Time names teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg as 2019 Person of the Year

Sounds like a whole lot of people believe a teenager can't think for themself and should never take a stance on something they passionately believe in.

Time's person of the year is officially a joke...lol

You're just upset that it's not Trump. You think he should be Man of the Year every year. Even the ones before he was born.

Unless they espouse conservative ideals. Then they're precocious geniuses.

That's cute, you used my post to bash Fox. I'm sorry I might have indicated to you that I care. I'll try to do better.

I don't care if you care..... I was merely placing Time along the spectrum on reliable news where it belonged.... more reliable than Fox. You questioned whether it counted as MSM, I responded with if Fox does than certainly Time does. I am not sure why you took that as a slam of Fox rather than a validation of Time.

"The Big Book of Famous Hamsters" never failed a fact check either. That doesn't make it worth reading.

:coffeepap

That would be noteworthy if the Big Book of Famous Hamsters was a periodical rather than a book and reported on the news rather than hamsters. For a news organization to generally get the truth from tidbits of information in a dynamic environment where the people you interview have agendas which often vary from the truth is impressive. Reporting on hamsters in not.

I just gave your shallow, totally unresponsive, irrelevant quip far too much credit. Does it feel good to be noticed?

Trump supports the Constitution.....except the "phony" emoluments clause

and the phony part about congressional oversight of the executive branch, and the phony impeachment clause and any other phony thing he doesn't like.

So you believe that Science is just flat out wrong?

Not at all. Most the science papers I have read are well written. They just don't say what the lying journalists claim they say.

How many peer reviewed papers have you read and understood?

I have read hundreds. Maybe over 1,000.

Yep, and a so called 'libertarian' should really be upset at our massive debt. But they aren't because right now the massive debt is being called by Republicans.

I have yet to find a true libertarian on this site. They called themselves libertarians, but on the inside they are nothing but far right Republicans.

Just because a libertarian doesn't need your lofty ideals??? I haven't met a libertarian that isn't pissed off about out rising debt. Why do you think otherwise? Is that arrogance, ignorance, or both that make you say that? If not either, is it bigotry? Why do you make such unsupported claims?

What I don't understand is how can someone call themselves a liberal, yet appeal to authority so much? How can they want more authority? Why do most I meet and talk to in forums believe they have the right to alter society in their utopian ideals?

This may be a generational thing. If you are older than say 50, then you remember when Time's MOTY was a big deal and was taken seriously. That was before they started pulling gimmicks like choosing the PC one year, or naming "you" (with a mirrored cover) which was just plain stoopid. Now it's just an exercise in silliness.

Maybe the trolls were right and I did take this too seriously.

In other increasingly non-serious awards news, when Greta gets the Nobel Peace prize next year I'll try to remember to not take that too seriously too.

That is a joke as well, since it is given to lying con artists like Al Gore.

You're not fooling anyone here, well except for yourself..

Being Time's person of the year isn't necessarily a compliment, ya know...lol

Indeed, but you are the one who said it was a joke because you disagree with the recipient's politics.

Libertarians are just right wingers who like to use dope for the most part. Almost all of them are to the right of even conservative Republicans. And only half as rational.

Not really. There are two different kinds of libertarians . Some think it's all about paying taxes, which is frankly absurd. Some pay their taxes quietly, but want the government to stay out of their pants.

I still say this poor Greta Thunberg girl is a victim of brainwashing and child abuse. Why couldn't Time have selected the democracy protesters of Hong Kong instead? They really need our support.

Libertarians are generally loners who are against the will of society and anti-community in their attitudes. They are a scourge upon our nation.

They think this is still the 1700's and they are living on their own island.

Oh for crissakes. Greta is the person who "most influenced the news and the world" in 2019? Srsly? On what planet has Greta influenced anything?

You would think a news magazine would care more about, oh I don't know, the NEWS, than about making some lame feel-good statement about how they wish the world was.

Clearly she influenced you to create a thread whining about her.

Because I solidly believe that in 20 or so years, AGW will be seen as the dog and pony show that it is. Everyone involved in the movement will be shamed.

Is pollution and damage to the planet going to just disappear by then?

A child from wealthy family in Sweden talks about stolen childhood.
That ignorant brat should go live in Africa for a few months.

How so when it is apparent by the evidence that it is not an exaggeration?

You have evidence to support the activist assertion that 6 billion people are going to die within the next 80 years as a result of climate change? That would be news to not only me but the IPCC too.

The $64 million dollar question.

Pollution is a different thing all together. What I mean is the alarmists will be seen as moon-bat crazy with how damaging they think CO2 is.

We need to minimize actual pollution to as little as economically possible. To expect society to stop producing CO2 is simply moon-bat crazy.

CO2 is our friend.
