Jussie Smollett indicted over 'false reports,' Chicago special prosecutor announces

Actor Jussie Smollett is once again facing charges in Chicago in connection to a January 2019 police report in which he claimed he was the victim of a racist and homophobic hate crime.

Smollett was indicted by a grand jury on six disorderly conduct charges on Tuesday, according to the office of Special Prosecutor Dan Webb. The 37-year-old actor is already facing a $130,000 lawsuit with the city of Chicago, the cost of the resources police and prosecutors claim it took to investigate Smollett's false charge.

"A Cook County grand jury returned a six-count indictment charging Jussie Smollett with making four separate false reports to Chicago Police Department officers related to his false claims that he was the victim of a hate crime, knowing that he was not the victim of a crime," the office said in a statement Tuesday.

The former "Empire" star told police in January 2019 that he was attacked by two men hurling racial and homophobic slurs at him and wrapping a rope around his neck at about 2 a.m. in the upscale neighborhood of Streeterville.

It's about time Somollet be indicted. His little denial of guilt after he was let go last time was a bit much. He needs to see jail time. What he did was very divisive and was a huge waste of government resources.
 
Huh. So the first prosecutors dismissed the charges, but a judge got pissed and appointed a special prosecutor to go at it again.

Awesome but the much more important problem is the prosecutor. Their modern practice of refusal to prosecute bad people who hurt people because of their completely idiotic fantasy of what justice is (and importantly as well their refusal to follow the law) is one of the prime movers of our cities crumbling.

Kim Foxx, which may be the name you were looking for, is one of George Soros' hand picked prosecutors. Soros' money put her into power, in order to 'right the imbalance in the justice system'. So the next time someone says, 'George Soros is a conservative boogieman!' you can correct them, and point to the Jussie Smollett case as evidence.

It wasn't just his denial. It was his hubris, arrogance and elitism, so assured in his ability to get away with it. This is the culture the Left has fostered: Smollet is a famous gay black man who must be pretty shocked right about now, that his favored status is being ignored in favor of equal justice.

Foxx's dismissal of the charges had a whole lot of questions of impropriety connected to it. THAT is why a special prosecutor was assigned to investigate the whole affair.

The guy got bad advice. He should have just apologized, paid his fine, do 40 hours community service reading stories to children and called a day. But nope. He wanted to fight, deny, and generally piss everyone off witha genuinely stupid story.

The really (only) troubling element of this situation is the 130k lawsuit.

Are the police allowed to sue people because they lacked the judgment to stop a wild goose chase before it got out of hand?

Did Smollett approve these costs?

Was an estimate submitted to him for approval before these costs were incurred?

Like CAF, this is VERY troubling; we live under King George's *justice* system.

A good third of the lead prosecutors in America need to be mucked out, for failure to perform, treason by way of failure to follow the law as stewards of the law, and for the crime of the abuse of citizens.

That could be a subtle part of his plea bargain. Law enforcement in big cities is about who can pay and who can’t. $130k and read love poems in Klingon, and get the bleep off my front page. He is a turnip that has blood.
