Re: Protests Erupt in Iran after Military Admits Downing Ukrainian Passenger Jet: "Death to the Dict
The decision to shoot down this commercial aircraft came down to 10 seconds. Ten seconds in which an IRGC Revolutionary Guard commander had to decide whether or not to take down that Ukrainian airliner which he erroneously believed to be some kind of missile attack on Iran.
He had just ten seconds to make that call and afterward when he realized that he hit a civilian airliner, he said that he 'wished he was dead'.
I do find some degree of fault with the Ukrainian airline for allowing that plane to take off within just a couple of hours of the missile assault on the Iraq barracks. Caution should have prevailed even if it was limited to waiting for daylight to have that plane take off.
