Trump tries new approach for $1 trillion infrastructure plan

"As a presidential candidate in 2016, Donald Trump promised a $1 trillion infrastructure plan that would use tax incentives to spur private investment in public works projects.
He has so far failed to persuade Congress to pass anything like that."

"Since outlining his budget proposal last week, Trump has done little to promote his new infrastructure plan. A politically divided Congress has no obligation to consider it. In fact, Trump’s prior infrastructure proposals all stalled, even when Republicans controlled both the House and Senate."

"Some Republicans already are lowering expectations. ‘The Republican House version of the bill won’t be a trillion dollars, I can tell you that right now,’ said U.S. Rep. Sam Graves, the ranking GOP member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. It will be a lot farther south than that.’ "

If Trump wanted to be a unifier, he would have proposed this way back in 2017. Infrastructure improvements enjoy bipartisan support.

But Trump has zero desire to unify this country that he has ripped further apart. :(

A lot of presidents have tried the "infrastructure" thing. For some reason, congress isn't a fan, and congress has the money.

Obama seemed to have no trouble getting Congress to pass an infrastructure plan in 2009.

I don’t know why you think Congress members wouldn’t want new roads and bridges in their districts.

Hawkeye doesn't remember or acknowledge the joke that was the ever-promised infrastructure package from the President circa 2017-2018.

Don't worry, though. I am certain Hawkeye will create an alternate reality in which the President did in fact have a fully-functional Infrastructure Week and a fleshed out plan that Marc Short seriously attempted to negotiate with House and Senate leadership, and when rebuffed, the President used the bully pulpit to get the job done.

He had the best plan to get Mexico to pay for the wall. He had the best plan to put all the coal miners back to work. He had the best plan to cut the deficit. He had the best plan to give all Americans the greatest healthcare in the world. He had the best plan to end violence in Chicago.

Because he accurately represents their values and principles. Not what they pay lip service to, but what they actually support.

Turn on the TV early Sunday morning and you can see Trumps across the dial.

It’s not the dems. It’s the Republicans that are the problem. Read the article:
