Do you have examples of his independence and non-partisan actions?

Trump fired him, so that's a good indicator he isn't a criminal.

Either that or he's really competent. Trump hates that

You mean like Vindman, amirite?

Since you brought it up, Vindman was an honored officer whose only "crime" was reporting, through proper channels, what he observed. But since it put Trump in bad light, it's a Trump crime.

The release destroyed any claimed integrity. It's very much similar to the actions of thr relieved carrier commander. His problem was not the truth of his situation, but the manner in which he chose to address it. And to put whipped cream and a cherry on top, the SecNav then did the same damn thing. He was correct in relieving the Captain of his command, but went so far over the top in expressing it that his judgement is suspect as well.

That's a nice non sequitur. What does it have to do with the fact that Trump has a long history of scamming and stealing from children with cancer, charity, etc.? Or that some people support giving him an opportunity to scam even more money?

I would bet you're an Evangelical or Fundamental Christian. Am I right?

No that was not his only crime. You're making my point though, so I thank you for that.

He is being dubbed as honorable for acting in malice. Theres no reason to believe this other guy isnt the same type of ideologue.

Oh, what crime was he convicted of, again?

Are you incapable of understanding context or this a cheap attempt to create a scarecrow argument that you will now follow up with a false declaration of victory?

First, the money hasn't been dispensed yet.
Second, what do you think the motive was for firing the independent watchdog of whose job it was to oversee how these monies are to be spent?

Yes, no money yet, which is why I mentioned to those who were cring about corruption there isn't any corruption. Actually, Mr. Fine is just one of a grpup of IG's with oversight responsibilities, so the notion that there's no one watching is false. I expect that Trump will make his motive and justification clear to congress, as he's required to do.

For those of you who already know, it's fairly amazing how often what you claim to know is wrong.

So what? Trump is entitled to officers in his department with whom he is comfortable.
Same as any other president.

Yeah, he's only 'comfortable' with sycophants, unlike other presidents.

Trying to stop funds being misspent in a pork-laden $2.2 trillion flood of stimulus money is like trying to hold back the ocean with a thimble.

I suspect everyone is going to get a taste. Make that a cup filled to overflowing. Because we have infinite money - when it runs out we just print more!

That's actually an accurate assessment.

Printing money, done right, goes pretty much unnoticed, but on the scale that's about to happen?

We'll just have to see. I do agree with conservatives on the issue of printing money, that you can't create value out of thin air, it has to, ultimately, be produced/paid for, somewhere, somehow, collectively.

QE, off hand, given the above fact, seems that when it occurs, prices will rise to pay for the recipients who benefited. However, during the 2000s it was done three times, I believe, and hardly any inflation ( beyond the normal 2% ) occurred. I think that what happens is that in a slumping economy, what it does prop up prices to prevent deflation.

It is an actual inflation, technically speaking, it just doesn't seem like it.

Yes. If your anti-Trump diatribe bears any fruit, then, yes, I will give a damn.
But where is your evidence that will happen?
Is Trump already guilty of that? Or are you just hoping that is another thing you can blame him for?

I'll blame Trump on precisely what he deserves to be blamed for.

Speaking of fruit, the thing is, there is an old adage, and I think it holds true with this president, which is:

"A poisoned tree yields poisoned fruit".

And there won't be any fruit from such a tree that doesn't contain poison.

Now, that tree might yield a lot of fruit, so when you hear a bunch of people hootin' and a hollerin' about the poison fruit, don'tcha go makin' stuff up like they were imagining things, and were only out to get the tree chopped down. It's not like it would save people from getting poisoned if they did manage to get it chopped down. Y'hear?

So, the above premise rises or falls on the veracity of the tree being a poisoned tree.

So, to find the answer to that, all we have to do is look at Trump's history.

Historically speaking, what has been the motivation of Trump in his firings of people?

Were the firings in the best interest of nation?

Or, were the firings in the best interest of Trump?

