Justice Dept. to reduce sentencing recommendation for Trump associate Roger Stone, official says, af

As with before. You're fine to not follow along with what's happening elsewhere, if you like.

Or, if I like, I will. Thanks anyway. Looks like you're an avid partisan. Fine by me. I just won't expect debate in good faith.

Then you might want to try doing that yourself first.

Doing what? I'm not a partisan. My views are consistent. I'm surely not perfect, but I try to be objective. Don't like either party. Don't really like the idea of party. My opposition to Trump is because of Trump. Not because I'm a Democrat liberal leftist or whatever it is that people group together under.

Doing what you're claiming of me. Which is why I've stated that if you don't want to follow what's going on.

Then you're welcome to go somewhere else.

If you're saying I burglarized your convo without reading the prior posts, then I'll admit I did that. My apologies. What is it I said you are doing?

This thread was an interesting read. Does anyone disagree our system of justice is just ****ed up?

Wasn't always the case but in the last three years we can see how the blind justice is focused on punishing Trump enemies and giving Trump friends a pass.

From the very day after Robert Mueller testified to Congress, July 24th, to the phone call Trump made to Zelensky on July 25th, Trump has been on a quest for total power and nobody is stopping him. The GOP Senate relinquished their ability to stop him. Essentially, last week, one of our three separate branches of government representing one-third of the power of our government enabled authoritarianism. The Judicial branch was the one branch he hadn't messed with yet, until yesterday that is. He could have just left the justice dept alone and allow the sentencing of Roger Stone to play out according to law and unimpeded, then pardon Stone, but he didn't. He interfered, (via Twitter no less), and in the process grabbed the power of the third branch of government, the Judicial Branch. This all happened in less than a week. This country is at the point in time when everyone should be very alarmed.

Think about that power grab in less than one week, what's ahead? It's not even a question about whether he'll start prosecuting his enemies and throwing them in prison or not, it's a matter of when. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, James Comey, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, John Brennan, Nancy Pelosi, the whistleblower, and Alex Vindman.....those are on the short list. Then it will be revenge on the press, the New York Times and CNN are wearing bullseyes on their backs.

Even his soldier Corey Lewandowski put it a little more clearly by writing a book about Trump's enemies list.

How in the world is changing the sentencing guidelines from the DOJ messing with the Judicial branch? The DOJ is part of the Executive branch. This is like the 5th time you have been told this, at this point its not even lying, its ignoring the truth because it doesn't suit your narrative.

You seem to have forgotten about the Mueller investigation and then this illegitimate phone call impeachment.

BTW, what's the average sentence for murder? And then, what is Stone's sentence as first recommended by the DOJ? Are you saying, was the DOJ saying what Stone did is akin to murder?

That's one of the most factually challenged sentences ever posted here. Who, exactly, has gotten a pass? And who exactly has been punished?

While the right-wing rhetoric is that the Mueller investigation was a "witch hunt" that exonerated Trump, the actual report says otherwise. The Trump campaign was found to share information with Russian operatives and Trump himself committed obstruction of justice. The only issue was indictability.

The impeachment because of the Ukrainian matter had more damning evidence than Watergate. The difference is that during Watergate Republicans had a shred of principle and put country before party. Today's Republican 'leaders' are nothing but Trump bootlicking scum.

When even Vox doesn't agree with you, you are so far out in left field that not even Bernie Bros can find you.

Mueller report: collusion findings are devastating for Trump - Vox
The report is very clear that Mueller’s investigation did not establish that the Trump campaign criminally conspired on illegal Russian election interference, or that it coordinated with Russia through either an active or tacit agreement

You are laughable. We literally had the president trying to get a foreign government to prosecute a political rival -- with the aid of the Attorney General.

Trump pardoned Joseph M. Arpaio, who was convicted of disobeying a federal judge's order to stop racial profiling. He pardoned Scooter Libby, who was convicted of interfering with special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's criminal investigation of outing a CIA operative. He pardoned conspiracy theorist and far right political provocateur, Dinesh D'Souza, who pleaded guilty to making illegal campaign contributions. These are all political passes given by Trump and are not the only ones. Trump also tried to pressure Comey to go easy on Michael Flynn, who he hinted might give a pardon. This thread is about the Trump Admin trying to reduce the sentence of Roger Stone.

To close your eyes and ears and pretend that Trump isn't using the scales of justice to help those that agree with him and punish those who disagree, is willful blindness and deafness.

Mueller report: collusion findings are devastating for Trump - Vox
Did you bother to even read the article that you posted to support your argument? This is a snippet:

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Donald Trump and Russia establishes a damning series of facts about the Trump campaign’s connections to the Kremlin.

We learned that two Trump campaign officials, campaign manager Paul Manafort and Manafort’s deputy Rick Gates, were regularly providing polling information to a Russian national whom Gates believed to be a “spy.”

We learned that, after Trump publicly called on Russia to find Hillary Clinton’s emails, he privately ordered future National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to find them. Flynn reached out to a man named Peter Smith who (apparently falsely) told a number of people that he was in contact with Russian agents.
...
The fact that it did not rise to the level of criminal activity does not mean it was not a serious breach of trust and a damning indictment of the president’s commitment to the health of the American legal and political system. The section of the report focusing on Russian interference in the election is not an exoneration of Trump’s innocence. It’s a devastating portrayal of his approach to politics.

Trump campaign officials were unknowingly put into contact with Russians by democrat hirelings intent on creating and supporting false Trump/Russian collusion narratives Hillary so desperately wanted Americans to ignorantly believe. The democrat subterfuge did not fool Trump but it seemed to have fooled the overwhelming majority of leftist liberal democrat news people.

What a paranoid narrative. According to this bizarre "theory," the Democrats setup the Trump team with Russians but didn't bother to make that fact public -- which may have had an effect on voters. That's like kidnapping someone for money but not asking for a ransom.

I do admire your side's ability to invent fantasy from thin air.

You are too late to hide the truth from Americans. The cat is now out of the bag and democrats make themselves look stupid by continuing to support false narratives for political advantage.

That isn't messing with the judicial system, its nonsense to say that it is. President's frequently use their pardon power for political purposes.

Your hyperbolic bull**** self righteous sanctimonious nonsense isn't convincing.

Justice Dept. to reduce sentencing recommendation for Trump associate Roger Stone, official says, after president calls it ‘unfair’

In a stunning rebuke of career prosecutors that will surely raise questions about political meddling in the case, a senior Justice Department official said the department “was shocked to see the sentencing recommendation in the Roger Stone case last night.

Nothing to see here.........

Why the meddling now; pardon is all teed up, imo?

Here is the best explanation I have found regarding this issue

Dan Bongino on media analysts reportedly signing petition urging Barr to resign: '''The left is psychotic''' | Fox News

When asked why this has gotten so much attention, Bongino said: “Because the left is psychotic.

“Nine years for someone with no criminal history. You want this guy to die in prison?” Bongino asked on Monday. “Let's just be candid. The left is all in on the police state right now and government spying. They just are. There is no other way to describe it.”

(sigh)...

Alright, did the AG take any legal, or departmental actions against the president?

Nope, instead he did the president's bidding apparently. Just like the GOP led senate 'rebuked' the president for his conduct in Ukraine but did not convict. They're letting him have his way while throwing decency a bone by admitting what he's doing is wrong.

There has been no debate at the top about whether the president is behaving unethically or overreaching lately, only what to do about it. Think on that.

If Trump had kept off Twitter, anyone claiming he didn't intervene would have a case. But he didn't, which brings us back to walks like a duck.

And they'd still only have a thin one because it is obvious who he takes his orders from and the connection between Stone and trump.
