Charles Barry, 56, has been arrested six times since the start of this year. He’s been released each time without having to post bail under New York’s new bail reform law since his alleged offenses were nonviolent, the New York Daily News reported. In the past, Barry’s served several stints in state prison and has a lengthy record, including six felonies, 87 misdemeanors and 21 missed court hearings, the newspaper reported, citing court records.

“Bail reform, it’s lit!” Barry yelled to reporters Thursday outside the NYPD Transit District 1 headquarters in the Columbus Circle station before officers transported him to Manhattan Central Booking. “It’s the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can’t touch me! I can’t be stopped!”


Barry, a career criminal, has repeatedly duped subway-goers by dressing as MTA officials and robbing people after offering to help them buy their tickets, police said.
“I’m famous! I take $200, $300 a day of your money, cr----r! You can’t stop me!” Barry shouted to reporters. “It’s a great thing. It’s a beautiful thing.

Had the Democratic Dallas County sheriff increased the up to $500 anyone may steal with her granting criminal immunity?

Amazon just leased 335,000 square feet of office space in Manhattan. Didn't require billions in special snowflake tax breaks.
 
Being held in jail pending trial should have nothing to do with whether or not you have money. Bail shouldn't exist period. Either release them on recognizance with the proviso that they can be returned to jail should any further offense occur or any other violation of the terms of their release, or keep them in jail period.

However, we need to also completely un-**** our trial delay problems. Its getting to the point of violating people's constitutional right to a speedy trial when there are people waiting a year or more for their day in court because of backlogs.

Fort Worth's violent crime rate is 5.26 per 1,000. Democrat controlled Dallas is 41 per 1,000. Your own Democrat controlled home-twenty is 43 per 1,000.
 
Its a simple enough matter to make it legal to hold repeat offenders.

The funny thing is the double standard, as conservatives demand more consistent justice for common thieves, stealing a couple of hundred at a time, than they do for their leaders who steal billion from us all.

Common thieves are evidence of the incompetence of democrats but Republican party collusion to PREVENT justice for the most effective, white collar, thieves is, apparently, not worth noticing.

The right wing-dings are great at hysterical judgements of the left and very bad at meeting their own, subjective, standard. In fact, the word "hypocrite" is becoming a waste of breath because it has zero effect on their behavior.

Actually you will find out that is why republicans are against paying more taxes to the government. less money for them to rob from us.
So i agree we should arrest every democrat out there for wanting to thieve more money from me.
PS the common thief usuall threatens the people with bodily harm. The government threatens you with armed officials who will arrest you.

democrats are the biggest hypocrites out there. no one can beat leftist hypocrisy they own it and wear it with pride.
The fact is you will not see anyone that doesn't suggest that people that commit 100 dollar crimes or multi-billion dollar crimes should not
be in jail for it.

Our shortsighted leadership lost a larger opportunity to house the HQ2 campus, offering more jobs and a robust economic boost to the whole borough. They congratulated themselves following the announcement that Amazon will find a home in Manhattan, but what these politicians forget is that they were elected to represent Queens, and the creation of all those jobs would have had a massively positive impact on our borough’s future.

Instead, they sent a message that businesses aren’t welcome here.
