Central Park Confrontation Goes Viral, as White Woman Calls Cops on Black Man Over Dog Leash

Man, that woman seems twisted. Maybe send her off to Bellevue.

Get a load of her "apology" (OP link):

The video of the incident had more than 25 million views on Twitter as of late Tuesday morning. Speaking exclusively to NBC New York on Monday, Amy says she overreacted but she claimed that Christian was screaming, and that she felt threatened because she didn't know what was in the dog treats.

"I sincerely and humbly apologize to everyone, especially to that man, his family," she said in a phone call. "It was unacceptable and I humbly and fully apologize to everyone who’s seen that video, everyone that’s been offended…everyone who thinks of me in a lower light and I understand why they do. When I think about the police, I’m such a blessed person. I’ve come to realize especially today that I think of [the police] as a protection agency, and unfortunately, this has caused me to realize that there are so many people in this country that don’t have that luxury," she continued.

Casting blame at him, claiming she "felt threatened" by dog treats (what, he was going to force her to eat a poisoned dog treat or something? And consider just how close that kind of statement is to a police justification for a shooting - "saw a shiny object," "we didn't know if he had a gun," etc), a rote recitation of statements she thinks sound "woke".......she isn't sorry that she did it. She's just sorry she got caught.

I wonder how many people she might have ****ed over with similar lies? I suspect journalists will be a'digging.

Our society cannot help but act foolish and ridiculous.

It will take a bit for the dust to settle from this one, I do not feel sorry for this Amy Cooper who is now apologizing for all this.

I just hope she learned something.

Amy Cooper: White woman has been fired after calling police on a black man in Central Park - CNN

I’ve seen stuff that says she’s Canadian, so maybe she’ll get deported.

You know how we have a very strict policy on immigration these days- this is the kind of immigrant crime and mayhem Trump and Stephen Miller Warner is about!

If you have your damn dog on a leash, you don’t have to worry about it eating unauthorized dog treats, Karen.

Either you do not understand what the word "could" means, or you are lying about what I said.

It didn't happen. But it could have happened. And it does quite regularly happen in 'Merka.

She's vile. And we didn't even get to her pointlessly choking her dog.
I see... so you were just making up a scenario that had absolutely nothing to do with anything. Let us know when you get back and want to discuss what actually happened...

Transition-to-NOM-1650.jpg

What if she pulled out a gun and shot the dog and blamed it on the guy? What if she picked up a rock and hit herself over the head with it and told police that the black man did it?

Again, the story speaks for itself without you people having to fabricate things. That helps no one.

When Karens collide.

Or maybe we can just return her to that bastion of liberalism and fake "inclusion": Canada.

Well, she seems to like the police, I guess...

Dumbass person. She should get cited for making a false report and for animal cruelty. And if the fashion police get a hold of her for those jeggings, she's a goner.

Ah...THAT explains it—she’s CANADIAN! Build a wall! And, make Canada pay for it!!!

That guy hit peak Karen when he decided to video someone with an unleashed dog. Get a life. These two liberals are made for each other. If I'm out with my dog and some Karen starts videoing me and then says "I'm going to do something you won't like" in reference to my dog, said Karen is going down.

Good job. You made sure not to mention the racism. Recognizing its existence does screw up a narrative or two of yours over the years. So you go with "dumbass" instead.

I'm very glad she's returned the doggie to the shelter. If she's cited for making a false report, tough noogies for her.

This HuffPo article makes a good point:

Cooper seems like a fairly average person. It's very likely that she doesn't consider herself racist. It's very likely that she doesn't consider race much at all, because she doesn't have to. Perhaps she has one or two Black friends and works with Black employees and feels good about her interactions and relationships with them. Perhaps she likes singing Beyonce songs at karaoke.

And yet, when asked by Christian Cooper to follow the rules, it's telling that her reaction was indignant, angry and then passively violent. She understood completely the implications of calling the cops on a Black man. She understood that her faux-breathless screaming and tears could elicit a very specific, historic, racialized response. And that is why she did it, why she felt comfortable saying all the things she said, with a camera trained on her.

Wow. Just couldn't admit the white person was the worse offender, could you?

I agree. I have no doubt she knew what she was doing and her actions absolutely were racist...race based. For the life of me I dont get people. That being said, I stick with the things they can act on, and they absolutely can and should act on the false report allegation. And I hope it hurts.

I dont buy off on the whole apology thing. Apologies work for someone that gets so overwhelmed and overworked and something bad slips out. That...that came out mighty naturally. Its not unlike the NASCAR driver a few weeks ago. Yeah...sure...you can apologize, but that wasnt exactly hiding down deep under there.

OOoooo e-tough guy entering the room. Everyone stand back.

Classic.

“I’m ok with the racism, but the animal cruelty is a big issue”.

She's now lost her job over it apparently.

Christian Cooper captured part of the exchange in a now-viral video that was posted to Twitter by his sister. The woman, later identified as Amy Cooper, is shown on video asking Cooper to stop recording her, or she was going to call the cops and tell them "there's an African American man threatening my life." She repeated the statement several times, each time sounding more distressed, while appearing to call 911 dispatch.

Use of a "Karen" meme more than a little forgiving. If she'd actually reported that he was threatening her life, she could have gotten him killed.* He's black and phones often turn out to be a "shiny object" that a scared cop thought "might have been a gun." Oopsie-daisy, another dead black guy; officer just doing his job. You know the drill.

If her life is ruined, it's her own damn fault. Dogs do need to be leashed there, and she was threatening to make a call that really could have gotten the guy killed. His best case scenario if she had actually reported that? Getting hauled off to jail, likely after getting roughed up, and only released later if the recording survived.

* Hell, there's another thread on how sitting in a car while police suspected a black man of a "forgery in progress" got the man killed - they kneeled on his neck until he died.

It's fascinating how these situations can go sideways really quick. It was really poor form to have exaggerated the threat level because that could have really bad for the man recording it. If police get a call with a woman stating she's being threatened by a man, they're likely to be more on alert and assume there's a potential threat to them as well.

She's now lost her job over it apparently.

And since she's Canadian, she may get deported.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

What if he stole a chainsaw from a construction site and he was gonna start chopping people up?

It worked for Schiff so why should it work any different for one of the users on this forum?

I understand her fear of her dog being attacked - unfortunately for her, her liberal racism popped out. The guy, however, is just a Karen who chooses to be Karen. The worst kind of Karen.

He's there to bird watch. Did you watch the video? He was commenting on the damage that the dogs off-leash can do. And disrupt the quiet. The damage of the underbrush in a heavily used park doesnt come back quickly. Sometimes not ever. She's breaking the law and interfering with the enjoyment of the park that he's entitled to.

He did ask her first.
