What is the boogaloo? How online calls for a violent uprising are hitting the mainstream

You are assuming that Trump is a winning horse.

Risky Prediction #478: Trump is so mentally ill, moronic, and inept that he will step on his own tiny dick before November.

I’ll be the first to acknowledge that the basest of his base will stick with him no matter what truth becomes known, no matter how he fecks over them and the nation. But in the end many Trump supporters will jump ship.

You can hope so but GOP self-identification has passed democratic self-identification. You further seem to ignore that Trump is so damn old he can commit any crime he wants as far as rigging the election. The DOJ in all its wisdom has decided they cannot prosecute a sitting POTUS so if he wins, he runs out the clock on justice. He truly is unaccountable at this point.

We must agree to disagree. I maintain that it will be Trump who seals his own fate. Likely he has done so already, we just don't yet have the national awareness. We will before November. Trump himself will provide it.

He watched his P's & Q's during the impeachment (comparatively), now he feels empowered to reward those who he thinks stood by him. The economy, despite the corona virus speed bump, is running well, if not smartly. Democrats talk new taxation schemes, and the public wants to puke. The nickel paper bag replacement at supermarkets in place of plastic bags is already leaving a bad taste democrat tax in the mouth of people in every state where it is being rolled out, even tho those nickels go to the supermarkets. Other than more taxes, the democrats breed indifference. Co-opting a safe America argument with immigrants should not be denied, doesn't make a case for democrat support or Trump failure, no matter what evils he commits. Milleniums now have more millionaires and expects more entitlement to wealth than prior generations, talk about hitting their pockets, regardless of idealism, is not a welcoming to America's riches. Watch AOL's signals. She's facing major opposition in her own district, toning down her rhetoric as she looks for another job. She neglected to listen to her constituency in search of a national spotlight. Looked good in the headlines, but not for staying power.

When progressives scream Trumps is racist, they scream at far more more Americans they do not recognize as having similar viewpoints to Trump. That is reality. Not right or left, reality. I wouldn't be surprised to witness the rise of the anti Chinese league, only this time from black Americans. Some are already hunting Jews. Safe schools, a local issue for the cities, and everywhere else is on more minds than Trump's pardons. It is the gestalt of what we are all thinking in the back of our heads, where idealism fails.

It is not an issue of agreeing or disagreeing. It is an issue of recognizing America for what it is. The scandal of the week garners attention, but will Brad and Jen get back together.... Poor Ben Afleck, fighting alcoholism and whining in public over a failed marriage, with more than 50% of marriages dissolving in divorce, and more mothers choosing to be single than willing to wait for Prince Charming. But he just finished filming The Accountant II, an aspergers afflicted hit man who struck a nerve on cable. Let Europe laugh, they have their own problems and Americans want no part of them. Instead they want their tax money spent at home not defending Europe from an alcoholic Russia. When did democrats become Joe McCarthy?

Is it all irrational? Unequivocally, yes. It is not personal, it isn't even a question of politics. Damned if I know what it is?

This does lead to another question. What is your position on the comments that Maxine Waters made concerning harassing anyone that worked in the White House?

That's a good question. I agree with her in principle. I think people who support kidnapping children from their parents at the border should be made to feel shame because it's wrong. Shame can be a very effective non-violent tool of persuasion. And if you were a real conservative who believed in the political philosophy that inspired the Framers of the Constitution you would also agree with me that all human beings have the same individual human rights, even if they are not of 100% European descent and speak Spanish, and even if they commit the minor crime of trespassing, which is a misdemeanor in most similar situations within the boundaries of our Republic.

Should public officials be harassed in public venues? I think probably not.

Should Waters have encouraged others to harass public officials in public venues? I think probably not.

I remember when I was younger being hissed at in church by some of the older ladies. Maybe we should bring back hissing?

What is your opinion? How do you think officials who support the abhorrent policy of kidnapping children from their parents be treated? Do you think people who do such things should be treated with dignity, honor, and respect? Maybe just ignored? What do you think? Do you think Waters was right to suggest that critics of the policy harass White House officials in public? Maybe Waters should have just suggested hissing at White House officials?

I know Trump is a jerk. I don't know if Trump is a racist, but I can say he sure does have a lot of racist supporters.

Democrats Set a TV Ratings Record at Their Las Vegas Debate - The New York Times

The Democratic presidential candidates smashed a ratings record on Wednesday night, drawing a combined audience of 19.7 million to the latest primary debate, Nielsen said on Thursday.

Shown on NBC and MSNBC from the Paris Theater in Las Vegas, the broadcast was the most watched in the history of Democratic presidential primary debates. It beat the previous record-holder from June, when 18.1 million viewers tuned in to NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo for the second Democratic debate of the current election cycle.

Before the Wednesday debate, viewers’ interest in the Democratic matchups had seemed to level off. Since October, an average of roughly six million to eight million people tuned in for the last five contests, according to the Nielsen ratings.

