Roger Stone sentenced to 40 months in prison [W:369]

Re: Roger Stone sentenced to 40 months in prison

Of course the fact it was dozens of officers and they had CNN there for a photo op had jack all to do with it...right? It was peaceful for two reasons, they brought overwhelming force and if Stone had been hurt, not a single person from the top to the bottom who supported that raid would still be working. Maybe three, picture the FBI shooting Stone in live TV, I wonder how badly that could possibly go for the FBI.

OK, but you're ignoring the point, which is this KNOCK on the door raid, peaceful, he dressed in a suit, was taken to the station, called his lawyer, out that day, is what ignited all this concern about use of force in arrests.

At this point you are arguing just to be arguing.

Those were dentures. Stone got his teeth kicked in a long time ago. Twice. Baby and adult.

Weird response. You seem to be advocating it.

Moves the goal posts, whines when we kick to the new ones....

You have moved the goalposts yourself multiple times, don't cry to me.

Re: Roger Stone sentenced to 40 months in prison

Really? Martha Stewart was sentenced to 5 months in jail and 2 years probation.

That is quite a bit less than 40 months for the same crime.
on what planet is inside trading the "same crime" as "obstruction of justice" and "witness tampering"?
Stewart was found guilty in March 2004 of felony charges of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and making false statements to federal investigators, and was sentenced in July 2004 to serve a five-month term in a federal correctional facility and a two-year period of supervised release (to include five months of electronic monitoring).[51]
Stone was convicted of
seven counts including five counts of lying to Congress, one count of witness tampering and one count of obstruction of a proceeding.

I don't remember Stewart lying to Congress or trying to intimidate a witness by threatening him and "his little dog too."

CNN was there because some sharp-eyed correspondents of theirs observed that the grand jury that indicted Stone had convened on an unusual day, Thursday rather than Friday, as it normally did. Which led the network to speculate that there could be an indictment unsealed shortly thereafter against someone involved in the Russia investigation, and one of the people it had been watching was Stone. The FBI has a responsibility in conducting these arrests to not only protect their own agents, but the public at large, and even the person they're arresting. One way to do that is by deploying enough overwhelming force to dissuade any resistance or any other foolish or dangerous notions anyone might be entertaining. This has been a fairly standard practice for them in such operations for at least the past 20 years. But as Jasper pointed when comes to engagements with law enforcement for people of color they sometimes have a tendency to go south very quickly and dangerously. There's a different standard for them as opposed to a wealthy white person.

You think Comey was really trying to prove anything on Hillary?

LOL, has your television been broken?
Even when Republicans controled everything, you find excuses for not getting things done.

Amazing.
