Inspector general report says FBI had ‘authorized purpose’ to investigate Trump campaign’s Russia ti

The report was just released

"No evidence of political bias".

For 3 years, Trump destroyed the reputation of the FBI, got millions of Americans to turn against the institution.
The damage the president has done to this institution cannot be repaired overnight, and I think some apologies are in order from Republicans and Trump.

But, of course, these spineless cowards will do no such thing. Now, the American people know who the true invertebrates are.

Andy McCabe's firing was unjust, his reputation smeared, vilified, by this President on almost a daily basis for many many months.
If anyone deserves an apology it is McCabe, and a restoration of his pension for which he worked for 20 years for, was denied when he was fired one day before he was to retire, and thus we can conclude he was fired, given that he would be out of office the next day, for political and pernicious reasons.

Uh huh.

In addition, a career federal prosecutor Barr tapped to review other issues related to the Trump-Russia probe—U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham—said Monday that his ongoing inquiry raises doubts about Horowitz’s conclusion that the FBI had an adequate basis for opening its probe into Trump campaign aides.

“Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.,” Durham said. “Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.”

Watchdog report rips FBI handling of Russia probe

So I guess Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page and all the Democrats won't be going to jail anytime soon?

Oh such a failure for Trump Fan Nation.

How soon until they start attacking Horowitz, who they've been hanging all of their hopes on for so long?

They are literally sitting back now waiting for their talking points to be assigned on how to spin this.

It won't be long, they are angry and triggered (and not very intelligent). That's a bad mix.

Re: Inspector general report says FBI had ‘authorized purpose’ to investigate Trump campaign’s

So curious how they scheduled the release of this report today to try and take over the headlines from Trump's articles of impeachment. Then this blows up in their faces too. Their own appointee didn't lie for them like the rest of the Trumpettes so willingly do.
Oops.

relevant bit

As we describe in Chapter Three, the FBI opened Crossfire Hurricane on July 31, 2016, just days after its receipt of information from a Friendly Foreign Government (FFG) reporting that, in May 2016, during a meeting with the FFG, then Trump campaign foreign policy advisor George Papadopoulos "suggested the Trump team had received some kind of suggestion from Russia that it could assist this process with the anonymous release of information during the campaign that would be damaging to Mrs. Clinton (and President Obama)."
The FBI Electronic Communication (EC) opening the Crossfire Hurricane investigation stated that, based on the FFG information, "this investigation is being opened to determine whether individual(s) associated with the Trump campaign are witting of and/or coordinating activities with the Government of Russia.
" We did not find information in FBI or Department ECs, emails, or other documents, or through witness testimony, indicating that any information other than the FFG information was relied upon to predicate the opening of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
Although not mentioned in the EC, at the time, FBI officials involved in opening the investigation had reason to believe that Russia may have been connected to the Wikileaks disclosures that occurred earlier in July 2016, and were aware of information regarding Russia's efforts to interfere with the 2016 U.S. elections.
These officials, though, did not become aware of Steele's election reporting until weeks later and we therefore determined that Steele's reports played no role in the Crossfire Hurricane opening.

There it is. The new conspiracy theory to tell us that the facts pointed out by their own appointee is wrong and that the old conspiracy theory is right.

What part of the below quote is conspiracy theory?

U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham—said Monday that his ongoing inquiry raises doubts about Horowitz’s conclusion that the FBI had an adequate basis for opening its probe into Trump campaign aides.

Take your time.

Are you being sarcastic?
If not...
Yeah, nothing spells "left wing conspiracy" by the likes of Comey, McCabe, Rosenstein and Mueller who are all republicans
I said that there's no possibility that ludin could be wrong.
Does that sound like sarcasm to you?

As US Allies know full well

This investigation turned up a big Nothingburger

Eeeeeeverybody on the left was going to go to jail eeeeeeeeeverbody on the left.

None of the QAnon folk like yourself agree with it.

So i guess you think it is ok to use the FBI to spy on and investigate an political opponent and it
is not considered an abuse of power?

i find that interesting.

Who is the FBI's political opponent? Carter Page?

So i guess you think it is ok to use the FBI to spy on and investigate an political opponent and it

i find that interesting.

If there is enough evidence of a member of a political campaign committing a crime to potentially open an investigation, what do you think law enforcement should do?

That did not happen. You won't be able to lie your way out of this.

Obama did not send spies into the Trump campaign to spy on political opponents.
Members of the Trump campaign were up to no good and LEOs investigated.

i love how you dishonestly quoted me.
I showed you exact evidence that the trump campaigned was spied on by the FBI and the CIA.
We have stzok and lisa page texts show again show how the IG is not paying attention.

On top of that we have a lawyer from the FBI that was lying about it.

The FBI gets their orders from the top.
not only that but the top FBI officials lied to a court of law on information that was never vetted.

That did not happen. You won't be able to lie your way out of this.

I posted evidence that it did happen.
so if it did happen then guess what it isn't a lie.

But the IG exonerates the FBI on the most salient point, that the FBI were not motivated by political bias and the investigation was legit.

We know Barr doesn't like the conclusion of the IG report, but this is the same guy who lied about the Mueller report, this is the same guy who, when asked during the Senate Confirmation hearing whether or not his belief that there was "spying" was based on evidence, he said "no". This is the same guy who has acted like a Trump stooge who wrote a memo ( discussed here: Bloomberg - ) with the obvious objective of getting noticed by Trump declaring that the President is effectively above the law.

I am confident we can dismiss any opinion given by this AG.

You continue to push conspiracy theory lies instead of admitting the truth.

When Horowitz says "no evidence" he means exactly that; nothing physical like a memo or and email/text etc. Durham and Barr have already come out disagreeing with his conclusion. Don't break out the champagne just yet and you whining about the reputations of these guys sounds hypocritical in view of the reputations of the those damaged by investigations authorized based on Steele dossier.
