Trump used Pentagon budget for personal gain, Amazon alleges

Back on point:

"Trump used Pentagon budget for personal gain, Amazon alleges"

Emphasis is mine in the following quote from the article:

"President Trump’s “repeated public and behind-the-scenes attacks” against Amazon led the Pentagon to choose a lesser bid from Microsoft for a massive cloud computing contract that officials have labeled a crucial national security priority, Amazon alleged in a complaint made public Monday.

"The e-commerce giant’s protest of the $10 billion, 10-year contract alleges that Trump’s stated efforts to “screw Amazon” led the agency to opt for a proposal from Microsoft with “clear failures.” Amazon pointed to alleged errors and an 11th-hour policy change as evidence that the Defense Department failed to follow the rules. And it said Trump’s alleged meddling with defense spending for personal gain threatens the integrity of the government procurement system itself."

Once again, Trump May have abused his position as President for a personal reason, and not in the national interest.

That is an impeachable offense. He keeps doing it—he continues to put his personal interest above the national interest.

Where is personal gain?

Amazon’s own complaint for starters. It is a verbose petty complaint that culminates in the assertion that, if only the criteria were different, JEDI should have been a no bid contract that only Amazon would qualify for. So perhaps Oracle and IBM were onto something when they prompted the IG to look into potential DOD sourcing shenanigans to funnel no bid contracts to Amazon.

If you are right, it will be thrown out of court. If not...who knows. Another impeachment? I doubt it. Future Presidents, whether Republican or Democrat, will do whatever the **** they want.

How is Trump ignoring The Constitution, much less daily? Give us some examples, supported by the text from The Constitution.

Trump is going to be impeached...get over it.

Trump is a mafia.

Trump supporters are complicit.

Where is personal gain?

Getting a bogus theory validated by the president of Ukraine, thus convincing dopey people to vote for him.

Seriously, that’s why. He needs the vote of stupid, gullible people. There’s plenty of them out there, and he caters to them.

Unless the Pentagon did this at Donald Trump's direct behest, I do not see how this could possibly be considered an abuse of power, because what "power" did Donald Trump improperly exercise?

What I find laughable is the Pentagon chooses the lower bid, and the democrats want to say it's the president's fault...

Are they suppose to pay the highest bidder?

I guess with the way democrats think, the answer is yes!

You are right, they should always buy the cheaper one, even if it is crap!

Well, maybe he will get even with the democrats and lying media!

We need to get rid of Presidential term limits. Long live Trumpism, and glory to the Right!

Wait, before I go on, let me get my torch...

No, I think term limits are a good thing overall, even if we need to not have a Reagan get a third term.

I think we need term limits for the representatives, and return the way senators are selected back in the hands of the state legislators.

Also...

Do away with retirement benefits for congress. Ideally, they would do one term, and return to civilian life.

Holy ****, Planar! We are in agreement! That would go along way to improve the problems. We also should get rid of the lobby. Special interests should not be put ahead of the citizens.

The solution to that is to return to the approximate one representative per 33,000 people. There would be too many votes for lobbyists to buy. Besides, then the people would actually get a chance to talk to the representatives!

That’s a good idea! 10 or 11 thousand reps in the house. Do you think it would reduce factionalism? I’m tired of only having two (bad) choices to vote on.

To solve that, we go to runoff elections. The winner must have 50%+1 or more. If three or more candidates split the vote, then we vote again eliminating those in the second round who have lost the chance to win.

OMG!

:lamo

The Washington Post - the paper OWNED by Jeff Bezos - is ALL over this Nothing Burger!

:lamo

Bezos accusing someone else of unethical conduct???

:lamo

Cannot make this stuff up!!!

:)

I don’t pay much attention to AOC—except to denigrate her. She’s a socialist. Probably a communist wannabe. Neither of those options promotes freedom.

That's good, she's not worthy of the attention she gets.

It also says in the title Trump gained personally from this.

Does Trump now own Microsoft? I hadn't heard of that acquisition.

From the article:

"The filing cites direct intervention from Trump in early August. Amazon alleged that, at the time, Trump directed new defense secretary Mark T. Esper “to conduct an ‘independent’ examination” of the cloud contract award, citing several news articles."

Can you tell me why you think it is wrong for Trump to tell the new defense secretary to conduct an examination of the contract?

Wouldn't a new secretary do that anyway?

Now please tell me how Trump personally profited from this transaction as you allege in your title.

AT face value, I can’t see how one can make that argument.

Donald Trump has no personal interest in Amazon or Microsoft.

It is true that Trump put his thumb on the scale in the larger sense through is general campaign to try and intimidate the large internet companies.

He has failed to alter the editorial policy of the Washington Post. So, he didn’t get anything out of that.

Is there anyone left in the country that so stupid that they don't realize that Donald Trump is using the government for personal gain?
