Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dictator

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

The decision to shoot down this commercial aircraft came down to 10 seconds. Ten seconds in which an IRGC Revolutionary Guard commander had to decide whether or not to take down that Ukrainian airliner which he erroneously believed to be some kind of missile attack on Iran.

He had just ten seconds to make that call and afterward when he realized that he hit a civilian airliner, he said that he 'wished he was dead'.

I do find some degree of fault with the Ukrainian airline for allowing that plane to take off within just a couple of hours of the missile assault on the Iraq barracks. Caution should have prevailed even if it was limited to waiting for daylight to have that plane take off.

For your honesty you may be labeled a "whiny right-whinge agit-prop".

That's not a label. It's a description.

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

While most of the outrage recently was as the result of Canadians being killed, it should not be forgotten that most of the people on that passenger plane (about 130 of those passengers) were Iranian citizens. Proving that once again the Iranian paramilitary and armed forces are the best in the world...at killing other Iranians.

So as an Iranian-American, let me just add in typical Iranian rhetorical fashion:

Death to the Ayatollahs.

Death to the Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Death to the Regime.

Long live a Free Iran.

Indeed, long live a Free Iran, at least of course until such time America feels a dictatorship is more conducive to its interests again as per in 1953; right?

With a bit of luck, his wish might be granted.

Its textbook lefty. Quite literally our lefties have blamed Trump repeatedly for this. Iranians are blaming their leader. Its not conjecture that is what has factually occurred.

Quite literally, overgeneralization can have a negative impact on an argument.

Yes, I've seen a few people lay all the blame on Trump. Very few.

I'll leave it to you people (hehe) to determine the appropriate name calling strategy, as I tired of that back in...like...um...third grade?

Liberal leftist communist socialist Trump hating traitor! Call me all that. On one count, you'd be correct. Can you guess which one? LOL

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

Protesters in Iran are demanding that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei steps down, after the country's military admitted to accidentally downing a Ukrainian passenger jet, killing all 176 people on board.

well, its still possible , ask your self could such demonstration happen in empire of trump´s cuckold (putler) - Muscovy ? Russia behind crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, investigators say | PBS NewsHour

i don't think so, maybe trump hit the wrong country again?

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

Unconfirmed reports I'm seeing that the British ambassador was arrested while recording the protests in Tehran.

Recording protests in Tehran can get ordinary Iranians shot and killed.

Sorry I just don't care enough of what someone who says they have seen very few people lay the blame on Trump.

Hmmm... You cared enough to take the time to tell me you don't care. What's up with that?

Was detained for questioning and then released from what I'm hearing.

That's bs. How was any cockpit supposed to know what was going on in the air over Iraq?

The Iranian military should have given the airport tower a "we've gone hot - don't fly" notice.

The plane should have been grounded, at least until first light.

It's not the pilot's call to make unless there is a problem with his airplane.

It's interesting the ambassador was a Brit. That he was detained at all doesn't look good if Iranian leadership wants to take the high ground internationally.

I think the whole thing is going to fizzle out, but how Iran acts on the world stage could indicate escalation; and how the world reacts, as well.

Iran's Guards knew missile to blame on day Ukraine plane crashed

A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander said on Saturday he knew a missile had brought down a Ukrainian plane the same day it happened and accepted full responsibility, saying his force had acted in error while on alert for “all-out war”. “I wish I could die and not witness such an accident,” the head of the Guards’ aerospace division, Amirali Hajizadeh, said on state television. The aircraft came down after Iran had launched missile strikes on U.S. targets in Iraq in retaliation for the killing in a U.S. drone strike in Iraq of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Guards’ Quds Force. Iran had expected U.S. reprisals. “That night we had the readiness for all-out war,” Hajizadeh said, adding air defence units were on the highest alert and an extra ring of defences had been set up around Tehran.
The commander said the Guards had requested commercial flights be halted but he said the requests were not acted upon.

Someone fumbled the ball. Probably the official in charge of civil aviation in Iranian airspace that night.

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

If no order was given to shoot "hostile aircraft" in the area (which was likely the case) then there would have been no reason to have done so. This "mistake" was likely the unilateral decision of some freaked out missile defense unit who was sure that the evil orange man (the great satan himself?) was intent on killing them and that they were "heroically" shooting down a US bomber.

As if they would have seen it coming. Suleimani never did.

Do try and keep up with the thread. I was mocking a thread poster who described/labeled right wingers, hence the quotes.

I wouldn't think of banning the language police because if I did, I'd be a loony leftist. ;)

This has been a bad ****ing two weeks for the Iranians...lol

Just as bad for the Leftists and the never-Trumpers. They just KNEW they would have some American bodies to show off.

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

You mean they're not blaming #orangemanbad for this tragedy like the anti-Trumps?

They are, actually.

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

Iran is a politically very divided country. If you recall, there had been anti-government protests prior to the assassination of Soleimani.

Theocracies are known for forcing their citizens to protest the death of their terrorist henchmen.

Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict

You have to give the Iranian defense forces credit that Boeing 737 never even saw it coming. Why it was cleared for takeoff is another question.

I would be curious to know how many other civilian aircraft were cleared for takeoff across Iran that night and, if there were others what were their countries of ownership.

Yes, those millions of Iranians mourning this guy all look like they were forced.:doh
