Yes, just as a newspaper or magazine is. BTW, this site does not "fact check" user content. I agree that it would be an impossible burden to "fact check" all user content so why pretend to do so knowing that it will be very selective?

But best explain to us exactly where Twitter's rulebook says the site cannot post a fact check or counter commentary.

They're not actually. Online newspapers and magazines allow user generated content, such as comments to articles. Almost all of them moderate those comment sections or they end up resembling a sewer of crap and ads and profanity laced garbage. That does not make them liable for all user generated content.

They ARE liable for content they create and publish.

Bottom line is if you enjoy DP, and being able to post comments anywhere online, then you don't want 230 protection to be gutted. It is what allows DP to exist.

On a previous post I defamed Trump - said he was a convicted pedophile. He's not, but I claimed he was, and you'd impose an affirmative duty on DP to see that post and delete it, because they moderate this place, and aren't neutral (because they ban obvious racists and trolls). So you'd make DP, and its owners, and perhaps the moderators, legally responsible for my defamatory comment and subject to a lawsuit by Trump, and damages. It could bankrupt them, easily, if Trump wanted that. Just drag them into court for a few years.

You say you want that, but I don't think you've thought it through. 230 allows DP to exist, allows everywhere you can comment to exist.

Twitter now selectively decides to place a warning label on certain tweets in a manner that clearly reflects political bias. As has been reported, Twitter seems never to have placed such a label on another politician's tweet. As recently as last week, Representative Adam Schiff was continuing to mislead his followers by peddling the long-disproved Russian Collusion Hoax, and Twitter did not flag those tweets. Unsurprisingly, its officer in charge of so-called "Site Integrity" has flaunted his political bias in his own tweets.
