But in order to do so, it would need to be willing to hold itself politically accountable to the people for this decision.
They don't seem willing to do that.
Congress has over the decades ceded quite a lot of their constitutional powers to the administration and other government agencies and departments. They have done so in my opinion, to avoid making hard decisions that might make the voter mad at them. This way congress critters can always blame the president and any other government agency if the people get mad at them. It's not congress's fault, it's the presidents, the Fed, the EPA, the IRS, etc. etc. We folks in congress had nothing to do with it. Just vote for me again.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

You may want to take a look at my post #24, for insight into why the bill appears to be structured as it is.
It's not just grandstanding on the Democrats side, and I can understand that in this case, even if they tried to push a bill through, it would never get through the Senate. Not with the Republicans playing defense for Trump. But at the same accord, it seems that it never really matters who is in charge, that things that need to change or be looked at are never changed or looked at. Instead we get a steady growth of government size, power, and incompetence.

Let's say that the Dems win out big in November, they take the WH, strengthen their numbers in the House and Senate. Do you think under that case that Pelosi is going to push another attempt at curtailing the War Powers Act? Or will it fall by the wayside. I think that in that case, it falls by the way side. Even though it's still needed, IMO.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

Basically it is nothing. it is simply more TDS for trump doing something every other president in history has done at one time or another.

actually he can amend it. pelosi doesn't get to dictate anything to the senate.
and from my understanding she isn't even sending it to the senate.

LOL, come on, you know that's going to happen again. We're talking about the biggest laughing stock in the world.
Supporting Trump, but claiming you are against racism...is like eating a Banana Split every day, but claiming you are against ice cream.

    The resolution is non-binding.

Another example by democrats to jeopardize our national security. In a time we should be united, the democrats divide us in front of the world.
Another example of democrat hypocrisy. Clinton and Obama made similar decisions but the democrats are doing this simply because Trump made the decision.

Can you imagine if Trump had to get approval from democrat controlled House. There would be leaks simply to undermine the president and we would not have had the opportunity to rid the world of an evil person.

One has to think how far will the democrats go to get rid of Trump?
Please post a link so we can see how much taxpayer money was "wasted" on this vote.
It's disgraceful. I'm going to maybe and I'm looking at it very seriously. We're doing some other things that you probably noticed like some of the very important things that we're doing now. But we're looking at it very seriously because you can't do that. - President Donald J. Trump
