Legendary NBA player Kobe Bryant has died in a California helicopter crash, a report said Sunday.

He was 41.

Bryant was among at least four people traveling in his private helicopter over Calabasas when a fire broke out, sending the chopper spiraling from the sky, according to TMZ Sports.

There were no survivors, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to TMZ.

Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, was not among those aboard the chopper, according to the report.

Bryant starred for two decades with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five championships and making 18 All-Star Games before retiring after the 2016 season.

So young... RIP
You were one of the greats!

Rest in peace, Kobe Bryant and the other people in the helicopter. That's really sad.

Such a great one. What a loss. I read his wife was not with him, so consolation there.
Very sad.

Wow... What a shocker. RIP.

Holy ****.

The dude was an icon. For him to be dead is unreal.

Rest In Peace.

I thought for a moment that this was posted in the humor section. This is shocking.

Rest in Peace, and peace upon his widowed wife and their children. :(

More recent, confirmed information. The identities of the other four deceased have not been named.

“Five people confirmed deceased, no survivors in #Calabasas helicopter crash. #LASD #Malibu deputies remain with #LA County Fire personnel. Investigation ongoing. Avoid the area until further notice,” the L.A. County Sheriffs’ office tweeted.

Los Angeles County also sent out a series of tweets describing the crash as well as photos of the crash scene.

“#Breaking Abt: 10AM Reports of downed aircraft on hillside at Las Virgenes Rd & Willow Glen St #Calabasas. #LASD #Malibu Deputies on scene. Unknown condition of occupants(s)…#Update Downed aircraft is a helicopter. Flames extinguished. #Malibu deputies at crash site looking for survivors, 4200 blk Las Virgenes Rd #Calabasas #LASD,” L.A. ABC news reported some of his daughters were with him not sure if it’s been confirmed yet

Agreed he was one of the greats.

I've buried a lot of friends from helicopter crashes; all military. To lose everyone means either a catastrophic mechanical failure or, as most of my friends, CFIT: Controlled Flight Into Terrain.

In this case, I suspect mechanical failure. Most helicopter issues can be handled well enough to let most, if not all, survive, but something like mast-bumping, a loss of a main-rotor blade or a mid-air are rarely survivable.

The best thing about aviation accidents is, except for few heart-pounding seconds of excitement, it's a fast, painless end.

Stunning news. And a wife with 4 minor kids left behind, or maybe some not? Yow.

We've lost at least a dozen celebs to helicopter crashes.

RIP

His four daughters were reportedly on the helicopter with him. This is getting even worse.

I heard that too.

That is almost too much to bear. I can't imagine how his wife is even functioning at this point.

Sometimes there are things that seem just too large for a human to take.

Agreed. Beyond comprehension.

Even worse, given Kobe's celebrity status and the media-dense L.A. environment, his wife probably heard the news from a media source or from a friend or family member that did. Then, she flicked-on the TV. Whoa!

This possible news of the kids being with Kobe-- it takes my breath away.

I was going to say... isn’t there disproportionate amount of helicopter crashes?

Always sad when something like this happens, especially to young families.

I can't imagine surviving this loss. I just can't...
Hope it's not true. Dear God.
