I have read the writings of slavery apologists of the 1850's, on a whole host of topics of the time. So why don't you define for me what a "conservative" is, we'll see how well they match with the standard mainstream slave owner ideology, hm?

At the most basic level, the term "conservative" means a support for tradition and a resistance to change.

Well then, that kind of depends what kind of "tradition" or "change" you're talking about then. Slavery has been banned for over 150 years. If I support slavery today, that doesn't make a conservative because that's a "change" from what we have today.

you however, would be conservative for being against that position.
