[W:207]Rush Limbaugh announces he has 'advanced lung cancer'

Fear not, I kept some that would fit liberal tastes, like plain grey, solid black or dark blue, you know - milk toast sorta things.

You mean conservative professional looks?

Those ties look like something the "wacky" professor would were to let the students know it's test day.

I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. I hope he gets a reprieve. OTOH he's done a lot of damage to this country instigating partisan hatred and making a lot of money off of it.

You, sir are what the left is all about------disgusting!!!!!!!!!!

Yawn. I am honest. More than I can say for the right.

Re: Rush Limbaugh announces he has 'advanced lung cancer'

The irony of this entire thread with me is that Rush is a profound life long APPLE fan.

A company that is very liberal, and yet hated by other liberals.

He's probably sold more iphone 11's than all of their commercials combined.

So much for his blind liberal hatred......eh?

There is nothing about liking or hating Apple that is specifically political.
All the tech companies have the same R&D, same production footprint, and the same approach to their employees for the most part.
Their hardware has always been excellent quality. I've had to work with Apple software and hardware quite a bit as a film editor but I always hated the Apple approach, user interface and their "walled garden" policies.
And the thing I think that I hate the most is the "genius bar" customer experience.
It reminds me of "Comic Book Guy" on "The Simpsons".

And yet the Risks are near non existent in occasional users.

The FDAs own internal analysis of existing research show little elevation in risk for smoking a premium cigar per day.

FDA Study: Cancer risks nearly nil for 1-2 cigars per day | R Street

The elevated risks, are so tiny it’s not worth the media and public health scare campaign. Some people just need to mind their own business

Your conservative mouthpiece rejects the facts of the FDA and the American Cancer Society.

Cigars and little cigars

Many people view cigar smoking as more sophisticated and less dangerous than cigarette smoking. Yet one large cigar can contain as much tobacco as an entire pack of cigarettes.

Most cigars are made of a single type of aged, air-cured or dried tobacco that’s fermented in a multi-step process. The fermentation causes chemical and bacterial reactions that change the tobacco. This is what gives cigars a different taste and smell from cigarettes. Cigars come in many sizes:

The smallest, known as little cigars or small cigars, are about the size of cigarettes. Other than the fact that they are brown and maybe a little longer, they look like cigarettes. They come in flavors like mint, chocolate, or fruit, and many have filters. They’re often sold in packs of 20. Most people smoke these small cigars exactly the same way as cigarettes.
Slightly larger cigars are called cigarillos, blunts, or cheroots. They contain more tobacco than little cigars, and are also often flavored. Studies suggest that some people smoke them more like cigarettes than cigars, inhaling and smoking every day. They look like small versions of traditional cigars, but they can be bought in small packs.
True large cigars may contain more than half an ounce of tobacco – as much as a whole pack of cigarettes. It can take from 1 to 2 hours to smoke a traditional large cigar.

Almost all cigarette smokers inhale, but most larger cigar smokers don’t. This could be because cigar smoke tends to irritate the nose, throat, and breathing passages. A new trend among cigar companies is to change the fermenting process to make cigar smoke easier to inhale. The filters on the smaller cigars also help smokers inhale.

There’s a lot of nicotine in cigars

Full-size cigars can have as much nicotine as an entire pack of cigarettes.

Cigarettes have an average of about 8 milligrams (mg) of nicotine, but only deliver about 1 to 2 mg of nicotine to the smoker.

Many popular brands of larger cigars have between 100 and 200 mg, or even as many as 444 mg of nicotine.

No matter the size, cigars are tobacco, and they contain the same cancer-causing substances found in cigarettes. All cigars are dangerous to your health.

Regular cigar smokers are 4 to 10 times more likely to die from cancers of the mouth, throat, larynx, and esophagus than non-smokers. For those who inhale, cigar smoking appears to be linked to death from cancer of the pancreas and bladder, too.

Smoking more cigars each day or inhaling cigar smoke leads to more exposure and higher health risks. The health risks linked to occasional cigar smoking (less than daily) are less clear. Like cigarettes, cigars give off secondhand smoke, which is also dangerous.

Is Any Type of Smoking Safe?

