4 Minneapolis officers fired after arrest of man who later died

Kneeling on the man's carotid artery is a sure road to brain death.....f*cking idiots.

First - what the officers did was horrendous, and a clear violation of the man's civil rights. They likely broke many policies - which is why the department made a civil rights referral and fired the everyone involved.

However, I don't think the pressure on the man's neck killed him, are was in the right spot to cut off the flow of blood through the carotid artery. He certainly wasn't being strangled. This looked like a pretty classic presentation of a heart attack and cardiac arrest brought on by stress.

This doesn't excuse the officers at all. In fact, if this is the case, the officers could have likely saved the man by stopping, calling for help, and giving first aid.

You can hear the mans voicebox literally being squished and his voice box rattling as hes screaming out for help.... Have you ever had your voice box squished? Make an eagle claw with 3 fingers and squeeze your esophagous. It hurts extremely bad with only about 3% pressure. The cop was specifically angling his knee so that it squeezes his voice box even more using the guys neck bone as a lever....

The one officer with his knee on top of the guy's neck is an idiot for certain.

But what the hell is it with the other 3 cops standing there playing pocket pool. If you saw your co-worker likely to extinguish a perp and probably extinguish his career wouldn't you say something like "Hey Ralph can we put him in a better position to breathe"?

They need to give that cop life in prison or death penalty as soon as possible.

Full on violent riots are comming if they dont.

what the police did is not surprising.

And they would have gotten away with it if it weren't for some bystander recording the event.

Now I wonder if the DA will pull a Rodney King ie, charge all the officers with 1st degree murder, get a change of venue and hold the trial in an all-white town with lots of cops relatives to sit on the jury, then find one black lawyer in the DA's office to prosecute.

The cops will walk.

I dont see how, they obviously killed him while calmly pretending that they were not.

Beyond disturbing.

That could be irrelevant to the jury if the DA plays his cards right.

The DA in all cases like this has inherent conflict of interest. The DA on a daily basis depends on the cops to make his cases for him. If the cops (thin blue line) don't think the DA has their back, he'll be lucky to get another conviction. Critical evidence will go missing, cops will lose their memories, they will neglect to follow up on important clues and witnesses, etc. In short, the DA has to bend over backwards to get these cops the best possible deal. If he doesn't, he's screwed.

The casual way with which it was done is stunning. The officer kneeling on him has one hand in his pocket and the other cop never even looks down at the guy to see if he's alright.

I was thinking the same thing.

He didn't seem to have a care in the world what he was doing to the guy.

If the two of us got into a violent altercation and I grabbed you by the back of the neck and dunked your head beneath a stream of water and held it there until you died, I would almost certainly be charged with murder, even if I did not plan to do so initially. Stepping on a man's neck is no different than holding a man's head underwater or choking him with a garrote wire. It is cutting off the oxygen supply to his brain.

Umm, you don't have to answer but this seems very well thought out...have you done this before?

Completely agree.

Disagree. At least I sure as Hell hope not.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

I guess that you paid no mind to the Asian cop who was standing a few feet away allowing it to go on?
The Asian-American cop was the subject of a lawsuit which was settled out of court after he punched a citizen who had been arrested and handcuffed on an outstanding warrant.

This incident just continues to reinforce by belief that cops in America today are just stupid or corrupt--- probably both. Clearly the man was in medical distress for a long period of time. What I don't understand is why 3 other cops would stand by and DO NOTHING to prevent what was happening. Again, back to STUPID and/or CORRUPT. Stupid because do they no know how quickly cutting off someone's breathing can kill--- or at the very least cause brain damage.

This makes me very angry, but I'd like to point out that in a situation like this it would have been perfectly justifiable and MORAL for anyone to attempt to intervene on behalf of the man being chocked, including using LETHAL FORCE against the police to stop this unjustified killing.

Yes, because out of the thousands of cops, these guys represent them all.

We don't have the death penalty in Minnesota. Which given our police state, that's probably good.

He was fired as well. Take your race baiting bull**** back to Stormfront.

I noticed him protecting his partner making sure nobody stepped in to stop the killing. And that asian cop would pass for white sooner than he would pass for black.

Standard tactic. Deliberately inflict pain while arresting someone, they struggle because that's how the **** human beings react to pain, then they are "resisting" so you now have full authority to beat the **** out of them. Or murder them, as is the case this time. This has always been a problem, we're just more aware of it now because everyone has a video camera in their pocket.

It should be nationwide law that cops wear bodycam and give them no ability to turn it off. You're on duty? You're on camera. Maybe over the next couple decades that will start to reign in the fascist thugs that have infiltrated our nations' police forces.

I don't even know if body cams will do anything. How many times have we seen on camera cops murder someone and jack **** happen? They need to be severely punished. When it comes to paying out money to victims, it needs to come from the cops directly. Then they may stop with their bloodthirsty behavior.

Everyone knows if you hate black people, then you also have to hate Asian people.

It's like when you call a Karen a racist, and she says 'what? I offer coffee with my Latino cleaning lady twice a month!'
