe they're popular, but I haven't heard much. Of course, I don't have a tv.

I actually thought would wait until after the election. Maybe he thinks his chances of winning are gone......

I mean even if he loses in November, he still has the rest of November, December, and most of January to still commute/pardon people, so that doesn't really hold up logically.

"Turn on him"....suggests Stone has something criminal on Trump and he pleaded for a commutation in exchange for not doing so. Quid pro quo.

One would think there would be some sort of factual basis behind such a claim.

Yes. It is going to be an interesting issue. The American people do need to know of the nature and extent of Trump's corruptionS. In the interest of protecting the integrity of the American presidency, we likely need it exposed and punished. History must ruthless in its admonishment of what happened here.

Our need for justice, however, has to be tempered with political realities. I am not advocating the banana republic "lock her up" stuff the Trump tried to peddle. I think there are legitimate issues of justice AND definition of the powers of the Presidency that must be established.

I honestly think some very, very ugly things have happened over the past four years that future presidents must realize are completely off-limits and forever dissuaded from ever pursuing a similar path. We can't have the Trump administration "normalized" it is not. It has been "abhorrent"...and history must record it as such and the participants must be made to feel the public shame of their transgressions before they leave this earth. They need to have their legacies shoved in their respective faces.

Ok-- so we want to investigate the investigation of the investigation.

The worse that has happened over the past few years has been the baseless and groundless allegation that the Trump campaign had conspired with Russia in 2016. That poisonous conspiracy theory has caused a lot of political damage in this country.

Brakey is in a primary to unseat Rep Golden, not Sen. Susan Collins, and he spent two terms in the State Senate.

See also Maryp's post up yonder. That is what people who want Susan gone are up against. There is this fallacy that Collins is bipartisan, yet she votes overwhelmingly with Trump and Co.

If you will notice, I never said she was "bipartisan." She is a moderate Republican, as far as I can tell. She votes her conscience, which is a different conscience than a Democrat's. One of my coworkers is always snarking that she's a phony--talks all moderate and then votes with the Republicans. And I keep reminding him, Well, yeah, she's a Republican.

Lisa Savage and Max Linn are the two Independents I know of running for US Senate. Did I get that wrong?

What, a conviction for lying, obstruction and witness tampering isn't enough?

Listen to the interview by Mark Dice on YouTube.

PS. I know you won't.

Damn right I won't. Unlike you I don't waste my time and mind traipsing my way through mindless conspiracy theorist YouBoob videos. The sanitizer I have only cleans my hands.

Enough for what? That Stone has info on criminal stuff of Trump?
Please.

Republicans have consciences??? That news!

Of course he commuted Roger Stones sentence rather than pardon him so that he doesn't lose his 5th Amendment privileges so as to allow him to avoid giving testimony about his calls with Trump. Trump is giving his freedom to ensure his silence. This is a crime. This is obstruction.

Nope. He can't write a tell all book because he cannot profit from his crimes. No more, no less.

Meanwhile, leftist governors have used the excuse of the Wuhan Virus to release thousands of criminals all over the country, and none of you Trump haters could care less about it.

Round and round we go...
Stone had nothing because there was nothing to have...

More like Banana Republicans we go

Trump’s commuting of Stone’s sentence will likely encourage other lackies and Moscow to commit similar crimes to help Trump hold onto power. They illegally support him and he protects them from the consequences. It’s the kind of thing that can end freedom in a country.

McMullin

Funny how all the Real Libertarians and Conservatives like Evan and the team on the Lincoln Project seem to know the score.

She isn't moderate. Her voting record shows she votes almost exclusively with Trump. Those are the facts.

No, I forgot about Linn. He is easily forgettable. As I said earlier in here I fully except Sweet to also run 3rd party if she loses the primary.
