Trump Says He's Considering Quarantine For New York Region But Cuomo Raises Doubts

You mean DeSantis, who won't close Florida beaches, is complaining?

Yes the same guy who convinced a Florida couple with his statement, to go on their cruise. Cliffton and Dora Colberg of Florida decided to take their planned cruise despite the rising concerns of Covid-19 because on March 4th the Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis told Floridians "it's low risk and it's safe to go on that ship, don't disrupt your lives". On March 6th, Trump issued a statement that this was "all going to be under control". They felt that this was strong enough to continue with their plans and got on the ship.

so if you've been thinking about going to stay with your aunt winnie in savannah until all of this coronavirus crap clears up, you better hurry!

movie remake:

ESCAPE FROM NY SPOOF ONE JPEG.jpg

I live in South Jersey a stones throw from Phila. All liquor stores in PA are closed, but not in NJ. The liquor stores on major routes in SJ are starting to see an enormous amount of people coming to buy Liquor, wine and beer. This could become a problem

One of my best friends (and fantasy football partner) was born in Philly and grew up in South Jersey. (His mom lives in Camden.) He's a huge Eagles and Phillies fan, as are a lot of people from the other side of the river, as you undoubtedly already know. And, yeah, it's great for your businesses in the short run, but now's a good time to have a survivalist, bunker mentality. Probably going to be a baby boom in nine or ten months, since there isn't much to do except drink and screw and so many people have extra time on their hands. Do you have any idea what Phillies fans throw at the TV when they lose? I'm sure there's something. They can't even do that.

Werent you just whining the other day about how Trump wasnt being authoritarian enough. Now youare taking the opposite approach. Just goes to show that you are just a Trump hater who will oppose him no matter what he does. That makes your opinion worthless. I hope you understand that, but I doubt you do.

I was just poking around the map, and sad-to-say there's really no Gulf or Southeastern states that aren't growing, and most are getting lit-up. MS & AL may be doing the best, but if you use the Johns-Hopkins map you'll see those two states may lack the large urban explosion of some other states, but the distribution is consistent and omnipresent literally everywhere across them.

I think our chances are better here than across the border in New Orleans, but I'm still living these days with my family at home like a hermit. If we do get it, it would probably be better not to get it at the peak of the epidemic or when it's ascending, you know? Hopefully they'll have a better handle on successful treatments.

This just in: somebody 'splained to him that he can't do that. The quarantine is off.

Trump told us, gone with warm weather and Easter is fast approaching.

Ain't that the truth?

Probably already too late. I'm from another metro area, and both of my closest neighbors took-off for their out-of-state summer home/cabin over a week ago. And we're nowhere near as hot as NY (yet). I bet most New Yorkers that were going to head-out already have. But after Trump's words, I wouldn't want to be on I-95!

How are they going to enforce it. This virus is going to run its course and Trump knows it. He knew it on January 1st. The option to contain this outbreak ended when China decided to spread around the world.

Amazing! And 100% predictable. Most Democrats on this forum are ranting that everyone needs to be quarantined and have been cheering Cuomo for quarantines - even some suggesting he should be the Democrat's candidate for president because of it. But now will 100% contradict themselves as soon as Trump is considering it.

The Democratic Party is STILL screaming RACISM!!! insisting we open our borders to every country in the world - so all the sick people of the world can come here for free medical care at our expense and risks.

Won't even pretend to have intellectual integrity in your messages? Now you claim it isn't about the number of infected people who can spread covid-19, but only about rate of increase. So as soon as Hawaii has a 1 case, this is the highest rate of increase in the USA and therefore it is Hawaii should be quarantined.

Your absurd TDS messages are tiresome.

The point is to flatten the curve.

Lol. Intellectual integrity, from that poster? You can only be mad at yourself for expecting either half of that phrase, at this point.

The democratic governor of Rhode Island seems to be locking its doors to New Yorkers fleeing the state so much that Cuomo is threatening to sue her. Is the quarantine of NY now a good idea because a democrat now wants to do it?

"Trump Says He's Considering Quarantine For New York Region But Cuomo Raises Doubts."

Well, if Trump does would there be any objection?

I am not going to say if it would be good or bad, not at this point.

I am curious about how all those who have been saying his actions are just "not good enough" if they think this is a reasonable and responsible thing to do.

Especiallly when Mayor De Blasio has declared NY as the epicenter of the US outbreak.

i wish he or our gov would. we have people coming from nt and nj and LA. now our testing is spiking where it was quite low. they should have turned those planes around and not let those people here.

if they didn't have a hypocritical argument they wouldn't have any argument at all.

he use too. he used to be one of the better posters here. in fact i use to agree with some of his posts.
trump elected and like so many walked off the cliff.

their arguments more like rants and screaming at clouds are impossible to be consistent.

actually he does have authority to do it.
he very much can order the stop of all travel in and out of ny.

Oh Fletch, what I was arguing (not whining) was Trump refused to invoke the Defense Production Act (DPA) to direct companies to make needed medical supplies. That's a legal measure. Even if that was arguably "authoritarian" that doesn't open the door to sanctioning Trump to shoot looters in the streets of closing state borders.

In any case, it's moot. Trump backed off this stupid idea. One of the adults on his staff must have reigned him in.

1. And if there are any slackers make an announcement, right?

2. History has proven that when it comes to a national emergency and ensuring the public health and safety the government has done pretty much whatever it wanted to do. If it can restrict movement on a temporary basis in the leadup or aftermath of a natural disaster like a hurricane, I don't see why it couldn't during an epidemic. For example, I-10 was closed to all eastbound traffic coming from Louisiana into Mississippi hours before Hurricane Katrina hit. The government basically said, "Keep your ass out of here. Go North."

3. Yes, but they don't have it to the same degree. New York is apparently the worst, so it would be beneficial to the rest of us for them to remain in place.

All of those points are arguable. Once it's in a state, it runs wild. But the issue is moot, since Trump backed off. It obviously wasn't the good idea you are arguing.

you were supporting quarantine orders before but not so now? why is that? ol yea but trump.

in fact they were all the rave. so it isn't a stupid order. leftist prove again they can't make a consistent argument.

i 100% agree our gov. is furious that people were coming here from ny now we are seeing a spike in cases since people started fleeing down here.
