Nevada's powerful Culinary Union declines to endorse a 2020 candidate

(CNN)The Culinary Union, Nevada's largest labor union and political organizing force, will not endorse a candidate ahead of the February 22 Democratic caucuses there, the union's leaders announced Thursday -- just days after it criticized Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders over his health care plan.

"We respect every single political candidate right now. We know they are great people," said Geoconda Argüello-Kline, the union's secretary and treasurer.

She said the union will "really work hard" to defeat President Donald Trump in 2020.

I don't see how this in any way serves as compelling evidence of this conclusion you clearly want to prove.

I just returned from a scheduled, routine visit with my GP. He says the Culinary Union didn’t negotiate great pay, but they did negotiate an outstanding healthcare plan for members. Whatever Bernie is offering would be a significant downgrade to their existing coverage.

My doc also has a sibling as a judge in SDNY, he says “keep the faith!”

Yeah, maybe. But if I were to bet - I'd say,

Most of the people who are in the union have health insurance via their employment, especially since Obamacare passed.

I mean it does clear to me that a good chunk of the leadership of this specific union doesn't seem too enthused about MFA, but not much else.

Pretty clearly, they dont want Biden, who they would have initially supported. But they also definitely dont want Bernie. But they cant support Warren who is just Bernie. and Clearly they cant support Biden who is a loser. And they cant support Buttiegieg because he doesnt even have a pulse in Las Vegas and they dont want to throw their support behind a loser BUT throwing their support behind Bloomberg just became really risky after the last few days. And...oh yeah...they cant support Bernie. And they DEFINITELY dont want Biden.........

Starting to look a little bit like a dialogue from Vizzini.

Let's not forget their demo is the very demo that should be embracing Bernie. In fact, they were fully behind him in 2016. It also appears her tenacious insistence to stick with MFA started 'Liz Warren's slide, too.

The last polls I saw showed a scant majority of Americans support single payer as a public option, but only a minority support being forced into a mandatory single-payer system. I personally think forced MFA is a terrible idea. But a public option (via Medicare/Medicaid eligibility expansion) is a great idea. Allow people to have choices, including the choice of public single-payer.
