At 12 a.m. Thursday, President Trump retweeted a video in which a supporter says, “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.”

At 12:53 a.m. Friday, he followed this up by referring to riots in Minneapolis and saying, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts.”


This retweet hasn't been reported as much given the fact Trump then went on to quote a racist police chief from the 60's but it shouldn't be overlooked. Absolutely wild that the president of the US is engaging and encouraging in such violent rhetoric to his opposition. US is going to have a long old summer and a violent build up to the election.
 
If a Trumper murders a democrat because of the tweet, that makes Trump an accessory before the fact.

What's he trying to do? Is he deliberately trying to set the country on fire?
When armed vigilantes confront armed rioters it'll be on him and everyone in the country will have to chose a side.

It's important to note the context of the quote,"When the looting starts, the shooting starts."

"The phrase was used by Miami's police chief, Walter Headley, in 1967, when he addressed his department's "crackdown on ... slum hoodlums," according to a United Press International article from the time.
Headley, who was chief of police in Miami for 20 years, said that law enforcement was going after “young hoodlums, from 15 to 21, who have taken advantage of the civil rights campaign. ... We don't mind being accused of police brutality."
Miami hadn't faced "racial disturbances and looting," Headley added, because he let word filter down that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts."

Where does the phrase '''When the looting starts, the shooting starts''' come from?

I see no encouragement by the president to incite violence. Just the opposite, in fact.
People who loot, people who are burning down businesses and police stations and put everyone else at risk are what to you? Good people who have been hurt by society?

He was widely condemned by every civil rights group at the time. Not just for those quotes either but also his stop and frisk tactics, heavy handed policing and his use of dog patrols in all black neighborhoods.

He said "The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat. I don't mean that in a physical sense, no I don't want you go to murder Democrats. I say that in a political sense."

Since that totally changes the meaning and 100% contradicts the rant, the lie has to be perpetuated. He says "don't murder Democrats" and ALL of Democrat MSM and probably nearly all progressives on this forum will lie, claiming he said to murder Democrats when he said do NOT murder Democrats.

Republicans should incessantly do that on this forum too. Erase "not" or add "not" to what any Democrat says and then furiously rant about it.

What Trump says and does is getting and will only get worse. That is His pathology. He can't help himself. Every step further Trump has taken over the line, He has pretty much gotten away with. That tells Trump He can get away with the next step that is another step over the line. That is Trump. Give him an inch, he'll take another, and another, and another...

Ok, duly noted, but imo, the quote is not racist in the least if you remember the context, as to why he said it.
Without proper context, the context comes off as totally racist.

I'm giving Trump no passes for retweeting some NM politician's video. He was wrong to do so, and because people won't bother to find out the meaning of the quote you shared, he was wrong to repeat it without giving context.

Very disappointed with his tweets but also disappointed that Twitter labeled it as "glofifying violence".
None of this helping MN. get back to normal.

Trump showed poor judgment when retweeting the video, especially in light of the fact that none of this helps calm the seas, especially during an election year.

Do you think he'll be able to find a second black person who he thinks is "articulate and bright and clean?"
 
I agree that looters and arsonists should be shot. One reason is because if it was known that looters and arsonists would be shot and there was an armed presence of who will shoot looters and arsonists, there would be no looting and no arson.

This is REALLY easy to figure out.

It is sad to see the police refusing to protect the families, children and services they need for their daily lives in that poorer part of town.

Without out a doubt, if the looters and arsonists mob moved to the rich part of town where the mayor lives, the police would actually act to protect the community. This is the mayor saying she doesn't give a damn about poor people in her city, nothing else.

Yeah, right. When said "If they bring a knife we'll bring a gun" in a political context, all the Democrats on this forum and in the MSN ranted the quote "we'll bring a gun!" accusing the Obama administration of telling supporters to bring guns to all political events, right?
