It's that fascination with celebrity. Singers, actors, athletes, hell, pro rasslers get elected to high office. But at least Reagan had experience as a governor. Trump has made President of the United States an entry-level position.

Why would anyone name an airport or anything else after an actor or a Hollywood celebrity? All they have done is make a movie or a TV show to entertain us a bit. I liked John Wayne Movies, I personally think he was one of best actors I've seen. But naming an airport after him?

If any entertainer deserves something named after him, I suggest Bob Hope with his USO shows entertaining the troops overseas during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Or perhaps Martin Sheen, he played a president on TV with the right political ideology. I'm serious about Bob Hope, joking about Martin Sheen.

Or we could revert to Orange County Airport A, then Orange County Airport B and so on, then no one will ever has a reason to be upset about the name.
