I didn't know he was that old.

RIP

Time moves fast! I try to tell young people they will be old before they know it. They don't believe me. I know I didn't believe it when I was young.

I remember the days when this song was believable. Those days were also good times in many ways.

“...........via Omaha!”

I didn’t realize this was CD for a long time. I think Devil went down......drowned this one out.

I love that song! It perfectly reflected the times. The diatribe just before the end is fantastic!

I won't post the videos out of respect for the thread's R.I.P. status, but immediately I had flashback to "Coming into Los Angeles" and "Alice's Restaurant"! I'm sure Charlie would approve of my referencing his friend, Arlo.

I saw the Charlie Daniels Band on Daytona Beach in the early 1980s. We had driven a conversion van from outside of DC. We had plenty of beer on ice in the van. All I remember is a rather large AA motor officer that gave me the choice of pouring my beer out or “coming with him!” No contest I quipped as the beer flowed into the sand........all drinking was then done inside the van...:drink

Certainly a major loss.

RIP, Charlie :(

A friend of mine was staying with his family at a hotel. He took his kids to the hotel pool and there was no one there except a big guy standing in the pool hanging out. It was Charlie Daniels. My friend didn't recognize him at first. Charlie talked to him and to the kids. They had water fights with him. He stayed for quite a while and was just a regular guy. Daniels then told them if they'd like to go to his concert he'd make sure there would be tickets at the front desk for the family.

Charlie Daniels was from Wilmington, NC but once he started playing in Nashville Daniels fell in love with Tennessee.

Damn. Hope he's not dealin' with The Devil.

We saw him in concert ~10 yrs ago. He still had it. And took great joy in shredding the horse hairs on his bow when playing his signature piece. It was played live, sung live and enjoyed live. No lip syncing and no sound/lighting special effects. And the crowd sung long after his voice gave out.

RIP CDB.

I can't tell you how hard I scoffed at the arrival of 2000. I thought it was SOOOO far off when I was young.

I remember when I learned how to add and subtract, and thinking and ‘rithmeticing on how old I was going to be in the year 2000.

“........when I wore a younger man’s clothes,.......”

saw him in concert, he was amazing. he played devil so hard his bow string started coming apart little by little and flapping back and forth as he played lol.

that was a fun concert!

Years back I worked with a southern boy who worked with Lynyrd Skynyrd for a time. They all got to go to a party at Charlie's house.
Some time in the party Charlie rode his horse in through the front door of his house. Charlie's wife Hazel soon came out with a broom to usher them back out.

Needless to say it was quite a party .

RIP Charlie
