World of Warcraft release revives concern over games addiction

What do you like about Warhammer? I played it since beta. I find i quite redundant. Every Chapter is exactly the same thing.

Love it, the set up, the graphics, the struggle between Order and Destruction...

There is a World of Warcraft TCG (trading card game), but what you saw was probably a more popular TCG: if they were teens, I'd bet it's Magic: the Gathering (my only gaming addiction).

Magic the Gathering FTW. I have like 8,000 cards

I sold out of that a long time ago.

I was big on black/green discard decks.

My wife made a turny-legal 40 card all red deck that got it's first kill on turn 4, and averaged 8 kills in 10 turns. It was mostly direct damage, urza land, moxes and sacrificial goblins, with the occasional enchant which doubled her mana pool. She would only ever target the player with her spells, never a creature, regardless.

The deck was highly vulnerable to everything imaginable. Land destruction, creature attacks, lock downs...you name it.

Her strategy for countering these threats was to kill her opponent before those cards could be played....a strategy I still respect ;)

When I'm giving spec or gear advice in WoW, and the player is worried about his dps'er needing more protection over offensive buffs, I kindly remind them that it can't hurt you if it's dead ;)

PVP sucks period. Hate and will always hate it... it brings out the worst in people.. have enough bullies and idiots to deal with in real life, and then also have to deal with it in a virtual world.. no thanks.

Hehe, I know everyone will hate me after this but I don't play WoW..............I play EvE Online.

This is a signature that sums of EvE but also alot of PvP. To win, someone has to lose. And being on the losing side is never fun. The difference between winners and losers is that winners have learned from their mistakes after losing a great many times and not given up.

Anyone know an add-on to allow me to write a macro greater than the 255 character limit?

How was it tourney legal with Mox's and Urza lands? o_O unless you're talking eons ago, when MT:G was fun and interesting and they hadn't started going "Know all your old cards, they're no good anymore"

-.-

No clue on your addon thing. I'm just now starting to learn the wonders of Add-ons since my friends back home have got me on the damn game again. Good way to keep in touch and do something with a group of friends 5 hours away.

It's like being able to press a button and *poof* your gram of cocaine is now a 1/2lb bag of hash. Tired of hash? Press the button again and *poof* you're back to cocaine.

Sweet

Great analogy between WoW and crack. :)

Does anyone use macros?

Have any code you'd like to share?

I have a few the really help my hunter and shammy but I won't bore folks if no one's into using macros.

I use macros, only way to play.

Look to Rexxar if you plan on raiding. There's a great selection of guilds whether you're rolling horde or alliance.

A few of my toons:

Riiker - 80 Human Rogue

Zandiir - 74 Dorf Priest

Abraxiis - 32 Night Elf Druid

Naxx on farm, OS on farm w/1 dragon down. Malygos downed (I missed it).

Uldaur on deck.

She sold her butthole for an upgrade in a video game.

That.

Is.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Just...wow. Wow

(no pun intended)

WoW delivers. If you've never played, give it a go, you can trial it for 10 days for free.

The 5k mount "bartering" is not uncommon, just part of the WoW drama, er, experience...lol

That thing about the epic mount has been out for quite some time, and I'm pretty sure it was a joke. Though I wouldn't be surprised if some people had whored themselves out for something in game.

My best friend roped me back into it for the first time in about 3 years back in February. I've got a level 70 Orc Shaman now on Sentinels.

For the mother****ing horde.

I used to buy food with MtG cards.

I was good at the game, won tournaments, had cards which a friend at TacoBell wanted....mmmmm TacoBell.....

People can get addicted to anything. I am 22 and play wow, but I also am in college so I have to balance my time. The reason people play wow a lot is because it's a time consuming game. It's competitive, it has a real economy in it and that in and of itself can be engrossing. Not to mention raiding. These raids can take up to 2-4 hours. Of course most guilds (groups of players that play together) are understanding if you have to hit the sack or go do something, but some are not. Some people expect you to be on at a certain time to get certain things accomplished in the game. If you are not on, these things cannot be done. So a lot of the time it's frustrating when people that you are counting on don't show up. People don't want to be kicked out of their "group" because they might have played this game for 2 years with these people, talking, gotten to know them etc. They don't want to just screw them over and not show up, it's rude. So i can see why certain people can really get into it. The fact is, WoW is not just some "nintendo , singleplayer videogame" that you can just shut off. ( i mean you could, but the effects can be damaging to friends/other players who were totally counting on you.) That's why people play so much, etc. In my experience at least.

I played Dark Age of Camelot for quite a long time. Had multiple 50's on various servers. It just got so boring after a while. If you weren't grinding you were out in the Frontiers getting zerged. TOA ruined big boy PVP. The BG's were the funnest part of the game. At least then it seemed somewhat balanced and challenging. My experience with DAOC is the primary reason I'm hesitant to join another MMORPG like WoW.

I am however just a tad curious about Warhammer. Anyone have any experience there? I thought Rivrrat did, can't remember.

I like to play Modhammer. :2razz:
