[R.I.P.] [W:97] Kobe Bryant reportedly killed in California helicopter crash

ABC news reported some of his daughters were with him not sure if it’s been confirmed yet

This has not been confirmed, so for now let the praying pray, and let everyone not give up hope.

Devastating...tragic... a great loss. I watched his career from the beginning....he was so talented and a genuinely good person. My deepest sympathies to his family.

RIP Kobie and all who lost their lives.

So young... RIP
You were one of the greats!

Kobe Bryant reportedly killed in California helicopter crash

Holy ****. This is one of the biggest deaths in the sporting world since Dale Earnhardt.

**** me, this is horrible. There's no Laker game today and Calabasas/Malibu would not be on the way from Newport to Staples center. Thoughts and prayers for the families of everyone killed but if any of his daughters were with him this will magnify the loss a hundred fold.

I got an ESPN news alert on my phone a few minutes ago. Then I saw the mentions in here. I wanted the news to be wrong.

There are few people who had more influence on basketball and my generation than Kobe Bryant. Jordan, Shaq, Bryant, Pippen, Bird. These men made basketball a way of life, not just a sport or a game, for millions of boys and girls. They inspired us. They got us interested in the Olympics. They gave us something productive and beneficial to do with our free time. They were men with values, discipline, strength, speed, agility, and intelligence. They were athletes and gentlemen and they have made enormous positive differences in the world.

You were too young, Kobe. May you rest in peace and our memories for all time. May your family, your friends, and your fans find comfort and encouragement among each other. I'm not the only person who will miss you.

Daughter Gigi, 13, was with Kobe.

Heartwarming giff in this tweet

this wholesome video between a father and daughter we were all making light of last week is video of two people who aren't on this earth anymore...I can't imagine what Vanessa is suffering through with the realization that they're both gone

RIP sir, a huge loss.

TMZ is reporting his 13 year old daughter Gianna was with him. They are saying this has been confirmed by a rep for Kobie.
Kobe Bryant Dead, Daughter Also Dies in Helicopter Crash

My pray is for those who are left to deal with the loss of their loved ones. Kobie at the age of 41 leaves behind a great legacy of achievements and a reputation of a wonderful father and after his career in basketball did much for kids to encourage them to strive toward their dreams.

Agreed he was one of the greats.

I've buried a lot of friends from helicopter crashes; all military. To lose everyone means either a catastrophic mechanical failure or, as most of my friends, CFIT: Controlled Flight Into Terrain.

In this case, I suspect mechanical failure. Most helicopter issues can be handled well enough to let most, if not all, survive, but something like mast-bumping, a loss of a main-rotor blade or a mid-air are rarely survivable.

The best thing about aviation accidents is, except for few heart-pounding seconds of excitement, it's a fast, painless end.

I have told the story prior (not here though) of a man I man I knew in Germany who served in the unit I was in. Then Capt. Milton R. Roberts signed one of my passes that I have to this very day. Milton later was promoted and died in the Potomac River when his Huey fell out of the sky.

IMO, a truly redeemed fella after his troubles from earlier in the millennium

I was going to say... isn’t there disproportionate amount of helicopter crashes?

Always sad when something like this happens, especially to young families.

I've been a pilot for over 43 years. You will NOT get me in a helicopter.... EVER

I hope not

His 13-year-old daughter Gianna was with him... as was another parent and their child was on her basketball team... the two parents and two children were travelling to a basketball game... the 5th that died was the pilot...

NBA TV:
The Spurs and Raptors both took 24-second violations to start their game to pay tribute to Kobe Bryant.

RIP

I heard about this a little while ago while I was out. He was a prolific player who left his mark on the game, but what's saddest is he leaves a family behind.

RIP Kobe (Black Mamba)

One of the all-time greats.

...it appears at least one of his daughters was with him.

I thought Kobe was a smart ass early in his career but he really turned into a gentleman as time went on. RIP
