Ukraine opens criminal probe into possible surveillance of ex-US ambassador

I wish I gave the electorate as much credit as you.......
I very carefully chose my words, deciding to use "much" in my phrase "much of the electorate".

BS.....LOL

Liberals laughed at the guy earlier. Now they are hoping he finds something.

Methinks that “something” has been found..............

And you agree that your party is full of hypocrites and bigots?

Where do you get his "party?" It says undisclosed. You also mentioned liberals. Well I'm no liberal and I want Trump removed.

Real life is a bit more intricate than us vs them.

No, they laughed that the morons who thought that his statement was somehow evidence of Trump's innocence. Why did you believe it was such evidence?

Now they are hoping he finds something.
The truth is always nice. Why are you so afraid of it?

Can Trump's attempts to have an investigation into his political opponent announced by the Ukrainians, have backfired any worse? In response to Trump's effort to get Ukraine to announce an investigation into his political opponent, today Ukraine announced an investigation into Trump's attorney who delivered the request!

What an amazing turn.

They key words in the Ukraine statement (the final sentence in my quote), seems to be "illegal activities". Illegal, in terms of the Vienna Convention of which the U.S. is a signatory.

It looks possible that if the U.S. Congress fails to find Trump having acted illegally, Ukraine might. Which wouldn't be saying much for us as a nation.

Regardless, the President looks like he has finally succeeded in getting a Ukraine investigation!

The hilarious part is the cultists still think that getting Hunter under oath is trumps salvation!!!:lamo

I'm laughing, but I'm crying - Moot. I have a fair amount of international friends and relatives. Most of them cannot understand what's happening here, and I surely can't explain - much less defend.

The sad part about this is, the international community believes "we" want this. Explaining the vagaries of the Electoral College doesn't always work. They believe "we" did this. "We" want this. "We" elected the guy.

We don't fully understand how we got into this mess ourselves...so I'm not surprised your international friends don't either.

Trump will be a stain on this country for a long time....but we will live through it.

BS, you all were stuck on "quid pro quo" at that time.....................don't make **** up.

While there's an enormous of schadenfreude in this story, there's also an enormous of shame for our own country. A foreign country is investigating illegal surveillance of one of our ambassadors whereas our State Department is completely silent about the illegal surveillance of one of its own. This means that a country which is the poster child for corruption is behaving more ethically and lawfully than the United States. Utterly shameful.

Very good point!!!

I understand it all too well.

"That n***** ain't my president. He's from Kenya!"

That’s a thin argument, what’s Zelensky gonna say? Where are Barr and Pompeo? US Senator from Kansas probably is looking pretty good today......
Especially when the defense resources that will keep his country out of Putin's hands, are predicated upon pleasing Trump.

Now that Ukraine can see a reversal in Trump's fortunes in the matter, they are feeling more confident in coming forward on the national stage.

I've been predicting for awhile that we will not see all the damage and crime Trump and his administration have done, until he leaves office. Then, expect many countries to come forward with their stories, just as the real-life victims of a bully come forward when he's finally stood-up to and made impotent.

Meh, the Trumpeteer Cultists are full of excuses, they'll be able to deflect this away.

Only in their own minds...

Sane people either have or will see him for who he is.

Well let's hope there's enough "sane people" come November.

There are many republican senators who have told us they do not care to hear the evidence; that this trial is a “sham” and how they will vote on impeachment, all took an oath in the Senate chambers today to do “impartial justice”? If these republicans don't do their jobs it's going to be clear to all Americans, and particularly to their own constituents, will be watching this trial very carefully. And, guess what? These people are the real jurors. Sitting at home in their living rooms watching this trial, it's these people whose minds will be influenced by their actions.

If this is a sham of a trial as Mitch McConnell plans, people will take to the streets in protest. People can only trust that their elected officials will protect this democracy and if they fail to do that, they will hear from these people, loud and clear.
I would love to see protests on the Capitol as we saw under Nixon. I have no idea why no-one is organizing this. Having substantial crowds outside the chamber does have it's effect on those inside.

But yes, the People will be the ultimate jury. And many such as myself, see the Senate as on trial.

And if the GOP weren't a bunch of Partisan Party Protectors, there may have even been consequences to these bad actions. As it stands, there will be none.

Hard to say...especially if more republicans call for witnesses.

I just got a phone survey asking if I wanted to see witnesses called...and then they hooked me up directly to my senator...which just happens to be Mitt Romney. But he's already called for witnesses so I just thanked him for doing that.

Kinda like a "me too" movement, something trump knows a little about...

Well let's hope there's enough "sane people" come November.

Let's hope sane people haven't forgotten this come November. It's up to the Democrats to remind them. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the Democrats seem to always FUBR any gift that comes their way. Maybe this time will be different.

IMO, this is the last bite of the apple until at least Election Day. If past performance is any indicator..........

Did the FBI apply to the FSIA court for that surveillance as well?

There is going to be more accusations against Trump in the next 10 months than flies attracted to s***.
Fair point.

Though I'm not sure of the depth of the Ukraine investigation, as to how far it extends past Giuliani and his merry pranksters. It may.

Props for being the lone defender of the realm!......

I am quite convinced that there will be no repercussions for these actions. The Cultists already defend it to the death, it seems. Until some D does the same thing, then they'll start crying and bitching and pretending they care about the welfare of the Republic. But so long as it's an R doing it, they'll defend it to the end. And R's have enough in the Senate to guarantee that there will be no repercussions. You may get a handful of R Senators coming out and stating they want witnesses or this and that, but it won't be enough. That's how I see it, anyway.
