4 Minneapolis officers fired after arrest of man who later died

They know what they are doing, or should, ignoring the victims words, those if the bystanders, not lettyup when EMS shows up, and his hand in his pocket all show intent, whether it was to show power or not they know what it can result in, Death.

Don't give spit what you believe, haven't you figured that out yet?

I'm not defending the cops. They ****ed up royally. Their crime is manslaughter and accessory, not murder.

"Depraved heart" requires intent, too.
No, it very specifically does not.

609.195 MURDER IN THE THIRD DEGREE.

(a) Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years.

It absolutely does:

Your source:...perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life.

Intent to knowingly commit an act that can cause death would have to be established. i.e. using deadly force. Examples of deadly force are shooting someone, stabbing someone, running over someone, striking someone in the head with a weapon of some sort. This is another case of: good luck proving the cop knew he was committing a deadly act, using deadly force.

Umm... have you seen the video?

Are you really going to argue that the cop didn't know that choking someone for 7 minutes while they beg for relief could lead to death?

Murder would mean there was premeditation. Good luck proving that.

I don't care you're friends with. That's like saying you aren't a racist because you have a black friend. You're still applying an unconstitutional double standard.

Good lord. Unless the police have some mitigating information this appears to be manslaughter. I say that freely admitting I'm not a lawyer so of course I don't know but..............

Who would have thought just a handful of years ago that everyone would one day have a video recorder in their pocket?
Two thoughts- cops on city streets will never get away with this crap again, and how much of this crap happened before cell phones?

You can't prosecute someone for what you think they should know.

First degree murder needs premeditation. Second degree can happen in the heat of the moment.
But you know this. You're just doing what you always do.

I'm not defending the cops. They ****ed up royally. Their crime is manslaughter and accessory, not murder.

Oh, so now it is levels, ok, Second Degree for the kneeler, assessories for the rest.
We shall see, done with this discussion.

Yes, you absolutely can.

If I pointed a gun at you, and pulled the trigger, I could not defend myself from murder charges by claiming that I didn't know the gun would fire.

I've already said the cop ****ed up. You should read the thread.

They are trained and in that they warned of the results.

Well, the MPD training program will have to be examined to determine that.

Nice reach.

I guess it wasn't entirely racist, was it.

It was for the cop kneeling on the guys neck. Did you notice he had one hand in his pocket because he was so scared of what the guy under his knee might do? So let's call it one hundred percent racist on his part and one hundred percent protecting my fellow cops even though I know what he's doing is wrong.

You didn't answer my question.

The cop didn't use a gun. Don't go moving the ****ing goalposts...lol.

If he had used a gun, I would agree.

Anyone still unsure why Kapernick took the knee? Anyone doubt why so many hated him for it? Anyone unsure why a protest by BLM results in riot gear and tear gas while another protest with armed white men is allowed even in a state capitol building? Anyone here still think we are free of institutional racism? Really?

The cop didn't use a gun. Don't go moving the ****ing goalposts...lol.

If I stood on your neck for 7 minutes while you begged for breath - I still could not defend myself against murder charges by claiming that I did not know standing on your neck might kill you.

You didn't answer my question.

He wasn't choking Floyd. Floyd was able to talk, hence he was able to breathe. Someone who is choking can't breathe at all.

The cops ****ed up and deserve to go down, but don't lie about what they did. Doing so cheapens George Floyd's death.

Why isn't the killer in jail?

If I stood on your neck for 7 minutes while you begged for breath - I still could not defend myself against murder charges by claiming that I did not know standing on your neck might kill you.

If I'm talking, that means I'm breathing, so I'll probably be ok as far as oxygen intake goes. At my age, there's the possibility of other causes of death.

He wasn't standing on his neck. Like I said, don't lie about what happened.

Of course he was choking Floyd. The fact that he was able to get some limited (but clearly not enough) air does not change that fact.

If you agree the cops should go down, why are you so invested in defending them in this thread from murder charges?

Are you now trying to argue that maybe he just died on his own, entirely unrelated to the choking?
