Plus he doesn't seem to understand that a dangerous pandemic doesn't replace death from other causes, it's in addition to them. Moreover, there are all sorts of restriction in liberty in terms of the design and operation of motor vehicles in the name of public safety.

If Covid-19 kills 3 percent of the people that get it, then you could easily double the number of people that would die this year. State and local governments are not shutting down their economies because they want to exert some power over the citizens, they are doing it to avoid hundreds of thousands if not millions of deaths. It's not a conspiracy.

Life is a lot more pleasant of one tries to avoid lunatic beliefs.

Speaking of which the government is letting homeless people illegally congregate and also letting criminals out of prison for fear they might get the Chinese sniffles.

So actually in the name of saving people from the virus many people will probably be murdered by released criminals or infected from homeless people

Umm, the president ordered a state of emergency, not the Democrats or 'medical fascists'.

It is no surprise that authoritarian regimes like Hungary will use a crisis to tighten their grip. China will no doubt reap some long-term benefit for the regime's intrusive surveillanvce pf its people; expect characters like Putin to use it to broaden their powers. It is an interesting question as to how far America will go.

Your political party literally believes global warming is an existential crisis. What if democrats next time one gets to become president simply declared a climate emergency and bans all gasoline private vehicles, what will you say then?

Only 2 of the 60 to whom it was exposed, 45 infected, 3 still hospitalized.

My argument is sound unless you're claiming that if 60 people from Mt. Vernon went for a drive tomorrow, 2 would be killed, 3 would be hospitalized and 45 tbd.

Everyone wants it to be over.

The difference is that some people don't really care of it's over, they just want the quarantines to stop, versus the people who don't want to lift the quarantine until the plague really has passed.

Indeed, he's ignoring the fact that we don't have enough ICU beds to accommodate the folks made critically ill from the virus. He's also either ignorant and/or non-sympathetic to the fact that healthcare workers and first responders don't get sick and die from treating flu or auto accident victims.

Orban is a thug who pals around with Hungary’s far right— the guys who are busily trying to put up statues of Nazi collaborator “Admiral” Horthy. Given his past actions there is no reason to believe he will use this special power to do anything else put solidify his efforts at taking total control of Hungary
