Many of us noted that for an FBI operation intent on deep-sixing Trump's campaign, it was rather odd that they decided to keep their investigation into his campaign completely secret while making their investigation into Clinton public at every available opportunity.

And now, thanks to the IG, the reason for that is rather obvious: they were biased in favor of Trump the entire time.

The Justice Department's inspector general, Michael Horowitz, uncovered a series of text messages between two FBI agents expressing support for President Donald Trump right after the 2016 US election.

In his report, published Monday, on the origins of the FBI's Russia investigation, Horowitz detailed texts between a handling agent and a co-handling agent on November 9, 2016, rejoicing over Trump's victory the previous day.

"Trump!" the handling agent said.

"Hahaha. S--- just got real," the co-handling agent replied.

"Yes it did," the handling agent said.

The co-handling agent responded: "I saw a lot of scared MFers on ... [my way to work] this morning. Start looking for new jobs fellas. Haha."

I've disagreed with Horowitz on a few occasions, but his probe of the Clinton email investigation and Crossfire Hurricane cut through the fact and fiction for the public in ways the actual investigators couldn't.
 
Based on Republican logic I believe this means that there was a deep state conspiracy to get Trump elected.

Sorry but this has to be fake nooz. The FBI is the Deep State and everyone in it was out to get Trump.

Comey was ultimately responsible for the Clinton investigation, and decided not to charge her before he'd even sat down and questioned her. The article you linked doesn't say whether the two FBI agents worked on anything related to the Clinton investigation, or Trump. Strzok/Page worked on both, and were key players in both.

Of course. Anyone with two neurons within firing distance knows that law enforcement is a predominantly conservative institution. Of course there are bound to be many people in the FBI who were supportive of Trump in private texts. If the 2016 election were limited to just the FBI, does anyone doubt that Trump would have won in a landslide?

But it's important to point out that while they can bend things at the margins, (see the all of the leaks and announcements that hurt Clinton's campaign), the people in the FBI are professionals... Serious professionals... Barr aside, the people in the FBI act professionally and as independently of political bias as can reasonably be expected. This includes the many Trump supporters who work in the FBI.

Does Horowitz say if those agents had anything to do with investigating Trump like, say...Strzok and Page did?

I wonder who the "scared MFers" are who that agent thinks should be worried.

Comey has stated that he believed HRC was going to beat Trump regardless of the email investigation. He must have put too much faith into his pals at NYT..

We're on our 3rd year of waiting on his report on Pre-Trump influence in the New York office. I suspect Barr is using it for a seat cushion.

The boots-on-the-ground agents are some of the finest men and women serving our country today. It's the leadership at the bureau that stinks, as it has for decades, perhaps going back as far as Hoover. The top positions at the FBI are reserved for swamp people like Comey and Louis Freeh. The cream doesn't rise to the top in many government agencies.
