[QUOTE=Ahlevah;1071519413]Another terrible analogy. What you described--taking a life-saving antibiotic and adulterating it--is a criminal act. On the other hand, if prices aren't permitted to increase when demand increases no one should be surprised at the result.

No, the guy was creating a black market as Harry Lime did in the film. Such people were subject to prison sentences. Obviously, this is nowhere near as bad as what the Lime character did, and given that we have soap and water to do the job, we can deal with his scheme. But it’s still pretty loathsome, and the analogy fits, limping as most analogies do.

Btw, Welles gives one of the great movie speeches, where I believe he describes the evils of Renaissance Italy, that nevertheless produced such mind-blowing art despite its crimes. He then describe the years of good government and stability in Switzerland which produced... the cuckoo clock! Worth checking the movie out just for that.

One of my neighbors did something like this. When she told me, I encouraged her to share. She agreed. So I created a Google Sheets doc and shared it in our Nextdoor app. There's a column for contact information, a column for items that we have and can spare, and a column for items that we don't have and need. The response has been overwhelming and entirely positive.

You will be cooking as long as you stay away from “opinion blogs” for your news sources along with Breitbart, Hannity and Fox news,

Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can sit in a boat, drinking beer all day while you fool around with his Woman.

Why not consider a range of opinions and sources?

You might want to take note of the fact that that "local Vancouver newspaper" is NOT a "newspaper" at all. It is the "Daily Hive" which (before its rebranding, [from the "Daily Buzz"]) was the subject of numerous criticisms and controversies including fear mongering, unethical journalism practices, and plagiarism.

PS - The possibility that the report could be the result of a "prank" entry on Craigslist® shouldn't be discounted either.

    Interesting quote.

The nearest I can find is Polonious's speech in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" (Act 1, Scene 3, Lines 68, 69) and that doesn't say it at all.

Possibly, from the depths of your previously demonstrated great erudition, you could actually provide a source for your quote?

PS - Of course, I'm quite prepared for one of your usual responses that equates to "Oh, I have no source for that. I just made it up because it sounded like something that sort of sounded good even though I have no idea what it means.".