Is the tree poisoned? That is the question. So, let's take a look

Trump, in the past, is........

The guy who schtupped a porn star, paid her $130,000 hush money, got his attorney jailed and threw him under the bus,
the guy that who was fined $2,000,000 for charity fraud,
the guy that who helped russian mobsters launder millions for decades,
the guy that was negotiating to build a hotel in Moscow, and told the American public he had nothing going on in Russia,
the guy who admitted on Howard Stern that he likes to barge in while teens are dressing to "inspect" them during pageants,
the guy who dissed a war hero because he likes people 'who weren't captured',
the guy that brags about grabbing women's genitals because, as a celebrity, he can get away with it,
the guy that settled $25,000,000 in a class action lawsuit for screwing thousands out of millions for a fake university,
the guy who said some mexicans, he presumes, 'are good people',
the guy who said, as president 'I take no responsibility',
they guy who said 'there was blood coming out of her eyes, there was blood coming out of her...wherever'
the guy who said 'it doesn't really matter what they write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass.
the guy who said 'if she weren't my daughter, I'd be dating her'
the guy who said asked Russia, on TV, to commit cyber espionage on a candidate,
the guy who has 22 women accusing him of sexual misconduct, some acts of which he bragged about,
the guy that was sued over 100 times for not paying contractors,
the guy that once tried to use eminent domain to screw a widow out of her home so he could build a limo garage,
the guy that screwed over the good townspeople of Aberdeenshire Scotland so that he could build a golf course there (see the film "You've Been Trumped").

I'd say the tree is 100% pure poison.

Therefore.....

Note that that could still not be enough for a conviction in a court of law, but we are not in a court of law, we are in the court of public opinion.

This is my opinion, as yours is your opinion, let's not be confused as to which court we are in,

No event associated with this money has been shown to be corrupt.

Do you believe that article 2 of the Constitution gives Trump the right to do whatever he wants? If you do, then no corruption is possible. No oversight is necessary because anything Trump chooses to do is within his authority. If he wants, he can spend the entire $2 trillion on the wall. Or, he can make sure that red states and swing states get their money first. You'd be cool with that, right? It's not like Trump owes anything to people who don't support him or his agenda.

I wonder if it could be that the vast majority of QE money just goes into the pockets of the 0.0001% and stays there. It doesn't go into general circulation so most people don't get any richer meaning there's no increased money supply to inflate.

I don't think that is how it happens. But, no doubt bankers have all kinds of sneaky **** they pull.

You forgot he scams money from children with cancer:

How Donald Trump Shifted Kids-Cancer Charity Money Into His Business - Forbes

And that's the very best representative of Conservative American values they could find. Imagine the values of the rest.

I understand Trump intends to give the entire amount to himself.

I heard he already did. That's why no checks have gone out.

My exwife received her $1200 or whatever yesterday, but it was a direct deposit - so just numbers and not even a paper check. It's all fake. Trump has the real money hidden somewhere - Marvey Largo, probably.

Is that why he pushed to have signed checks? So he could sign them over to himself!?

Apparently, reasonable voices prevailed, and direct deposit was adopted as the quicker route.

I am actually very impressed at the speed with which this money is being disbursed. I could look back at similar efforts from past administrations and the time and problems that accompanied those efforts, but not without upsetting various people needlessly, and we can't have that.

In Canada, they did it 2 days.

Well, there are only 4 people there, so...

Still, mailing things by moose is a logistical challenge that few places have mastered as completely as Canada.

True. Moose have a mind of their own. Bulwinkle did.

Just got done bushhogging. Well, not done, but finished for today, anyway. This is what happens when you fertilize in the fall, and then have an early spring. OTOH, there is plenty of grass, and normally I'd still be feeding some hay at this point, so there's that. There's an upside. So I did about 25 acres of the tallest - knee high already - and now it looks like a golf course. A very small golf course. 1/2 a hole.
