Justice Dept. to reduce sentencing recommendation for Trump associate Roger Stone, official says, after president calls it ‘unfair’

In a stunning rebuke of career prosecutors that will surely raise questions about political meddling in the case, a senior Justice Department official said the department “was shocked to see the sentencing recommendation in the Roger Stone case last night.

Nothing to see here.........

Why the meddling now; pardon is all teed up, imo?

The real tragedy here is that Roger Stone, yes Roger Stone, is a close Trump advisor! What a whacky den of idiots!

Close in that he was once of 50 people Trump might call over the day for a couple of minutes (I hear he maxes out at around 4 minutes) to pick their brain about something.

"Close Trump Adviser" is not even close to the truth, as you should know, but apparently do not know.

Bull****

Trump should issue a full pardon for Roger Stone. Why should he spend ten seconds in prison while Hillary and Comey are out doing book signings?

In normal times, it would be shocking that the Justice Dept under the rule of William Barr would conflict with his own justice dept. But here we are. Federal prosecutors that actually prosecuted Stone's case recommend 7-10 year sentence. But their boss Bill Barr, is going against his own justice department by
stepping in to change the sentencing recommendation and scale it back.

Whatever the sentence for Roger Stone is, whether it's a month or 10 years, he'll be off the hook and flashing the Nixon arms-up victorious sign before that day is finished. He'll get a pardon immediately by Trump.

Trump would have pardoned him right away.

He uses pardons like he uses medals. As props in his clown act.

By getting Barr to do it, he is demonstrating his assertion of authority.

He has declared himself above the law.

McConnell beat his caucus into endorsing the idea.

Just a week ago, Susan Collins and many of the Trumpster here were nerviously trying to reassure people that Trump would not go unhinged,

So much for that.

Because a jury convicted him on seven counts... Why does Trump not have the courage to indict Hillary and Comey? Simple cowardice?

Why is it that your camp is still so hung up on Hillary and Comey?.. Idiocy perhaps, maybe even fanaticism?

Spare me

I'm not the one who brought up Hillary and Comey... But since we are on the topic, is Trump a coward?

All 4 prosecutors have resigned in protest. That would tell any honest person, based on the facts of this case, that what is going on here is highly improper.

Does he live on an island? Because if he lives on an island the amphibious part makes a big difference.

Also it was 6am. And they knocked. Nobody got "jerked out of bed." I didn't see an "amphibious armored vehicle" on the video. I saw... pickup trucks. Can you show me the armored vehicle?
Wait...surely you're not suggesting a certain poster is not telling the truth, are you?

C'mon, we all know our certain poster better than that!

Speaking of not telling the truth, I see this account which regularly posts propaganda consistent with Russian disinformation is back in time for the election.

"Gates testified Tuesday that in addition to speaking to Trump about WikiLeaks, Stone was known in the campaign as a source for information expected to be released by the group.

...

Jurors on Tuesday saw an email between Gates and Stone after the Democratic National Committee revealed that its computers had been hacked in 2016. U.S. intelligence agencies later said that hackers were Russian agents.
In that email, Stone asked Gates for the contact information of Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and a senior advisor to the president.
WikiLeaks later ended up releasing emails stolen from the DNC during the campaign in an apparent effort to boost Trump’s candidacy."

Trump had call with Roger Stone about WikiLeaks, Rick Gates says.

But you just keep right on posting disinformation.

DOJ can make any recommendation it wants to. The Judge will decide Roger Stone’s sentence.

This is the core of the matter. The DOJ can recommend he get a slap on the wrist, but the judge is the one who ultimately makes the call.
Wonder if the DOJ doing this is a subtle (or not so subtle) way of trying to intimidate the judge.

Nothing uncommon about the FBI's tactics on that arrest. I'm sure you don't have any problems with use of force on anyone not a friend of Trumps, right?

I'm against conducting a full frontal attack on obvious soft target. Stone had shown no signs of being a threat of any kind. It was a bullying tactic used by Mueller's henchmen. Have you seen anything like that since? NO! But it should be used on a bunch of Democrats so they understand that they aren't immune from that kind of retribution. After all that Trump has had to endure, and how ****ing wrong it all turned out to be...…..Democrats are owed some comeuppance in a big way. Don't forget THEY started this fight. So you're half right, if you were part and parcel to what happen to Trump, you got it coming. Democrats have proven that they don't mind using physical force to get their way; just look at Antifa and what happen to Stone.

Seriously? What Democrats would you like arrested? Muller ( not a Dem) Comey (Not a Dem)

Stone did this to himself, what ever happened to personal responsibility, or is that just another empty phrase you conservatives like to sprout off about, but think it's for someone else.

Also you probably should not film yourself going to a gun range to prep for a civil war when you are about to be arrested. Stone is to blame for his own mess.

Reducing a sentence for a president's friend and confidant is perfectly reasonable, nowadays.

Surely, he won't do it again.

I am sure any moment Susan Collins is going to come out and say that Mr. Stone has learned his lesson.

The served the warrant at 6am to prevent him from destroying evidence... As it turns out, it was a smart move..

Read all the way to the end. Even the Post article shows it was overkill, and thuggish intimidation tactic, totally unnecessary given his attorney's involvement. That fact that you support this kind of tactic confirms that Democrats need to be raided with even rougher tactics. You need to learn a lesson about respecting people's rights.

Stone accuses Mueller of ‘Gestapo tactics’ - POLITICO

They even brought in CNN to make sure they had a big show about it. I think Mueller needs one of these adventures of his own.

Stone accuses Mueller of ‘Gestapo tactics’ - POLITICO

Read the total bias at the end, where he SHOULD be found guilty. They even admit that the video is missing a lot of what happened. I know that you support this thinking and the thuggish raids on people you don't like. Thanks for confirming.

He would have been smarter to stfu on twitter and let the course of Stone's trial play out and then pardon him. It would have been a very controversial move on his part to pardon Stone but that's a whole other ballgame than directly interfering with the Judicial branch of government. Trump has pardoned many of his friends before and like I said, there's nothing irregular or unconstitutional about that, but this.... this was a power grab of the 3rd branch of government.

You support the disrespect of people's rights. He had an attorney that was completely involved in this process. There was no need for this, but Mueller's henchman satisfy your bloodthirsty hate for Trump, so is was a fine thing, right? Right?

You talk about a gun range visit two years prior to his arrest, where he talks about being against violence or supporting violence. Are you ****ing serious. He didn't own a weapon at all, and the information in the articles clearly demonstrate he was a novice. Hardly the civil war commando you'd like to portray.

Once again Trump acts like a dictator who wants power over everything instead of respecting the separation of powers. His initial instinct is to follow the path of the authoritarian.

American: How dare the FBI treat Roger Stone the way they treat suspects with the wealth to escape and destroy evidence! That's now how you treat an American citizen! It's an abuse of power!

Also American: They oughta physically threaten and round up all these Democrats and show them no mercy for daring to oppose Trump! I don't care if they haven't committed any crimes, round them up and physically assault them!

Geez American, it's almost as if your argument is 100% dishonest, nakedly partisan, and should be taken seriously by absolutely no one...

Sure they did, with a 29 member SWAT team in full gear! Evidence he could have destroyed anytime he wanted to, well before that. Don't buy the bull****.

He could have but didn’t.. Like his benefactor, too stupid to realize they were coming
