Biden has seemed to secure SC. No one else moved the needle for Clyburn last night.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — U.S. Rep. James E. Clyburn, the highest-ranking black member of Congress and the kingmaker of South Carolina’s Democratic political orbit, on Wednesday endorsed Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. The backing could provide a much-needed boost for the former vice president heading into South Carolina’s primary.
Clyburn said he was calling on the people of South Carolina to “stand with” Biden.

“I know Joe Biden. I know his character, his heart, and his record,” Clyburn tweeted. “Joe Biden has stood for the hard-working people of South Carolina.”

It isn't enough. Even if Biden squeeks out a win in SC, Bernie will still pull almost as many delegates and going forward with the cluttered field syphoning Biden's delegates he isn't seemingly like a man with a realistic path to victory.

Having the endorsement of James Clyburn is a huge pick-up for Joe Biden and he needed it. After last night's display by the candidates, I realized that Joe Biden was the only one on stage that appeared to be the grownup in the room. I believe that Tom Steyer did an excellent job, but he can't win the nomination. The only hope in the election is to have Joe Biden as the candidate. It has taken all this time for me to come to the conclusion that no matter who it is, nobody else can beat Trump other than Joe Biden. Even a month ago I wouldn't have supported Biden, but now I understand he's our last hope so I'm getting behind him.

Joe’s campaign needs last rights, imo

Unfortunately Steyer may hurt Biden's chances in SC. He has big support there and is counting on at least second place to continue his campaign. If he does well he could tick off some Biden support down the line. It's clear that Trump is most afraid of Joe Biden in a general election. He is currently tweeting and saying that all the candidates sucked last night except for Biden! Most of the Republicans also agree that Biden is now the one to beat.

Despite Bernie's meteoric rise, I'm thinking Biden may win SC (helped by the debate), and then run competitively enough to stay-in as some others drop. This could stop Bernie from having a strongly decisive win, forcing a sloppy brokered convention. Super Tuesday will tell the tale, of what the future will likely be.

But if Biden loses or barely squeaks by here in SC, woe is he.

The thing to watch on Super Tuesday is Bloomberg. Can a massive ad campaign really work? Bloomberg himself has been a terrible and terribly reclusive candidate.

He may (is likely?) to win SC, which will allow him to limp by. Super Tuesday will tell the tale.

Perhaps, but which tale will it tell us? Will the DNC POTUS hopeful field be narrowed to 3 or 4 "viable" candidates?

It won't be until around July that we'll find out who the pick for VP will be but if the presidential candidate is a man, which I'm pretty sure it will be, he will choose a woman as his VP running mate. I think if Biden is the candidate, Amy Klobuchar will be his choice for VP. I think that would make for a very strong ticket.

If Biden could just put together a coherent thought at these debates, he would be the run-away favorite to win the nomination imo. His poor showing in each of the previous debates have put him in this situation where the endorsement of SC's most prominent black lawmaker is whats needed to put him over the edge in SC. Not a good look considering where he was a couple of weeks ago even.

Sooner (rather than later) a culling of the "moderates" is going to be necessary, and their voters have to go to the one most likely to win against a head on match up against Sanders, which sadly, I think is Biden. I wish it could be Klobuchar, but a Biden coalition seems the strongest to take on Bernie.

Yeah, I think Amy is a great veep pick for both Biden & crazy enough - for Bernie! But knowing Bernie, I wouldn't doubt if he goes full-boogie & considers Ocasio-Cortez! Buttigieg has a strong place in the next Dem administration, but I do not believe he fits in as a veep choice at this time. I'd personally like him as veep, but in political terms I think he won't bring the right Yin to another white guy's Yang.

Rep Ocasio-Cortez is not qualified for Vice-President.

It will after next Tuesday!
Hard to see how there won't be two main front runners after next week, whether the rest like it or not.

Neither was Trump, but voila'. Don't underestimate the American public.

I wasn't stating an opinion on Rep Ocasio-Cortez's qualifications, I was stating a fact as defined in the Constitution.

Wouldn't age be a problem?

It would be cool if Biden rises above Trumps crappy smear campaigns against him.

Trump's campaign? The poo currently being flung at Biden is from his own side of the isle.

A 30 point difference isn't exactly insurmountable. There are almost 4000 left to be awarded. I'm sure Biden is concerned (especially with regards to fundraising), but the early primaries were very distorted in any case. Once Warren and Klobuchar drop out, and we get into the more 'normal' primaries, I expect Biden to surge. The picture will be much more clear after Super Tuesday.

It is interesting that Klobuchar keeps being mentioned as a potential VP pick for Biden or Sanders, and I think there's a case for her adding to either ticket.

However, I don't see her accepting an offer from Sanders - he's out there even among liberals, and not popular within his own party. Klobuchar has the potential of being a future leader in the DNC, and being tied to 'crazy Bernie' would cut that short. I also think Sanders has no chance of winning the general election, and little chance of winning the primary. Being his VP candidate would make Klobuchar the Sarah Palin of the left - relegated to being a guest commentator on MSNBC.

I also get the feeling Bernie will make an early pick, and it will be someone out of left field.

I think Buttigieg is positioning himself for an appointment. I just don't see him as having the experience to get on the ticket - he's a town mayor, who's never been involved in national politics. If he continues to present himself well, I think it would be foolish of the nominee to not ask for his support in exchange for an cabinet position.

It's not up to the public - it's up to Bernie. I could see him pulling a John McCain and adding a VP pick out of left field. Hoping he's smart enough not to pick that one.
