Cuomo slams de Blasio handling of riots, claims he has power to ‘displace’ mayor but not ‘at that point’ | Fox News

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday slammed Bill de Blasio's handling of riots in his city, calling it a "disgrace" and saying he has the power to "displace" the mayor -- though doesn't want to at this point.

"The NYPD, the mayor did not do their job last night," Cuomo said of New York City's mayor. "It was a disgrace."

He said the mayor "underestimates" the scope of the problem, suggesting he needs to deploy more police.

In an extraordinary statement, he went on to say his "option is to displace the mayor ... bring in the National Guard" and essentially "take over."

The rioting has to stop before citizens get fed up with watching their businesses and property literally go up in flames while those who have taken an oath to protect them stand down and do nothing. Sooner or later people are going to band together to protect themselves and their property. This is THE LAST thing we need right now. We'll get it if this goes on much longer.
 
I wish this was the candidate but then even Pee Wee Herman would be better than Trump.

I think Cuomo should just do it, send in the National Guard and replace the mayor. I think there's too much talking. Looters are claiming the day. Apparently it's a free for all, and no businesses are going to want to stay in that situation. They'll simply close up shop, file for bankruptcy and/or take the insurance money and get out. Cities are not that essential anymore, not for retail business or even for trade. So allowing New York to become swamped with crime will in essence only leave the folks that can't get out, and so many of those are the unemployed. The very businesses that pay the taxes that support the unemployed are under threat, so i think Cuomo should just go ahead and take care of the problem!!
 
Cuomo is 100% correct. DeBlasio is moronic for suggesting the violence is just some "idealistic kids" asserting their first amendment rights.

On another point, Cuomo is telling us of the power he holds but hasn't done so yet... just as Trump told us he has the power to invoke the Insurrection act, but hasn't done so yet. I blame the media for writing fake headlines that say Trump is sending in the military. Trump never said that. He said that if the local cities and state governors don't end this, he has the power to stop it. Now it is up to Cuomo to step up to the plate since De Blasio has failed miserably to get his city under control. If Cuomo can't get it done, the president has the rightful power to get the city of NY back to normal.

De Blasio's own daughter was arrested for throwing objects in the street - Not sure even where to begin with this one...

Yes. Lets make a guy president who took a one million dollar bribe to give nursing homes immunity and caused thousands of deaths from his own poor handling. The Como family is one who has two brothers that you can't tell who is dumber dumber.

Funny line So sad. The folks in New York just love the guy though. It like AOC, but worse.

Little wonder New York has descended into anarchy. Not much left to like there. The rich people will be selling out for pennies on the dollar in a few months.

Possibly. It may be that many of these governors in besieged states are hoping Trump will make the decision and take control. That way, they can criticize him while ducking out of responsibility. Cuomo never struck me as a guy that would do that, but then I don't know his record that well. I'm not that familiar with New York anymore. He did seem to show real leadership during the pandemic. Who knows??
 
In all fairness to DeBlasio, he can't mobilize the NG. Cuomo can and should go ahead and make a decision.

What is it that you like best about this clown?

That he condemns the elderly to death camps by inserting infected Covid patients into their population?

That he allows riots to ravage cities in his State killing his residents and destroying their property?

That he has no clue as to what is happening in his state, what to do about or how to do it?

That he alternately whines for help and scolds the folks that are helping?

That he begs for doctors and nurses to come to town to help remedy the outcomes of his idiocy and, after they have done their good works, informs them that they will be taxed in both New York and their home state?

This jack wagon is a clown with no ideas, no plan, no courage and no integrity.
