It's interesting to see popular opinion moving in Romney's favor on this. He's becoming a bit of a martyr here in Utah and it seems to be moving his way nationally outside of Trump's base.

By a more than 10-point margin, registered voters approve of Republican Sen. Mitt Romney's decision to break with his party and vote to convict President Donald Trump on one of the articles of impeachment against him, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll conducted after last week's vote.

The Utah senator's vote marked the first time in U.S. history that a senator voted to convict a president from his own party in an impeachment trial.

Half of the voters surveyed said they approved of Romney's vote to find Trump guilty of abuse of power, while 39% said they disapproved and 10% said they didn't know or didn't have an opinion.

It appears that 48% of the sample were registered Democrat; 40% registered Republican; the rest Other.

Gee, I am not surprised that 50% approved.

I wonder how that will translate when Mitt is up for re-election...as a Republican. :coffeepap:

Those aren't the registered voters samples. Those are generic congressional ballot numbers.

The party ID numbers were 34.2% D, 25.2% R, and 40.6% I.

Same results as the Utah poll of mostly republicans,

The poll also found that 49 percent of all registered voters viewed Romney’s vote positively, while 40 percent viewed it negatively; 11 percent said they were not sure.

He's not up for four years and may not run again...

Romney said God ordained he will become president. He should QUICK jump into the Democratic Party's primary. He should be able to win the Democratic primary by a landslide!

Run, Mitt, Run. Run for president as a Democrat. They love you!

Okay, so revising my comment...

Giving all of the Democrats to "approved" (34%), and 25% Republican to Disapprove...

That would mean 16% of Independents "approved," 14% "disapproved," and 10% were "unsure."

That would fall in with how I see it as well.

IMO unless Trump's economy crashes before November 2019...this won't change the results of that election.

Utah House scraps bills to recall, censure Sen. Mitt Romney

SALT LAKE CITY — As the dust settles in wake of Sen. Mitt Romney’s vote to convict fellow Republican President Donald Trump for abuse of power, Utah House GOP met in closed caucus Tuesday to figure out what to do with bills to censure or possibly recall Romney.

Those bills won’t be going anywhere, according to House Speaker Brad Wilson, R-Kaysville.

Romney will not be re-elected
Trump has been forever acquitted
An impeachment is just an accusation
The only poll that counts is the one taken by the voters come this November
We have no idea who the people were that were polled
I wasn't one of tghem

All points that don't really matter, FYI Trump has been impeached forever.

I'm actually going to retract that. The article says its a morning consult/politico poll but the link in the article, and the one I shared with you, went to an economist/yougov poll and I didn't notice.