Today, the cigar market is comprised of diverse products. Historically many studies have treated cigars as a single product type or provided limited information on how cigars were differentiated. However, the PATH Study collected detailed information according to cigar type, by using descriptions of product attributes and common brands and showing participants cigar images. Researchers looked at the PATH Study data to see if smokers of various types of cigars were exposed to different levels of toxins. Overall, the researchers found that daily cigar smokers had levels of some toxins that were similar to those of daily cigarette smokers. Based on a very small number of cigar smokers, exploratory analysis found that for some toxins, exposure levels to toxins were higher for daily filtered cigar smokers than for daily traditional cigar smokers or daily cigarillo smokers.5

Actually they make a boring thing somewhat fun, you should see some of my Christmas ties. Wacky professors usually had their lessons remembered better than the stoic droning bores. If you don't like them that is perfectly OK, it would be a boring world if everyone had the same tastes.

What was the southern strategy? Can you describe that?

Nixon pandered to the white racists who felt rejected because of the Democratic support of the Civil Rights Act and then Reagan pandered to the racist evangelicals to turn the former blue southeastern US red. The racist Dixiecrats are now Republicans and form the core of the TEAparty and are now proud MAGAites.

I know one person who will be dancing for joy: Sean Hannity. He'll finally be number 1 in talk radio. Finally!

Since when?

Like I said. I wish him well with his treatment, but find it ironic he would get this disease for all the fear, agitprop and racism he has peddled. The man has vile, reprehensible views. Hes called people like me baby killers and enemies of the state.

I hope he doesnt suffer, but his voice being silenced is beneficial for humanity.

You keep proving my point.

Low information, and yet you keep spouting low information.

Having a opposing voice to the nonsense that you and your liberal peers hyperbole over is a bad thing?

There was a point when big companies had the country convinced that their product didn't cause cancer. A ton of people actually believed that.

Scientists fought forever until they finally convinced the public that their product did cause cancer.

Anyone who smoked after that wasn't very smart or was just stubborn.

Having a opposing voice to the nonsense that you and your liberal peers hyperbole over is a bad thing?

Theres a difference between opposing voices, and being a vile, reprehensible racist, bigot, xenophobe, propagandist and hate peddler, which is precisely what rush Limbaugh is and always has been.

Cigars are not a serious lung cancer risk.

People also do get lung cancer who never smoked, Andy Hill the Republican state senator from here in Washington died several years ago from a shock lung cancer diagnosis.

Of course I don’t know what volume of cigars Rush smoked, if you have even one a day or a couple a week it’s not a serious risk. If you’re like Ulysses S Grant and puffing a box a day then all bets are off.

Boy are you incorrect.

They are a serious risk.

As a nurse and daughter of a lung cancer victim, I hope he is able to get through treatment ok.

To the bolded

Do cigars cause cancer and other diseases?
Yes. Cigar smoking causes cancer of the oral cavity, larynx, esophagus, and lung. It may also cause cancer of the pancreas. Moreover, daily cigar smokers, particularly those who inhale, are at increased risk for developing heart disease and other types of lung disease. Regular cigar smokers and cigarette smokers have similar levels of risk for oral cavity and esophageal cancers. The more you smoke, the greater the risk of disease (3).

Trix, I quit wearing ties when casual dress became allowed, I keep some ties for occasions I might need one, these are the ones of Rush ties I have kept.

Those are uglier than his hateful rhetoric.

You seem to be of the opinion that it is true if you agree with the idea and it is wrong if you disapprove. The idea that you cannot separate your own opinions from facts is not my problem.

Facts are the damnedest things. Are they not?

Rushing to such a judgement is pretty reprehensible on your part. Why could you not exhibited a bit more class until you started to see a few such posts.

I loathe Rush professionally as he has made a fortunate manipulating that less educated and less enlightened among us serving to generally dumb-down the electorate. He is, however, a fellow human being, on the same mortal journey as us all. Facing advanced cancer has extremely frightening for he and his family. I pray that he steers though this and has many more years of a vibrant life.

For all the vile garbage this man has said, it is fitting he would get this disease. Spit out trash, inhale trash. I pity his family. For him?

No forgiveness here remains.
