Spit On, Yelled At, Attacked: Chinese-Americans Fear for Their Safety

And you should have added that we should not have dropped atomic bombs on Japan to end the war.
We should have kept fighting and wasting millions of lives.
That would have been the humane thing to do, right? Instead of being racist and ending the conflict.

All that is just bull**** excuses for mistreating people. Those that were locked up had nothing to do with spying or treason against the country they chose as a home. They were interned because of their ethnicity and nothing more. It was justified only on the fact that the person was japanese not that there was proof of treason. Japanese internment was nothing more than bigotry and hatred backed by the poor excuses to hate that you just used.

This is a very good comparison to people attacking chinese today for no other reason than they are asian not because they are infected or thew cause of infection.

Look at Frenchman Juicy Smollete'e experience? Thugged out by Nigerian White supremacists wearing MAGA hats and hanging Frenchmen with clothe lines.

Screaming "racism" is big business nowdays. Unless the victims white.

Poor poor whitey *sniff sniff*

LOL

They're mean bastards because they voted for Trump ... to YOU. ... even though most of them don't know you and have no desire to be mean to you

But hey ! I needed the cigar ; )

Trump keeps Democrats hopping angry. They have never prior met a man who as president stood up to them.

You were saying?

How many people did we lose because of our delayed reaction? Got a number?
Will you be blaming Trump for his delay for the next seven months because that's all you got?

It is safe to say the infection rate would be lower and slower: the numbers will surely be estimated when all this is done, but it is still very early. Safe to say Singapore and Taiwan demonstrated how effective swift action can be. But there is still no denying that the slow response helped the virus spread in the vital first few weeks.

As for 'all you got' I'd imagine some hard numbers will be out before the election; in fact by then the worst of it will be well over and there will only be sporadic cases, at most, if SARS is anything to go by. By then Trump will likely also have screwed something else up, as he always does. As usual the latest scandal is always 'all we've got' to those who conveniently forget the last oine and the one before that.

I certainly hope that it costs him those few swing voters who make a difference. This calamity has demonstrated what we've always known - he is unfit to lead in a crisis.

What do you expect when you live in an intolerant city like San Francisco where everyone thinks anyone not like them is a deplorable.

WTF? San Francisco is one of the most racially and culturally diverse cities in the world.

Lol! The fact he is using world of tanks as a historical source is pretty funny. Then again anyone who neglects to mention the possessions that were taken from japanese americans and the information that came out after the internment cant be taken seriously. War pigs love themselves some cruelty.

So I do wonder... where in America is it that Asian &/or Chinese people are hiding out, staying in their homes, fearful of being assaulted, "spit on" or whatever else ??

Because I see people of Asian descent all over the place when I go out. I see no assaults, hear no name calling - no spitting - I don't see people even looking or staring at Asian people, as if they're some sort of undesirables.

Now we're talking about Japanese internment ... that happened long ago.... is there talk of making internment camps for Chinese/Asian people here ????

Rattling around bored are we ?? LOL

My daughter-in-law is Chinese. She hasn't mentioned anything about it. I don't doubt there are some bigoted butt heads out there, but I don't see it as a movement sweeping the country or anything. I think this whole narrative is aimed at Trump.

Of course it is

The "We hate Donald Trump" movement is loud & always obnoxious... any goofy thing they can dream up ... some of them are calling covid91 the Trump virus LOL

These people LOL So nutty

But of course there are always some other nuts out there who might hate asian people.. or african people .... or european people ... or fillintheblank LOL

The wehatetrumpers are loudest right now

My DIL and two grandsons (Filipino) are doing quite well here in Virginia Beach, and we have a pretty large Asian population.

Dumb ass DeSantis governor of Florida needs to go through a recall election. The

Yeah, Florida really needs to get that guy who just was caught doing crystal meth with a male escort to govern the state instead.

Theres been plenty of evidence in this thread. The videos of the 'hate crimes' have been posted...you just dont want to talk about them. The trans bashing and murders are known....you just wont addr4ess them. The fake hate crimes are well known...you wont address them.

As for your evidence...be honest...you know less than dick about what is in the articles you cited. You post reading opinion pieces that offer confirmation bias. If you HAD read them you would have read that "hate crimes have increased in every presidential election year since national FBI record keeping began in the early 1990s." You would also have read the apex of the hate crime increase was actually in 2015...2 years before Trumps inauguration and before he had even committed to running. But then you would have had to see the opinion pieces for the biased pieces of **** that they are. Mind you...you would have still posted them.

Interesting facts. Thank you for posting.

Indeed. And in many cases the victim wasn't Muslim.

I remember a couple days after 9/11, I was listening to G. Gordon Liddy's radio show, (damn I miss that show) and he kind of chuckled, and said "And the ladies need to be careful, when they shower, ya know? I mean the way they wrap their hair in a towel, they probably shouldn't poke their head out the door like that". Gallows humor. Sounded funnier on the radio, now that I think about it. lol

.....where people spit on Asians and tell them to go home.

Of course it is. I don't recall journalists clamoring for answer as to why so many people wearing MAGA hats are getting the snot beat out of them.

Am I right in saying Trump should not campaign for your vote?
How are you going to act if we get through this virus scare and the economy comes roaring back?
Will you say, "Never mind"? Or will you come back with different ways to vilify your duly elected president?
Oh, and I am sorry for you that Hillary lost three years ago. That was sad.

If the economy come roaring back, it's a natural pent up demand reemerging, Trump won't be the cause of it. Who Trump is, i.e, a despicable human being who is a threat to the health and national security of Americans, he will always be; someone not worthy of the office.

The majority of Americans do not want Trump, and that fact has been, will always be, true.

I am bringing for a specific issue, which is hate crimes that are tied to the Trump presidency. This is not about the specific video in this thread, but the general condition of hate and bigotry that our President has condoned on a de facto (if not overt) basis.

I wasn't making a general comment about hate crimes, only about the uptick during the Trump campaign and presidency. Yes, I am aware that there has been a general uptick in hate crimes over the years. They actually dropped some during the Obama years, then had an uptick late in during his tenure. But, they jumped 17% in one year as Trump was elected... and nearly 33% from during Trump run for the White House until his first year in office. You can see the very pronounced uptick in the years of Trump's campaign and assuming of office.

What I had posted were several academic studies that correlated hate crimes to Trump, not "opinion pieces." Here are some more:

Do you have anything that specifically refutes the concept of the Trump effect or otherwise refutes the conclusion there is a significant uptick in hate crime attributable to Trump? ... or should chalk up two points on the scoreboard??

Why should I refute an ignorant biased partisan ‘opinion’ that ignores facts and focuses solely on your hatred?

Watch this nasty Trump supporter

And these Trump supporters ....

How do you knuw they aren't? We keep seeing gliwing posts about how Trump is going to get 200 percent of the black vote, you've got to figure there's at least a few.

I'm not going to blame Trump supporters only, but you're assuming that they aren't bevause of their race.
