The Minneapolis officer who was seen on video kneeling on the neck of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who died in custody after pleading that he could not breathe, was arrested Friday.

The rest of the article can be found here.

It took nearly 4 days for this guy to be arrested... and the only reason was (once again) bystander footage. Police must be forced to wear body cams with full audio, and the footage should be analysed and audited by an independent authority.

Makes sense to me.

Someone was saying there might not be sufficient cause to arrest him, but it looks like there was.

Let's make sure he gets a fair trial. The law says he's entitled to a fair trial.

[Cop who murdered an unarmed black man will get more liberty and privilege than the before mentioned black man he murdered.]

It is pretty ridiculous it took this long.

How do you know this was the only reason and that dotting all the "i's" and crossing all the "t's" to ensure that there were no technical issues that could lead to appeal wasn't another reason?

And aren't you glad that the law will be followed (in contrast to how the police officer acted)?

I don't see how anyone can say that. At the minimum there is enough evidence for manslaughter. Given the length of time he was on his neck with multiple people alerting him to the fact that he was killing him without moving there should be enough for murder.

They had video of the murder on day one. That's sufficient grounds to arrest someone. A citizen can be arrested and held while the "technical issues" are worked out. It happens all the time.

It doesn't take four days. The victim didn't get four days, did he?

Is that the legal procedure when there is video evidence of murder? Crossing t's and dotting lower case j's while a suspected murderer walks around free?

Please......

The other three cops should have arrested him right there and then.

They can be charged as accessories.

Media justice is the only answer.

I hope he rots in jail.

I don't know what is necessary for them to be convicted as accessories but they should at the least be charged and face a trial for it. Regardless of the outcome of said trial, they should never be allowed on a police force given that someone died due to their negligence.

Not at all. Gathering evidence takes time. Statements from the other officers. Statements from bystanders. Deciding the proper charges that can be proved in a court of law.

I'm not going to hand out a gold Star and adult sized candy bars for arresting someone for murder four days after unjustly taking someone's life. Being glad that the bare minimum being accomplished only leads to more Derek Chauvins murdering unarmed black people.

They also needed the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Not to mention the complicating factors of the riots and looting,

It is pretty ridiculous it took this long.

4 days from beginning an investigation to charging is actually pretty fast.

What we should be pissed about is the fact that he wasn’t arrested immediately. But I’m betting the union contract has something to do with that.

Yup, off to trial and it needs to be fair. We'll see what comes of it.

Really, what an outrage. The DOJ and FBI should have been in Minnesota within an hour. No, 30 minutes. Any later is just an outrage.

George Floyd was murdered in the middle of the street in broad daylight. What more evidence than you need than that to throw cuffs on him? You're being obtuse just for the sake of defending cops. Surely in a pandemic, you'd try to lick fewer boots.

The police union isn't even standing up for this POS, that says a lot.

Good to see he is in custody. He will be convicted.
