Nation building is on the people and they were trying to set up some human-rights western-loving democracy in a region that mostly doesn't understand it.

Of course that happened. It's tribalism and sectarianism. It takes an iron fist to keep the factions from just straight up killing each other in many of those areas. There is a reason that ISIS was able to gain so much ground an it wasn't nearly based on their fighting capability. The Kurds were our best allies, with the nearest chance at setting up something that would be stable and viable. We should've backed them to get their own homeland, if we were going to back anyone.

Well he knew that stepping out, gaining the data, testifying he would be royally screwed - he also knew his brothers career was also at risk

Am I surprised - nope- we saw how he went after McCain, Gold Star parents, and many others

We have seen many who had impeccable careers ended & pushed out by Trump loyalists.

Vindman was detailed to the WH NSC by the chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff.

After Trump chased Vindman out of the WH the LTC returned to the chairman of the JCS.

He was approved for the rank of colonel by the Pentagon Colonels Promotion Board signed off on by SecDef Esper. While you're prattling on about deep state Trump is in deep sh!t with the armed forces over this too among many serious trangressions against our troops and our national security.
