Disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti was convicted of all three charges related to his efforts to extort up to $25 million from athletic apparel giant Nike.



Disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti was convicted Friday by a jury of all three charges related to his efforts to extort up to $25 million from athletic apparel giant Nike, in what a top prosecutor called “an old-fashioned shakedown.”

The verdict in U.S. District Court in Manhattan came two years after Avenatti gained widespread notoriety for his representation of porn star Stormy Daniels in her legal disputes with President Donald Trump.

The bombastic attorney, who briefly flirted with running for the Democratic presidential nomination, faces two other pending federal criminal cases this spring related to alleged thefts of millions of dollars from clients, including Daniels, and other serious charges.

In his next scheduled trial, also in Manhattan federal court, Avenatti is charged with swindling Daniels out of $300,000 in proceeds for a book she wrote.

Yes indeed. Everybody remembers but the dems and MSM. This guy is a piece of crap, has always been a piece of crap, but the MSM anointed him the savior of the nation because they thought he could hurt Trump. It's as simple as that. How much coverage has this story gotten on CNN? Or MSNBC? I wouldn't expect Chris Matthews will be doing any commentary on it.

Most of the lefties loved him to death.

Swindling a relatively poor client is the worst. There will be no money left for Stormy. The big guys get first dibs. I feel sorry for her - the bloom is off the rose and she has nothing to sell.

Democrat poster boy, Presidential hopeful. Oh, did they tout this guy like he was their savior. He got his face in front of every left wing camera he could find, and they were all too happy to have him. And why? What was so great about him? Why did the left love him so much? Loudmouth Trump hater, and he did it on command for them.

As always, these big time "journalists" were derelict in their duties. No effort at all to check into his background. Because he was an anti Trumper, and that gets you an EZPass with the corrupt, fake news leftists.
 
I hope there are some on this forum that have more energy and time to go back into the archives and find all the lefties that loved Avenatti when he was on the cable channels 24/7 trashing Trump putting out outrageous allegations against him and even Kavanaugh. There were those on this forum that hoped Avenatti would run for president and posted they wouldn't hesitate to vote for him. Oh please you good persons that have the time to list those names and their previous quotes that thought Avenatti was their Messiah to take down Trump. Please oh please make that list.

White collar criminals like Avenatti harm people just as much as blue collar criminals. Sometimes moreso, because it is rare that a robber or burglar makes of with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars cash. He betrayed his oath, betrayed his clients, defalcated or outright stole millions of dollars of their money, all to service the debt he used to fund his lavish lifestyle. The shakedown of Nike was just the cherry on the sundae. While I do not think it will necessarily act as a deterrence, when men like this are caught, they should rot in prison.
