Central Park Confrontation Goes Viral, as White Woman Calls Cops on Black Man Over Dog Leash

A white woman called the NYPD and accused a black man of threatening her and her dog after an exchange that started when the man asked the woman to leash her dog in Central Park.

Christian Cooper captured part of the exchange in a now-viral video that was posted to Twitter by his sister. The woman, later identified as Amy Cooper, is shown on video asking Cooper to stop recording her, or she was going to call the cops and tell them "there's an African American man threatening my life." She repeated the statement several times, each time sounding more distressed, while appearing to call 911 dispatch.

Meanwhile, Christian didn't appear to move any closer to Amy. He tells NBC New York that he's an avid bird watcher who was in The Ramble, a popular spot in the park for birders, around 8 a.m. Monday morning. He says he only asked Amy to put her dog on the leash in the area where it's required to have your dog on a leash at all times.

I didnt see any other threads on the “Central Park Karen” here... its quite a bizarre story.

She basically was walking her dog off leash, and a guy told her to put it on a leash. She got upset. There may be more, but the guy filming seems to be pretty calm compared to Karen.

Looks like she now is saying her “life is ruined” by this incident, and she apparently was fired from her investment banking job.

I’m guessing her original intent was to ruin this guys life by calling the cops (why the emphasis on African-American if not?) so she kinda got what she deserved. If you think this is totally crazy, just watch the video that came out of Minneapolis where the cops literally murdered a nonviolent guy in handcuffs.

Use of a "Karen" meme more than a little forgiving. If she'd actually reported that he was threatening her life, she could have gotten him killed.* He's black and phones often turn out to be a "shiny object" that a scared cop thought "might have been a gun." Oopsie-daisy, another dead black guy; officer just doing his job. You know the drill.

If her life is ruined, it's her own damn fault. Dogs do need to be leashed there, and she was threatening to make a call that really could have gotten the guy killed. His best case scenario if she had actually reported that? Getting hauled off to jail, likely after getting roughed up, and only released later if the recording survived.

* Hell, there's another thread on how sitting in a car while police suspected a black man of a "forgery in progress" got the man killed - they kneeled on his neck until he died.

I think the proper SOP is to shoot them and then claim you saw them trespassing somewhere.

Please, lets stick with the facts. Lies help no one. She did "actually report that." The police did arrive. The man was not hauled off to jail. The police chalked it up to a verbal dispute and left - without seeing the video.

Damn, it's a good thing you're not a cop.

She looks and sounds like a sick person.

Reading more into her it appears her dog had a couple of questionable "accidents" and watching the video of her choking the dog and lying to 911 about that man is disturbing.

Why the lying?

The police showed up but no one was there.

Stick with facts, indeed.

Yeah- her choking the dog like that was weird. I mean- she had a leash- why hold it in the air by the collar?

Why do liberals think every time there is confrontation between a white person and a black person is a racial issue.
Liberals simply like to divide the country.
You have a women being confronted by a male. Bad women for calling the police and describing the individual as black male.
Would it be racist if the women was black and the man white? In that case the narrative would be racism against the man.

If the guy was jogging, stopped to ask she leash her dog, the said interaction occurred, he then continued on his jog (ran away) the cops arrived and she pointed at him running further down the path and said he'd threatened her life...Like as if nothing like subsequent police violence could ever possibly occur...

Note that even the news reporter mischaracterized the interaction as a "squabble".

Yeah, she apologized but she also said "words are just words,' but those words could have gotten him killed. And he knew it, he referred to the Arbery case in GA.

Cool video, he's right about dogs off-leash and esp. in the Ramble. I used to be a park ranger in CP and lead bird walks and the Ramble, one of the most densely wooded areas in the park, is one of the best spots. It's also an area that can be very isolating and it used to be a huge meeting spot for gays. Used to lead nature walks in there for schools and families and you never knew what you were going to come across in there...all trees, winding paths, and giant Manhattan schist boulders.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

Really?

Ya don’t see it?

At all?

Woman who is having a dispute threatens to call cops. But SPECIFICALLY threatens to describe guy as ‘African American’. Why?

She specifically outlined that phrase as a threat.

Why not ‘guy with birding binoculars’? Or ‘guy with green shirt’? Or even ‘black guy with binoculars’ if she wanted to call in a descriptor?

Everyone involved knew what she was doing, and her employer fired her for racist behavior.

What does it say about you if you can’t see this?

Doesn't the story stand on its own without making up "what-if" scenarios?

Either you do not understand what the word "could" means, or you are lying about what I said.

It didn't happen. But it could have happened. And it does quite regularly happen in 'Merka.

She's vile. And we didn't even get to her pointlessly choking her dog.

Wow.

You’re sure an ignorable poster.
And you're one that continually lies. Good God, the story is bad enough on its own without you having to make **** up.

:boohoo:

White wingers are going to keep getting put in their place until they learn how to behave in public.

What is the point of you being in this thread? You're clearly just responding to people based on their lean. If it's a certain lean, you accuse them of "lying"....even as you lie about what they posted yourself.

Man, that woman seems twisted. Maybe send her off to Bellevue.