For some context: Last night’s viewership totals across the two networks outperformed two other live prime-time events this year, the Grammy Awards (18.7 million viewers on CBS) and the Golden Globes (18.3 million on NBC).

The Wednesday debate may have generated interest thanks to the addition of a newcomer: Michael R. Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor, who has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on television commercials and online ads since entering the race in November.

Imagine being a white nationalist who ends up 6 feet under, showing up in some afterlife dimension full of other white nationalists and explaining to them that your particular action in defense of the cause was called "the boogaloo" and everyone just nodding like these people are normal.

Lol, hilarious.

Yeah, i first encountered it about three weeks ago.

Right from the nativist sewer.

I believe we are all racists. The question is bigotry. He's not an angel, but doesn't preach hate on the basis of ethnicity.

An anti-government movement that advocates for a violent uprising targeting liberal political opponents and law enforcement has moved from the fringes of the internet into the mainstream and surged on social media in recent months, according to a group of researchers that tracks hate groups.

The movement, which says it wants a second Civil War organized around the term "boogaloo," includes groups on mainstream internet platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Reddit, as well as fringe websites including 4chan, according to a report released Tuesday night by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), an independent nonprofit of scientists and engineers that tracks and reports on misinformation and hate speech across social media.

While calls for organized and targeted violence in the form of a new Civil War have previously circulated among some hate groups, the emergence of the term "boogaloo" appeared to be a new and discrete movement. NCRI researchers who analyzed more than 100 million social media posts and comments found that through the use of memes — inside jokes commonly in the form of images — extremists have pushed anti-government and anti-law enforcement messages across social media platforms. They have also organized online communities with tens of thousands of members, some of whom have assembled at real-world events.

The report "represents a breakthrough case study in the capacity to identify cyber swarms and viral insurgencies in nearly real time as they are developing in plain sight," John Farmer, a former New Jersey attorney general who is director of the Miller Center for Community Protection and Resilience at Rutgers University, wrote in the report's foreword.

As the likelihood that Trump won't be re-elected increases, the likelihood that these Timothy McVeigh wannabes commit acts of violence and acts of terror also increases. The damage Trump has done to our Republic will take many years to repair.

Well, Trump has all the concentration camps set up already. We can fill them with these assholes.

So the government is really, really microscopically monitoring and analyzing everyone on the Internet - and you say this is a good thing because they found some group of bad people? I wonder what group categories the government has you in.

I do! Trump's mental health issues render him incapable of effectively carrying out the duties of his office. His malignant narcissism is progressive and is in no way self-correcting.

It is my hope that a sizeable number of GOP senators will make it known to their Democrat counterparts that they will not stand in the way of Trump being removed from office.
Right now they all are too afraid of Trump and what he may tweet that may not get them re-elected
as it is Trumps base believes everything he says and if he says any Senator or Rep. is not on his side and did this or that they believe him even if it is just another one of his thousands of lies
and they will do everything they can to get rid of that person
It is so sad that people like that can't see what is going on
Have a nice night

Democrats Set a TV Ratings Record at Their Las Vegas Debate - The New York Times

CNN and CBS both posted their viewerships for the debates. I don't maintain links. Your choice, trust a media arm with an agenda, or the broadcasters who needed to justify advertising costs? Both CNN and CBS voluntarily filed viewership and tail off numbers with the FTC. A self protective strategy for major networks as well as local stations heading off antitrust litigation since such an action in St. Louis more than 40 years ago over advertising rates. Of course, 40 years ago there were far fewer broadcasters and cable carried existing stations where over the air reception was poor. I looked at the Advertising Daily, behind a paywall and an industry only publication. My access is via a very expensive investment advisory.

I'm not so sure about the government, but I am damn sure about Google and its parent company Alphabet.

I think you need to actually read the article before you comment on it.

Haven't been pulled aside by the TSA yet.

The more the Left tramples our civil rights and ignores The Constitution, the more likely a revolution is. It's good that the Leftists are taking notice.

If your concern for the Constitution actually extended beyond your own selfish, political concerns you would not be a supporter of Trump.

Trump hasn't, nor promised to strip me of my civil rights like every single Democrat candidate has.

The political class best wake up.

Trump is just as legitimate as any president in U.S. history.

Domestic extremists need to be tracked and monitored for potential violence. Trump has fanned the flames of fringe ideologies and conspiracy theories. Even after he is removed from office he will not shut up—I guarantee you. He’ll start campaigning for 2024. He loves the attention.

Okay, so we know voting is not being affected. Phew.

Civil Rights | Wex | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute

For example, the right to vote is a civil right. A civil liberty, on the other hand, refers to personal freedoms protected by the Bill of Rights. For example, the*First Amendment's*right to free speech*is a civil liberty.

Okay. Is someone denying you housing because of your skin color, or gender or religion in Louisiana?
