At today's White House coronavirus update Trump disclosed some very disturbing reasoning. He's inclined to make decisions based on his own personal grievances. Will he go so far as to let people die because a governor has apparently disrespected him?

Appearing at the daily White House briefing, Trump disclosed that he has told Vice President Pence, who is leading the coronavirus task force, not to call the governors of Michigan and Washington state because those governors had been critical of Trump and the federal response.
“When they’re not appreciative to me, they’re not appreciative to the Army Corps, they’re not appreciative to FEMA, it’s not right,” Trump said.
He then added: “I say, ‘Mike, don’t call the governor of Washington; you’re wasting your time with him. Don’t call the woman in Michigan. It doesn’t make any difference what happens.’ You know what I say: ‘If they don’t treat you right, I don’t call.’ ...
“All I want them to do — very simple: I want them to be appreciative,” he said. “I don’t want them to say things that aren’t true. I want them to be appreciative.”

I'm reminded of Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men. "You have to ask me nicely."

I think he’s absolutely right. If a state official is trashing the federal government why should the feds just help him
Out of his problem?

Jay Inslee spent two weeks proud of noncooperation with Pence, sending out tweets just totally trashing Pence, then as soon as he needs something he wants full assistance (which he’s getting btw) ?

I think trump should deny my state all assistance.

He always has been a petty and vindictive man, and we are now surprised he acts this way?

Actually best to have people look at the video itself:

Again WaPo and other MSM organizations are presenting a distorted and/or misrepresentation of what he actually said.

…"The governors have been very gracious for the most part. I would say there have been a couple who have not been appreciative of the incredible job. They have to do a better job themselves, that's part of the problem. Generally speaking I have to tell you that the governors have been great..."

Sounds to me like a bit of negative filtering. :coffeepap:

So you're suggesting that people should suffer, perhaps die, because two politicians are in a squabble. The president isn't really the president of all the people, only those who support him and his policies. If Trump can bring pressure to bear on the governor, even if it means the citizens will suffer from the virus more, you're cool with that.

It's not at all surprising that you think our political leaders should use the loved of Americans as weapons to fight each other in petty squabbles. Trump is the president of all Americans, even the ones he doesn't like. Is this how your fantasy Christian fascist monarch would react? WWJD right?

vote against everyone who has even tacitly supported this fool.

I am so sad for what has become of my people....never did I expect that we would suck this much during my lifetime.

Oh Come On....you used to be better than this!

was i? i think that i have always been very presidential. of course, i would never take that ****ing horrible job.

And yet Trump signed up for the sacrifice.

There are not many great men left anymore.... you really should appreciate the ones that we have.....at least be able to recognize them.

I well understand that these days so many belive that there is no such thing as great men, that the ones that they advertise as "Great Men" are the ones found licking a woman's (Or Many) ass.

BARF!

Because during a national emergency it is kind of his job. At the end of the day no one will remember the petty and childish behavior of these governors but the response of Trump. Simply look back to Katrina under Bush, he got blamed for the ineptitude of the local and state government down there. Having the MSM in their back pocket is a huge benefit to Democrats in times like this.

We still remember Pittsburgh's failure in the last Great Pandemic....so no....

Lots of dead people caused by the suckage of leadership has a way of clearing the mind now as well as then.

Trump have gone from making very serious and false statement about a sitting president.

14 of Donald Trump's most outrageous 'birther' claims - CNNPolitics

To wanting to punish entire states, because their leaders have criticize him as president.

NO, NO, and NO. The presidents duty is to protect all citizens from all enemy's foreign and domestic. That's his primary duty. Inslee's Washing State is no different than any other red or blue state. They have to put their partisan garbage out to the street and move on. Trumps negativity of Inslee started before the Corona virus.

Trump is as usual showing he could care less about the well being of Americans (especially democratic Americans), but he puts all his energy into his appearance and his re-election.

He is a tiny little man with no skin. Jay inslee can be as wrong as hell. That does not change what the presidents duty's are.

not really. he has always been like that.
you didn't hear him complaining when obama was targetting states that stood up to him.

he might get help but will be last on the list.
sorry but in politics everything is personal. people in politics know this.

there are repercussions for making enemies out of people higher up the food chain.

So, if you were president under these circumstances and some pissant governor were to diss you, you'd make sure the citizens of that state would suffer repercussions of their insolent governor's behavior. You'd teach them not to elect people who don't kiss your ass?

From where did you acquire your claimed mind reading skills?

So hearing his own words coming out of his own mouth is now considered 'mind reading.' My, how our standards have fallen.

It's like your training a seven year old on the basics of common decency.
