The good news is the more they play, the less chance they have at reproducing :rofl
I used to think addiction to soap operas was bad, but for the most part it only affected stay at home moms....back in my day, of course.
Games are worse....
It must be that I have an almost complete immunity to addictive substances and activities. The only thing that I just had to have is sex, and now that I am getting old, even that aspect of my life is losing its control over me.
Not long ago I saw a 30 year old married man (no kids) throw a hissy fit when he was told by his parents to disconnect his game so the rest of the family and their guests could watch the superbowl...
I really don't understand being addicted to games...
For some, it actually is a positive. In one game I played, I had a friend who was an 83 year old women being treated for cancer. She used the immersion into an MMO to take her mind off the pain and sickness from what she was going through. I admit this is a rare thing, but it is one of my favorite stories from MMO's.
when you get to that age, anything goes !!!
IMO the problem is the youth who spend too much time on games, and not enough time preparing to support themselves...
I don't think younger kids(under 18) should play MMO's or any online game(or any online activity really) without parental supervision. However, I know people who do WoW and others as family activities, and that does work well. A married couple I was online friends with had the most charming 11 year old son who played online with them sometimes. He learned typing skills and how to find information on the internet through his interest in games.
Family guilds are quite common on my server. It's a real bitch for non-family/family-friend to get in one, and if you do, you had better mind your manners and stay out of the social drama.
If you're family/family-friend, though, you can get away with anything.

I prefer family guilds actually. I fit in much better in those type guilds.
I didn't realize we had this many resident WoW lovers.
I haven't played since January of this year but I miss it sometimes. Pretty cool game. We were doing Naxx about then and some drama broke out among the top members and I've got better things to do, so I stopped playing.
I think my wife would literally kill me if I installed that game and kicked out the 15 per month. I don't even mention that game in this house. Forbidden.

I actually very much attribute my typing skills to my years of playing on MUDs. I've got about a 90 WPM typing speed (which is good cause I'm so damn wordy) that was pretty much honed through playing so much of a game that was all text based.
Not sure how it'd translate over to WOW where you only really type when you want to talk
I learned raiding before there was voice chat. I raided hardcore in Everquest, playing a warrior who MTed many raids. What typing ability I have comes from typing out messages while desperately trying to keep a mob in position. I certainly cannot type 90 WPM, but I can hit 30 to 40, whereas I was maybe 10ish when I started playing EQ and had to type out each letter individually with two fingers.
