Wife of ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin reportedly filing for divorce

Possible. But seems odd timing if that was the case. Convenient that it will also net her money that would otherwise be used to fund lawsuits and be paid out in the event that those lawsuits are lost.

Stop making excuses for him. The timing has been explained.

Who has excused him? Let me know how long this divorce takes. if it's over quick because he didn't contest it, that will be telling.

No.

He's scum.

[h=1]Wife of ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin reportedly filing for divorce[/h]
The wife of Derek Chauvin, the fired Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd, has reportedly filed for divorce over his role in the case, according to media reports.
Attorneys for Kellie Chauvin said Friday that she is seeking the “dissolution of her marriage” to Chauvin.
“She is devastated by Mr. Floyd’s death,” a statement on behalf of Kellie Chauvin and her family read. “Her utmost sympathy lies with his family, his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving.”
“She has filed for dissolution of her marriage,” the letter continued.
Kellie Chauvin doesn’t have any children from her current marriage, the letter said, and it was not clear how long the couple have been married.

She also asked for her children and family to have protection. He may have been abusive to her and their kids. I only have one thing I'd ask her; 'what took you so long?'

I think that she could just be appalled by what he did. We don’t know his and we are. She was married to him.

Bias doesn't come into play here. She did it and they reported it. Even a biased source like ny post would need to do a retraction if the said something false about this. Here is another source if you aren't satisfied.

Wife of white cop who kneeled on George Floyd's neck wrote bad check | Daily Mail Online

"DailyMail.com has learned Chauvin’s wife Kellie, a former Mrs. Minnesota America winner, was charged with writing a bad $42 check in February 2005.

And despite multiple letters sent to her home about the bad check, she hadn’t paid the owed money by July of that year, leading to a criminal complaint being filed against her."

Stealing is stealing. She thought she could get away with it. Her husband is a murderer and she is thief.

She is turning out to be a nice milf though so she should go in to pornography.
2005....this is just like finding dirt on any other victim of the cops, isn't it?

"Maybe his wife really loves him and she's just protecting the family financially."

No.

He's scum.

Why would him being scum have any relation to her loving him? Why would love factor into divorce? She married him, who knows why. Convenient that she will profit off of the divorce, and avoid financial ruin.

No, the order is not final. But an uncontested divorce with no kids can be resolved fairly quickly. Once the order is final, the assets are split, and I doubt a civil court would go after her assets for his actions. It's not perfect, but it's a sound move to try to separate her before the avalanche falls on him.

they have kids from what I understand.

I understand that they don't have kids together, but there are kids in the household. Perhaps from her and her late previous husband.

Did you bother reading the link provided in the op?

"Officer Derek Chauvin’s wife, Kellie, who was the 2018 Mrs. Minnesota America winner, was accused of writing a bad check for $42 to Mega Pick’N Save West in February 2005, the Daily Mail reported."

2005 by the Daily mail is your source? for $42 come on now...that sounds like an accounting error and not a string of checks and from 15 years ago? No, she isn't accused of any wrongdoing.

What?

Why are you attacking her?

I don't pretend to know how people feel about each other. People have complex feelings, and if they married I assume it was a good choice for them at the time.

Divorce, on the other hand, is usually about the money.

Can you believe the poor wife of a scumbag racist murderer cop is suffering character assassination by people trying to protect him?

It's like people can't see what they do.

How is that attacking her? She's absolutely doing the best thing fiscally for her family.

they have kids from what I understand.

I believe her children are from a previous marriage. The family statement asked that her children be 'left alone', but reports also say that they have not had children together.

How am I protecting him? From what could I be protecting him? He's in jail. Your post is off the rails, and you have no foundation for your argument against me, when he and his wife are the ones taking actions. Calm down, take a breath, fail less. You'll be ok.

He and his wife are just attempting to protect the wife and the kids from financial ruin from his actions. Not my fault, and in no way a defense of anyone's actions.

Minnesota is a community property state...half of their assets would be subject to the lawsuit for wrongful death, regardless of the divorce...however, once divorced she can now be called to testify against him.

Or maybe she honestly wants a divorce. Maybe she's not lying or cheating or stealing. Maybe she's taking her opportunity to escape the scumbag.

But you gotta believe she's evil, has an ulterior motive (which technically makes the husband a victim), greed. Dunno why that's your position, but it's ****ed up.

I remained married 18 years to a scumbag abuser...it wasn't because it was good...it was because I was protecting my child.

um, she will get half of whatever is left....first debts have to be paid...you do not know what their assets are...you are assuming.

Dude... you're so off base. Why do you think she's lying, or cheating or stealing? No evidence of that. They're divorcing to protect assets for her and the kids. They may not like each other either, who knows. Why would divorcing make her evil? Divorce is not an evil thing, let it go. You seem a bit caught up in their divorce, but I promise you she's not evil, and divorcing is ok, no matter the reason.

Yes. Best to divorce before large legal debts are racked up. And who knows if she'll get half; maybe she'll be entitled to much more, having to raise kids until they are adults.

You're claiming she wants a divorce for financial reasons. That's not honest on her part. That's lying about why she wants a divorce in order to gain financially. So it's cheating and stealing. It also technically makes the husband a victim.

So, in your mind, she's evil and greedy and the husband is a victim.

Why?

I think the point is that his wife committed a similar offense to the guy her husband killed, but nobody pinned her down to the ground and put their kneecap on her neck until she died.

Why would the husband be the victim? He has to agree to the divorce. It's a mutual thing. They are agreeing that it would be better for her to not be financially liable for his actions. Sounds like teamwork to me.

Again, if he contests the divorce and drags it out for several months or years, then it's likely that he is a controlling scumbag. If he signs it quick, seems like it was agreeable to both parties, no victims.
