Biden Takes Dominant Lead as Voters Reject Trump on Virus and Race

A New York Times/Siena College poll finds that Joseph R. Biden Jr. is ahead of the president by 14 points, leading among women and nonwhite voters and cutting into his support with white voters.

Biden Trump poll.jpg

Continuing to gain Pres. Trump, Biden now has a commanding 50% to 36% lead. The Times says, "...the distaste for Mr. Trump has deepened as his administration failed to stop a deadly disease that crippled the economy and then as he responded to a wave of racial-justice protests with angry bluster and militaristic threats. The dominant picture that emerges from the poll is of a country ready to reject a president whom a strong majority of voters regard as failing the greatest tests confronting his administration."

I would add that the country is also rejecting Trump's anti-democracy, pro-authoritarian administration that has replaced seasoned and professional experts with Trump loyalists, like in the Justice Department, who think it is their job to prosecute Trump enemies and go easy on his allies.

It's so surprising that deluded views reflected in the NYT are appreciated by those who are similarly deluded.

Whatever Joe Biden is doing right now, he should do more of it.

The Economist has Biden in front also.

Forecasting the US elections

The Economist is analysing polling, economic and demographic data to predict America’s elections in 2020

Right now, our model thinks Joe Biden is very likely to beat Donald Trump in the electoral college.

Can you show us a poll with Trump in the lead?

What are you saying, that the NYT made up the polling numbers? They are what every other poll -- including Fox, is reporting.

You need to control your cognitive dissonance, that rejects any facts that contradict your ingrained viewpoint.

Gotta hand it to Putin for muddying Hillary.

How, we all know what we got with Trump and most don't like it. Can he recover? Michael Moore thinks so. But for now, Trump is the one that is sliding and the more he slides, the more he jumps the shark and says more stupid stuff that he then has to walk back as a "joke."

Yes. Look at size of the Biden rallies! Average attendance of 114,000 - no wonder Trump is envious.

Trump's numbers are lowering. Biden's are not increasing. the "margin" is all the democrats have to argue and it bit them in the ass last time.

Ridiculous. This time around, Democrats have Trump to argue. Thing is, Trump is the Democrats' best campaign ad. Democrats don't have to argue anything. Trump does all of it by himself. Such a multi-talented, multi-tasking buffoon. Trumpy. Destined to fail.

One difference- now Trump has a track record, he isn't new blood anymore. Baggage, he has baggage now. He can't ride the coattails of Obama's economy any longer, either.
Honestly, based on his track record, do you see him rehabing his image? Think he can do something to get most Americans on his side?

More evidence that Trump is way out of his depth, attempting to yell and bellow his way out of trouble. Hell, he'd be out of his depth in a parking lot puddle.

Hillary won 48.2% of the vote (vs. Trump's 46.1% - he lost the popular vote) so the polling was actually pretty accurate.

Biden also isn't Hillary, he doesn't come with the same vitriolic hatred that a lot of people had for her. He is also building coalitions with the progressive wing of the party and running as a center-left big tent candidate, unlike Hillary who was seen as a center right democrat with huge corporate ties and who played a dirty campaign within the party against Sanders. Biden also has huge following given his work in the Obama administration, and has enormous support by black people. He's also been in politics for decades and has a net positive approval rating which is almost unheard of.

Additionally Hillary had the email investigation bs against her. Trump destroyed his chance of engaging in a politically-based false investigation with the Burisma bs and his recent comments to the Chinese dictator to meddle in the election on his behalf. Any investigation against Biden that comes out simply won't stick because nobody will believe it; they'll all just remember the fake Burisma investigation and think it's another one of those.

She was also running against a newcomer that had zero political track record or history so it was easy for him to sit on the side and criticize; Trump now has a record of abysmal failure and literally nothing good to campaign on. I believe it's also unprecedented in history for an incumbent President to be polling so low relative to their challenger. The only thing going for him is Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression initiatives.

If the GOP invalidates the GA vote because of voter suppression, the election is over for Trump.

He is running against himself, while Cool Joe is sitting back and smiling.

It's gonna get dirty. Too soon yet, probably, but I expect late this summer that certain foreign intelligence agencies will kick into gear, digging and manufacturing dirt on Biden. That plus the gerrymandering and vote shenanigans may well be all they've got.

Interesting. The NYTimes/Siena pollster is one of only six with an A+ rating from 538, which is important because a 14 point lead feels at first like it’s outlier AF.

Sure but it probably won't work. I edited my post to address this, but the fake Burisma investigation already dashed any hopes of starting a fake politically-motivated investigation into Biden by Barr because nobody will believe it. And he already had a sexual assault claim against him which went nowhere because he addressed it responsibly and her story turned out to not be credible at all. Could they find something? Maybe, but he's been in politics so long all of his gaffes and imperfections are already widely known. Creepy Joe, Sleepy Joe, Racist Joe, etc. are all dead horses. I think all Trump could do is hammer on those, but that won't have much of an effect because everybody already knows about them and he's building coalitions with the progressive wing of the party anyways.

Given the current STATE polling results, if all the "Strongly Dem", "Likely Dem", and "Barely Dem" states go Democrat and all the "Strongly Rep", "Likely Rep", and "Barely Rep" states go Republican, then Mr. Biden will win 68.4% to 32.6% (that's Electoral College votes, which are the only ones that count).

However, if only the "Strongly Dem" and "Likely Dem" states go Democrat and all the rest go Republican then Mr. Biden will only win by 56.1% to 43.9% (that's Electoral College votes, which are the only ones that count).

BUT, if only the "Strongly Dem" states go Democrat and all the rest go Republican, then Mr. Biden will lose by 47.95% to 54.05% (that's Electoral College votes, which are the only ones that count).

And the turn out for Mr. Trump's rallies have been <SARC>GINORMOUSLY JUUGE, bigger than the turn out for any other President of the United States of America in history

Hilarious that you are equating Biden with Clinton. Biden is not hated like she was, and a lot more likable. I know several republican friends in PA voting for him in November. They could never support Hillary. Do you have a poll you can show us that showed Hillary leading trump by this much, 4 months before the 2016 election? I know she was leading but I can’t recall it being this side of a gap. I would be worried if I were trump.
